This tutorial demonstrates all the ways one can use to optimize the aspects of a laser created image. However, it’s up to the individual regarding how many steps make sense. If it’s an image that is going to be burned multiple times, then it might make sense to consider doing all of them. But if there are a bunch of images that just need to be cranked out, then perhaps only a few of them would make sense. “You pays your money and your take your choice”. 😜

Using Gimp you can get rid of the background and resize the canvas to the width and height of the image.
Have you tried the ACMER Laser Engraver S1. I've just gotten it for Christmas, hopefully I can figure it out

It’s would totally work to do it! I used the Thunder Bolt in the video and it’s the exact same laser tube.

Same general process. I was using Lightburn on my computer but several manufacturers even have phone apps that you can uploaded a picture from.
The true test of any laser engraving is going to be on clear acrylic
