    Great video.... I was SURE this was my solution and when I got up someone in the Lightburn forum simply said "tighten your X belt" I went and double checked and yup! There was play...which gave the head SLOP in each start right and left... Your offset fix might have compensated for that and adjusting for different speeds might have compensated for increases torque at higher speeds.
    Your solution might be the fix for some, even most with this issue but i wanted to share my experience in that it might save someone else HOURS of troubleshooting and settings adjusting.

    Thanks for the video. I came across this issue on a pair of small earrings I made for a friend. Posted a picture on FB and someone asked if my offset was on I had no idea about the setting before. I will be running this test

    Thank you, was pulling my hair out trying to find out why it was doing this. ran a job in the morning no problem, then switched to an anodized aluminum job at much higher speed and it was throwing this error. Ran the calibration you showed and poof problem gone. took 15 min.

    I knew the settings would be there somewhere and I new I had to do it 😀 I finally had a job that needed small letters engraved into acrylic and was getting crappy results. After this, its sharp edge's all around. Thanks for the vid 👍

    Why would double lines happen all of a sudden though? If your machine was engraving fine one day, why would it just go off center the next day if its a software issue?

      Ive had my machine for 2 years now and I finally took the plunge today and aligned all my mirrors. It was always a fear that I would mess up something and wouldn't be able to cut or engrave anything. Had to get over that. I aligned the mirrors and did the offset configuration and wow....the difference is night and day. Thank you for making these videos. Wish I could subscribe a million times!!!

    Great video, do these settings live in lightburn or are they uploaded into the firmware somewhere.
    Do most machines come with offsets this far off? Those are some pretty huge offsets it seems.
    Looking to get into laser cutting (10 year 3d printing background but new to cnc / laser) with a monport or an omtech 50 - 80 watt mid tier unit.

    Do you have to do for every speed you use or will the software average the data and do that for you? ei, if you use 380mm/s will you need an offset for that or will is use the date from the 300 and 400 that you have input? Thanks for a simple and step by step explanation

    • @BeardedBuildsCo
      @BeardedBuildsCo  8 місяців тому

      You will want to do at least 3 speeds possibly most of you still see signs of an offset. If you use 380 I would do 200, 300, and 400

    • @johncrabb3066

    Thankyou for this simple to understand video hopefully I can get crisp engraves on rubber! Can I just ask when I do embossed design so that the laser engrave the spaces between my design will I see less nasty engraved lines around the rubber engraved image, they look rather like ribbed pattern as in the line tests you show......hopefully the area not embossed but debossed will be smoother?👌

    • @BeardedBuildsCo
      @BeardedBuildsCo  8 місяців тому +1

      You need to test different line intervals, powers, speeds, and focal heights to get the look you like best.

    • @LouiseHolmanClarke
      @LouiseHolmanClarke 8 місяців тому

      @@BeardedBuildsCo Ohhh do you have a link for testing line intervals? I will do the test grid with powers and speeds & hopefully if I measure the material I can add in the 17mm minus the thickness of the material for focal height? Do this line test that you suggested first though or which order to do them in. I had exact measurements and focal distance for my rubber when the red and black 60 watt was working given to me when taking over the business so this is all new to me!!

    • @BeardedBuildsCo
      @BeardedBuildsCo  8 місяців тому +1

      @LouiseHolmanClarke you can test line intervals with the material test generator in lightburn.

    Are these offsets consistent on both x and y axis?

    • @BeardedBuildsCo
      @BeardedBuildsCo  7 місяців тому

      The offsets are no specific to the axis it applied to the machine as a whole.

    Once you enter your measurements, would you "write" to the controller? the version of Lightburn I have has this as an option and I don't know if I need to hit it or not. I'm assuming I do.

    • @BeardedBuildsCo
      @BeardedBuildsCo  8 місяців тому

      Usually when you are doing this there is not a write to controller option. The software drives these settings

    So, Lightburn will take into account these numbers you entered as long as it is enabled. You use speed of 100, 300, 400 and 600. What if you go 200mm or 500 mm speed, does Lightburn will average these numbers, I mean between 100mm and 300mm and between 400mm and 600mm, or you have to do it for each speed you use.
    Thanks for those great videos.

    • @BeardedBuildsCo
      @BeardedBuildsCo  8 місяців тому +3

      Lightburn will make adjustments for the speeds in between. If you see that something is still not quite right then you can add another speed entry to the mix.

    Hello! I was looking for a video like yours, because my laser engraving and cuting has been like shit in the last few days and I can't seem to find the main problem. I did all the stepts in the video (I'd already seen the tutorial in the Lightburn page but it wasn't so helpful), and I find that my main problem is with the lines, even with this test, the lines are always "blurry", so I understand that my problem is not from the engraving. How can I fix this?

    • @BeardedBuildsCo
      @BeardedBuildsCo  5 місяців тому

      If the lines are thicker than you would expect then it is likely that you are not focused correctly.

    Hello!
    I have a concern with my laser, please if you know how to fix either do a video or respond to this comment thank you and appreciate it. I have a NEJE 3 MAX V2 with E40 module, originally I was running the 810x460mm version and it was working fine in lightburn. Recently I bought the extension kit which would expand my working space area to 810x1030mm the problem is that lightburn now does not recognize the extra space😢 I changed the machine setting to the actual size and the outcome was the same. Basically, with the extension rails installed I can use only half
