@@xandermosis2642 they absolutely have to do with freezing. Their job isn't to hold water in the block. Their job is to pop out of the block if it freezes to avoid cracking the block.

Not freeze plugs . they do not push out if your block freezes.

SBC freeze plugs, also called core plugs, are small metal plugs inserted into holes left behind during the engine block casting process, primarily to prevent coolant leaks by sealing these openings and protecting the engine from potential damage caused by freezing coolant, which could expand and crack the block if not allowed to escape through the freeze plug; essentially acting as a pressure relief valve in cold conditions.

@erichubbard5091 there is no difference at all. The spacer just creates more distance, so it doesn't matter if you put it on top or bottom unless it doesn't fit in one of the areas.
