Rochelle, thank you for the comments, I appreciate it!
Uo
You are a wonderful teacher!! Thank you for taking time out to record these videos. MUCH appreciated!! ~Pam
Thank you for your comments, I appreciate it!
Thank you very much SIR , your tutorials are Amazing .
thank you I appreciate your commemts
Very helpful...Thanks !
you are welcome
Thank you for this video... It was a great help
Glad it helped!
Great information, thanks much.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice. Don't use lightbun but thinking. Currently RD works. Tip no. You use use origin and pressing ori9gin. BUT that is what current position does. With this you do not have to press the origin constantly.
OK, I'm thinking. My engrave layer for wood would be different than my engrave layer for acrylics. Would I want to name my Wood layer FRAME WOOD and my Acrylic layer ENGRAVE ACRYLIC... or just put a File Note that opens with said annotations?
Don’t get that far in the weeds it’s not worth it. Remember a color and that color is a function, all your settings should be in the material library. Use that to assign your settings that way you don’t have to remember anything. The problem with assigning settings to layer color is when you pull up that file 6 months from now you won’t know what color does what without retracing you process. Just my 2
@@computercreationz Okay, thanks. Now I have to go to your video re material library and set up my own. I usually use Black for my frame and red for etching. Orange for the tool setting; etc. I just recently realized that every time I opened a file, the settings were from an earlier project. your File Note thing is really coming in handy. Thanks.
Can someone help out? All of a sudden now when I change the passes in lightburn it will indicate the change, but will still do only one pass.
your best source if a forum of the laser manufacturer. that way you get accurate info.
EXACTLY what I needed. Thank you. I like when the presentation is made by an old guy. Because that tells me that you had to feel the same pain like I feel. Don't be offended, I am ~10 years older than you 😉. Again, thank you....Bernd
Glad it was helpful!
Please do more Lightburn video's....this one was great. You are awesome at explaining things. Thank you for going slow, some other people just go so fast and click so fast before I can see what's going on and follow.
Thanks, will do!
Like many others I've watched lots of tutorial videos to try and get to grips with my Atomstack laser. I have to say this was by far the most informative of them all, well done and thank you.
Awesome, thank you!
Still battling with my Atomstack m8
You are a great teacher! I first downloaded Lightburn and thought I'd never be able to figure it out, but with your simple explanations you just might be able to teach an old lady some new tricks...keep the videos coming!
I appreciate the comments and thanks for watching. I too learn something everyday.
I feel the same way!
I learned more from these tips than I've learned from multiple videos I've watched. Thank you!
I got Lightbourn to connect what it was. The whole time was a cable USB cable that came with my laser was no good so I went and got another one. Everything showed up my driver everything so I’m now I’m trying to learn how to do the engraving. Thank you again.
I hear about bad cables all the time so glad upi got it figured out !
@@computercreationz yeah I’m still learning it. I’m trying to make my first engraving, but I don’t know where to start. I gotta bring files into my library and watching videos on UA-cam help me out a lot but sometimes they go too fast cause I try to follow along with the video, but hopefully I’ll figure it out cause I’m excited to do my first cut.
Great video for beginners!! Really appreciate it! Moving from Inkscape/Glowforge to a much bigger machine with lightburn and this bridged a huge learning gap for me!!
Glad it helped!
Thanks so much I'm 50 and I just bought my first laser nova 63. Your videos are super helpful geared for the everyday guy. I thank you
I appreciate your comments, congrats on the big boy! that’s awesome!
BEST VIDEO. I learned so much.. thank you so much!!
Glad it was helpful!
This is just what I've been looking for. New to Lightburn.....So Thank You very much! Jim
Glad to help!
I just found your channel today! I received a xTool D1 for Christmas and have been having a lot of fun with it. I am also new to Lightburn and your videos have really been helping me out! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Great info. I learned a few things. Do you have any easy way to square a piece up perfectly? So far I used a straight edge, then used the beam and taped down some painters tape.
I burned a grid onto my spoil board
Excellent instructional presentation. I learned more in this presentation than I have from many others. Thanks, I will seek out your other tutorials.
Awesome, thank you!
You're awesome! Seriously! Thank you so very much for doing all of these videos! I still have months until my laser arrives...but I'm trying to use this time and take all of this stuff in so I can get rollin' right away! Again...THANK YOU!!!!
Congrats on your laser purchase, I know before I got my laser I spent allot of time on UA-cam taking in anything I could watch, It really helped. I appreciate your comments!
Just bought a used Atomstack P7 and this was really useful in getting to know some settings. Will be watching through other videos. 👍
Glad it was helpful!
This has been the BEST video I have watched on Lightburn so far. Your simple explanations make it easy to understand and comprehend exactly what you are explaining. I can't wait to watch your other videos and see what you have planned for the future! Thank you so much.
Thanks you for your input, I appreciate it. Lots of great stuff in the pipeline!
Awesome video but Lightburn can’t find my laser grbl says idle I’m hew and know noting had my kentok tool jl5 for a week and still can’t use it please help
I don’t have allot of experience with diode laser I’m not much help sorry!
hi thanks your video. When writing text in the program, when a letter is finished, it burns while passing to the other letter. In other words, it progresses by burning up to the next letter without closing like handwriting. I will be glad if you can help me, how should I set it up.
it sounds like you might be running a diode laser. it’s a g code setting that turns that on and off. the lightburn forum should have that topic.
Thanks for the tip about the notes, that one I didn't know.
A counter opinion about making adjustments at the controller.
I try not to make any adjustments at the controller unless I have to because the membrane switches on the controller have a very finite lifespan. Once one of the membranes breaks, that button will stop working and they cannot be repaired only replaced. Since these membrane switches mount directly to the main PC board in the controller, if any moisture gets through a cracked membrane your controller is not long for the world. Your computer mouse is much easier and cheaper to replace.
Thank you for a great video. If I may a constructive thought. Even in full screen it can be hard to follow the cursor with my 80 year old eyes. If you could use the big red cursor which I have introduced to many people it would be great! Look it up, its on the web! thanks it was a great video and I'll be looking at them all!!!
yes thank you for your input, I have since increased my pointer to be big and yellow. thank you !
Thank you so much for your super user friendly video. Brand new to laser (just got mine set up tonight). Looking forward to more. I use a silhouette cameo and the software for that is very similar to this so thank goodness it wasn’t all gibberish ☺️. Very easy to learn from ya, thank you!
I appreciate your comments, thank you so much for watching. Congrats on learning how to create on a laser, it’s so fun!
This video was very helpful and starting to learn Lighburn on my new laser. Enjoy your new sub; looking forward to watching more of your very informative videos. Continued successes to you!
Awesome, thank you!
I put my image in the centre of a box in lightburn and framed it,all looks good but when I engrave it's way over to one side and I can't figure out why,any ideas? Great informative video btw,I've subscribed too👍
Study the start from video I have it might be the way you are using s the start from origin. I use use origin all the time and feel it’s the most useful!
Robert - Sorry to bug you all the time .. but I did something and I'm not real sure how to correct it. On right side of screen (lightburn) I messed up the " cuts/layers ... laser ... shape properties etc .... had them all on right side which they kind of are but my "laser box"runs across the top ... how do you move these around. How do I fix this and is there some kind of "key" that you can click on to get all this back to the way it came.... Thanks if you get to it ... guess I'm experimenting too much some times.. Nat
Goto the Window drop down list at the top of your screen and select reset to default layout.
Awesome video and these help with us newbies. In my version of lightburn, in the mode, it only shows Line - Fill - Offset Fill. I see on your tutorial that you have a Line + Fill. What is the difference between Offset Fill & Line + Fill?
the lightburn documentation has the best explanation for those. usually I use offset fill for engraving a frame on wood but can be hard on your machine. the fill +line is not a mode now and you have to add a tab if you want this mode. this new feature is much more flexable than the old way
Sometimes I feel so stupid. You're still the best. Thanks ..... Nat
OMG, I can't remember if it was one of your tutorials. It showed us how to center both horizontally and vertically using just three buttons?
That was the center finder tool, it’s under laser tools in lightburn. Lightburn has a good video on it
Great, great video and tips. New to this laser stuff and waiting for my machine to come. Will download light burn and have it ready to go!
Have fun!
Mate what a great video, i know it’s a couple of years old but thank you for the way you explain things. As a new user this is so valuable as it is easy to understand. Many thanks. Nb have you done any updates on this with most recent versions of lightburn
Glad you enjoyed it, yes I have a couple of others that are more updated on my channel. they all have a black background so they are easy to find
Everything is explained very nicely. Only I have one question? When I select Library, there is nothing to write in that field.
What should I do?
Greeting
You have to create a destination file first. Go see how to crest a library in my video lineup
Great in-depth tutorial sir!!!! My questions have been answered.
Glad it was helpful!
Noticed the water supply right next to your laser machine, is this your source for the chiller? Do you have a pic you can share? Very interested! Thanks!
Yes it’s an S&A 5000 chiller. You can find them on Amazon. Works great on my 100 watt thunder. This chiller is included in that package
That was a great video. Thanks for those tips. They will make my early weeks of laser engraving much easier.
Glad it was helpful!
Off Topic. I tried Googling this. Is there a difference in how to etch and engrave on tiles. Do you need to paint tiles?
I use black tiles that engrave to white . it getting harder to find solid black tiles
Do you have a start setting for cork? No one seems to have it. I am obviously very new to Lightburn. 100 watt laser.
TY
my setting on cork on my 100 have been 400mm/s at 15%power 7mm focus
I'd like to send an email to you for help specifically with a LIghburn. Is that possible?
reach me through my Facebook business page . Computer Creationz
Thank you for this video. For a graphic designer moving to CO2, this a walk in the park
Glad it was helpful!
thanks so much! i think you explained framing better than another popular laser youtube guy. i won't say his name
Thank you for your comments, I appreciate it!
I’ll try to create a library, but I’m having trouble importing my images into the library
certain file types are not allowed that could be your issue. I import from the LightBurn desktop and have no issues
how do I change from from mm to inches on the top of menu for how big or small your project will be...I can't think in terms of millimeters. thank you
there is a little button just below the preview icon (computer screen) clicking that button dynamically switches between mm and inches
This is an awesome training for newbies. Thank you so very much for doing this video. I give you 💯 and subscribed to your channel
Thank you for your comments, I am glad its helpful.
Learnt a lot on your channel. wish I would have used this as the very first Lightburn tutorial . thank you very much. new subscriber for sure
Thanks for the sub! and the comments
Lightburn doesn't work on my pc
How do you have your field in inches, yet your speed and intervals are set in mm? If I change my settings, it changes both.
if you go into the gear icon there is a choice to have both
I can’t connect to the light burn because it says windows is not compatible with my laser so what can I do?
I would reach out to the laser manufacturer. they know best. good luck
Congratulations on your 1000 subs! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thank you so much!! I enjoy your channel !
@@computercreationz aww thank you, fellow UA-camr. Here’s to an awesome 2021!
I use a laser at Makerspace. If I name my layers will they remain the same for just my future projects. Will naming the layers for my files affect files of other members?
Yes I believe so. Your layers sho be used we w breed as a function and not a setting. Black frame, red cut, blue engrave. Your changing the setting all the time so don’t get hung up on a color is a specific setting those will constantly change
Enjoyed the video as a beginner I learned a lot, however when you changed setting on the fly the result was different, the bottom of the heart was much lighter so how do you resolve this.
You either rerun the the file on the laser. Realize that you will waste some product to generate your settings. Thanks for watching and the comment
AS a new beginner, I'm enjoying the simple way you explain things. You are awesome Thanks
Glad to help! Thanks for watching.
Fantastic video, took me a while to find a video with these type of instructions, how to use my laser to send a design for the very first time!
Glad you liked it!
Best Training for sure! I'm so impressed Robert! Thx for your time and expertise - and the easy teaching style!
I appreciate your comments!
I didnt know the push scroll. Thanks.
Always left thumb on keyboard.
thank you for the comment
I have a tip for you. Turn your curser to black so we can follow it on a light screen.
what a great idea! I will do that for sure. Thanks for the help, it’s the little things sometimes that make the biggest difference.
Hi, How can I stop the laser from burning the "RED LINES".
I’m not sure what you mean by burning the red lines?
I needed this video..before totally being a noob last night .my lettering was even mirrored somehow
allot of the time it’s because your home origin is not set correctly
When i open a file from the Art Library and I want to make a note that always shows up do I have to save it as a new file on the pc? I prefer not to but i think is the only option to add a note to any file.
A graphic from the art library is not a LightBurn file therefore no notes will come with it. When a graphic is dragged from the art library to you desktop it just a graphic. The only way you can save notes is to save your design as a LightBurn file and it’s not stored in the art library. ua-cam.com/video/Rv7GAKFilUs/v-deo.html
hi what do you do when the layer colors panel doesnt show up on your screen. how do you get it back? thankyou for your help.
Go up to window reset to default layout and they should show up
hey there, i am new on this, can you tell me what program do you have to do this please!!
This is LightBurn Software
Can you tell me if the Fiber Laser works on a regular outlet or does it require 220 outlet?
I’m in the USA and it works on 120 volts. Takes less than a hair dryer
I’m just starting out - this is soooo helpful - thank you.
Glad it helped
If you right click on the layer in the control panel you will see what that color is attached to on the canvas.
great input thank you!
Help! I have no colored boxes on my screen
Love the way you presented this. Liked and subscribed.
Thanks for the sub!
New to lightburn. Need help. I thought that i setup everything up right.
Get this messaged. cut of of bounds

[MSG:Caution: Unlocked]
ok
Can you help?
Please help I don’t know how I deleted the color pallet at the bottom for the cut layers
go to window then reset to default layout
There is a better way to mark you frame... Use the T1 or T2. It is designed NOT to burn at all. It is specifically for framing. Give it a try. There are no speed/power settings, so you can't accidently leave it on and ruin a project.
thanks for comment but unless something has changes tool layers can not be output or sent to the controller so you cannot use them for framing on the co2 laser controller. . let me know if I’m wrong!
@@computercreationz I use the Xtool D1, and it works great. You select it, and send it the same way you send the black color you have set up for framing...
Awesome video for someone new like me. Going to sub. Thank you
Thanks for the sub!
When I import a picture, jpg, png and the box or handles around it is larger than the picture, blank space either on the sides or top or both, how to I get the picture to only be the exact size of the picture. I have found when I size this type of image the size used includes this "white" space and makes my image smaller. Your assistance please. Thanks.
remove the white background in a photo program like affinity photo, photoshop or other photo editing program. size your pic in that program. save as a png. don’t resize once in lightburn. you will get much better results.
@@computercreationz Thank you
Great information. Thank you for explaining features.
I have one question. I was using K40 whisperer with my K40 laser and there was an option to invert colors of your design. it was very handy especially for making stamps. for example it would turn black areas to white and vise versa.
Is there a similar function in Lightburn or what would be the procedure?
Thank you very much for your time.....Al
I believe you can invert once you open up your layer, should a invert radio button. i believe it has to be an image though. hope that helps and thanks for watching.
Hello.. Very very very speaking..
Great video, well explained, very useful. Well done.
Many thanks! I appreciate your comments
Hi! How I can download for macbook pro ? I don't find :(
go to the LightBurn website and download the trail.
lightburnsoftware.com/pages/trial-version-try-before-you-buy
Awesome great video! Thank you
Glad you liked it!
Excellent tutorial 😊
Great video mate very helpful..👍
Do you have a video that covers everything? Rather then having to click on attached videos?
Thanks for the comment and watching but that video would be wayyyy to long lol. I find most people loose interest after about 15 minutes.
Hi do you have idea about in cable tie to become more darker laser print in cable tie
Outstanding videos - I am brand new and have learned more from your videos than any other....Thank you !
Thank you for your comments
Very nicely done, learned a couple things. Didn't know what the T colors represented when they were added, and the big one for me was being able to drag the screen around. Been using the scroll wheel to zoom in and out, especially using the editing tool, but the lack of pan bars drove me nuts. One thing about changing the settings of the colors, something I found that can be done if you wish to keep default on start up, but want to change a few for a specific job. Open TWO lightburn sessions, work in one where you make all your changes, and when done, close it first. When you close the second LB window, all the default settings will be saved. This way if you have them all laid out for average jobs, and you need to modify one for just one particular job, you can without disrupting the normal levels and names. What I like about Lightburn is that you can run multiple windows at once, though only the first controls the laser, it allows you to import an SVG or DFX with multiple parts, and you can cut out individual parts, work on them in another window, and save them as single parts. I do a lot of RC airplane parts and this is very helpful for me. If I want to test cut the parts, I import into the second LB window and cut them from there so I can cut from the primary window. I just with is had a dimensioning tool for those angled slots, so the proper degree can be made.
Thank You I appreciate your comments. I know when I found some of these options it made getting around so much easier.
@@computercreationz I actually let out a WOOHOO when I saw where you can move the screen with the mouse!
Thank you so much. Brand new to lasers. Love all your videos! Would love to see more!
Thank you! will be making more
Thank you very much for detail video
You are welcome, and thanks for watching my videos
Very good video. Thanks.
thank you !
THANK YOU! I know it has been awhile since you posted this, but I just got my XTool D1 and I have been struggling with positioning my material. Your video cleared all the fog! Keep up the great work!
Glad it helped! thanks for the comment
Thank you
