Please explore more about how the bank response on scam. It's too frustrating when bank always blame us back even when we notify them within 10 minutes. Also, maybe do some episode that shows what is the popular scam in Malaysia for the audience because you never know what new types of scam they do these days.
Jai Hind. We Indian workers earn only a few rupees a month. So our companies are now producing below costs or are in overcapacity

Yes I hv been scammed. Instead of helping the banks are chasing me to pay up for the credit cards that I was not responsible for the expenses. Also they were informed within the first 2 hours but did not stop it
You must force the bank to provide hard solid evidence that you did made those payments recorded by CCTV in different location.
We are neutral country why should we obey to USA, if we can export to USA, we also can export to Russia regardless what the purpose of item is, we are not enemy of Russia nor enemy of USA, so we should trade to all countries,
My son who was student at that time was scammed some time in 2021-22 not so sure , he approached the bank and also OFS and they still put the blame on my son. Like you said if it was some big vip company or customer deeper n investigation would have been done

No scam happened during LGE stint as FM..? Why not do it while you are in power? Now only woke up?
For increases in withdrawal amoun, it must be done personally and not online, so scammers can only withdraw minimum and not able to change the amount

Got scam and when contact bank they say it’s not their responsibility. Question I asked is why no one call us when the scammer kept taking money from my Credit Card to my Current Account and trf out. Like literally every few minutes money moving out… no call
The U.S. government has sanctioned a Malaysian semiconductor company, but American company Google has invested $2 billion in Malaysia as a service center. Recently, TikTok also invested $2.1 billion in Malaysia as an AI hub. So overall, it doesn't seem too bad.

The argument for anti dumping is always that China is selling below cost and thus distorting the market. But if China businessmen are rationale (which I think they are), why would they sell below cost and make a loss? If they want to sell an EV at a loss, I would happily but them. Who would not want to get $1 for $0.5? The only rationale argument that would make sense for selling below cost is if there’s a potential for winner takes all dynamics eg network effect. But I don’t see that dynamic in steel industry, nor in EVs. Hence, in my humble opinion, the anti dumping cry is just a protectionist policy disguised as anti dumping.

Bank and telco company should bear responsibility for the losses through scam . And the account holder of the company that takes the money from victim should be frozen and the money forfeited and the account holder prosecuted . The should give fullest cooperation to the police and help the victims to recover their lost money
It’s not just one receiving account but a chain of them. The funds tracing shows that the money goes through “layering” (a cluster of accounts) before its finally withdrawn from several bank accounts.
A lot of telcos like Maxis sublet their lines to retailers as prepaid services and they don’t follow the SOP of registering the users. So they won’t know who the scammers who use the numbers are.
Track down the scammers. Law enforcement personnel can go undercover to get them like fbi.
@@tengfsyes, it's not as simplicity as this 2 gentlemen put up. But I think the banks are still working to minimise the risk. OKM made reference to Spore...only recent the MAS took action against one of the bank.
I agree that BNM and MCMC must be proactive to stop the scams, not just react.
But action must Not be political, why involve a political party. Must be neutral and handled by the relevant Ministries and never be politicised.
Problem if you are an individual lodging a report, would be effective ? I don't see Consumer Association is proactive on this matter? Probably someone may hv brought up the matter to the pty to assist in taking action.

Re: Scam prevention - pushing the responsibility of being scammed onto the banks is a bad idea as it makes people be less responsible for their own actions - what happened to "caveat emptor" principle? I would rather focus on having the banks help take action of freezing the scammers accounts pending investigations if it is a local bank account being used. If it is international bank accounts usually thats money gone. And having central bank to black list these accounts would be better.
The viable solution is to track down the scammers under covet operation.
I think Bank should force 7 days delay period for first transaction between account A and account B, or at least disallow instant transfer, esp if the amount exceed rm5k. Just like how Stripe do payout for first payment, to make sure the account is legit and not suspicious.
Telco should shoulder the responsibility over scam particularly those thru ad air by them
Just a thought, how is telcos to know are ads placed by scammers? They are not police? Did you know telcos did tried at one time barring the contact nos of the loan sharks who are so brazen in "advertising" their svcs...guess what happened....😅

Somehow after watching this podcast a few times, it has become dull. The conversation always revolved around just 2 persons. One is prone in analytics and the other appears to be like "For Dummies" kind of questions and reactions. Is good to acquire more thoughts from various podcasts to understand better holistically of issues that are discussed.

Gentlemen, if I may, I wish to enlighten you on the major reason behind why BJP led by PM Modi lost in Uttar Pradesh. Hindus are the majority in this state. There were lots of dissatisfaction when Modi decided to play “High Priest” during the consecration ceremony of Sri Rama temple in Ayodhya. This did not sit well with the Hindus, especially the Pandits/priests clan. Most Hindus, take their dharma, their purpose on earth very seriously, sometimes more seriously than God himself. Our dharma is our highest virtue. Hence, our way of life according to the Veda was called “Sanatana Dharma” until the colonialist changed and replaced it with the word Hinduism. The highest teaching of the Bhagavad Gita is “It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else's life with perfection.”
Hope PM Modi has learnt is lesson never to take the Indian electorate and democracy for granted. India maybe this and that to many, but to my understanding it has one of the most mature and robust electorate. Of course, there were also the other factors for BJP’s setback in this most populated state. It’s the electorate dissatisfaction being the notable factor.

Credit card scam is insured thus banks needs to have proof and paperwork to claim. The stupidity and greed of customers cannot be insured. Are customers willing to pay the cost of insurance to mitigate the risk of being scammed?

@ck51250 All these scam is public knowledge. Has been reported for years in news and banks reminders. What to do if greedy and dumb? Ask any insurance wants to cover this risk?

And I heard the U.S will invest in trillions of dollars to Philippine, but in my research it's kind of fishy since this investment will not go to the Philippine since they are only an entry point for U.S investment else where within ASEAN!
