Think you could make north of 1200 with a spread bore sbc in a drag race application. They pretty reliably made north of 820 in a 1000 race mile 7200 rpm application. They RY45 stuff is north of 900 outside of drag racing. So don't think 2.35/cube is much of a stretch for a big inch drag sbc.
There's been a lot of 800-900hp builds with the old outdated 363's so with today's choices its not the stretch it was back in the 80s 90s. There's a lot of exotic heads flowing between 4 to 500cfm if you have the pockets for it.
@kirkgahley6761 Good question! And when you look up that very same question online, you'll see numbers ranging anywhere from 500-600hp. That number is actually quite low. I dynoed a twin turbo small block chevy with a stock block, stock crank, and stock rods at just under 900hp and 800tq. Longevity would be the next topic. With proper clearances and quality arp Fasteners I would say that the block is capable of handling 1000+ horsepower. It is more likely to have a rod or rod bolt failure or even a valve train issue long before the actual block fails. Each block should be magnafluxed (for cracks) and sonic checked (for thickness) before attempting a high horsepower build 💯
To be honest they came with the rotating assembly years ago so I'm not 100% sure what they are. I'll be tearing it down to re-ring it and I'll be able to get a part number and I'll include it in my next video on it
@ 00:21, is it how to make 1,000 hp out of a sbc or (as the clickbait title says) can you make 1000hp N/A out of a sbc ??? .......... key word is "N/A". I smell BS.
Lol if you watched the video I went in depth with it. You clearly did not watch the video through its entirety. There's nothing click bait about it. It's a simple question of can you make 1000hp n/a out of a small block and I answer that question in great detail. Watch the video, pay attention
@@superiorracingchannel3368 i've also wanted to try that combination on propane for the 110 octane rating but finding any information on performance injectors/controls for propane is a nightmare
Aftermarket block , MBE heads and and Keith Dorton designing and building it 1000hp is happening. You didn’t once mention the Hp rule of thumb for 100cfm/head flow. The fact that on a race engine 50-100hp is picked up with a vacuum pump. Blah blah
Oh yeah. There's a lot that I didn't mention. So many different variables for heads to get into detail etc...and vacuum pump, dry sump etc are all good for power 👌

Could of sworn the title say 1000 hp out of a sb N/A 😆 🤣
It asks the question...can you make 1000hp n/a out of a small block? If you watch the video I go in detail on it
I SWEAR TO GOD
Yep, they highlighted a guy in a maverick running chi heads and intake on a 388 ford.
How much can can a stock block handle?

Which weisco pistons and wrist pins did you use?

It’s possible with the addition of cubic dollars to spin enough rpm to get it done… really pointless though…
When you have deep pockets and there's a will, there is a way. "Speed is money, how fast do you want to spend?"

There are small blocks in x275 with single 88s make 2300
Why would you put 20k or more into a sbc other then just having money to blow 🤷🏾♂️
Class racing would be the only reason
450CI with SB2 heads, big camshaft, 14:1+ and an ungodly amount of methanol should get ya to 1000
💯% Agreed!

yep 15 degree or less heads basically a sprint car motor....

This is an aftermarket block 👌
@@superiorracingchannel3368 the one in the fbody, with twin gt45s?
@@stevenbelue5496 it is a stock block in the trans am. It made just under 900hp
Short answer "NO"
It is possible yes, but...Not without a ton of money.
