    I went to Maui for the first time for a week at the end of Sept-Oct. I snorkeled at Honolua Bay and there was no one snorkeling at the time, so my friends and I had it to ourselves and it was amazing, unlike anything I'd seen. I didn't get to snorkel at Kapalua bay but I will go next time!! Can't wait to go back.

    Kahekili is also our fave beach for snorkeling. We usually stay at the Westin and love how u don’t even need to snorkel to see fish, u can just stick your face in the water and already see a bunch. I hate that I only found out last year that going out a little further shows so much colorful reef. I usually only go out about 30 feet from shore but a little further shows so much more!

    Kapalua bay is the best spot for snorkeling in my opinion. Black rock was nice too but current got a bit too strong and pulled me towards the rocks. Luckily I only got minor scratches and most importantly did not hurt any coral or sea life. My girlfriend and I loved Maui so much that we decided to go back again this upcoming May. Be safe out there!

    We just came back from Maui, with the beaches mentioned in this video anybody will have plenty to do.
    Be aware! During winter months mornings and middle of the day are best to enjoy the beach, when the afternoon comes usually some rain, winds and clouds for sure.

When we went to Black Rock the entry was different, last time I was there it was excellent but now because of beach erosion it is different and drops off quickly. Just got back from Lanai, stayed at Four Seasons and snorkeled at the Manele Marine Conservation. What a treat! Looks like you went snorkeling right by sweetheart rock? Love you two, keep doing you.

On a Hawaii trip last summer, I stayed at Napili Point Resort just to be right next to the hidden gem and could see turtles from our balcony! Other of my favorites include Honolua, Kapalua, and Kahekili Beach as well as Coral Gardens.

      Annette, if you can get a snorkel and fins now and do daily laps in a pool it will build up your stamina and get you used to wearing the gear. Two less things you have to worry about. Get the book "Maui Revealed", (sometimes at the library,) and learn the names of the Hawaiian fish... IMHO

    Hi wonderful people, The video is super informative. We are going to Maui this May, and was looking for snorkelling tips, as I will be trying to for the first time. I am so excited but haven’t booked tour, would like to DIY as my husband is interested in that. I am a non-swimmer. Is swim suit enough for snorkelling ?

    • @TheHawaiiVacationGuide
      @TheHawaiiVacationGuide  Рік тому

      a swim suit is all you need, water temp will be around 77 degrees in May. I wouldn't recommend going if you don't know how to swim. If you are new to snorkeling, do a guided tour as they can give you tips, provide good gear, and keep an eye on you.

  • @turnerdrywallrestoration8077

      sharks are there but we don't worry about them. Stay out of murky water, stay close to show, and watch for lifeguard warnings about shark sightings

    I want to see the list of people that the State of Hawaii has charged with a "felony" for simply touching a sea turtle. Talk about overhype: Ridiculous We're not talking about a violent, property, or white collar crime here.... We're talking about some uninformed person that touched the shell of a sea turtle and was charged by the State (and may or may not be) serving time in prison because of a felony. Also, where does the State of Hawaii place these sea turtle touching pedos? Are they in general population? Or are they in max security?
