    I work in a daycare in the infant room. Recently I have had several parents ask me about self feeding. I’ll be honest and say it concerned me at first because I thought they were to young But after watching your video it makes sense

    What if I started training my baby at a toddler age (age 1) will it be harder to train them or easier? And will I be able to apply the same steps you mentioned or is there a different process for her age?

    What to do if they always throw the spoon instead of bringing it to their mouth? He is 10months now but still the same as I frequently spoon feed liquid food to him but if the food comes in solid form,. He will eat it himself.

    Stabilizing the babies elbow is something I never thought of.

      When teaching a baby as young as 7 or 8 months to dip and scoop the spoon, they need more help coordinating the movement. I find that stabilizing the elbow with one hand while the other hand is guiding the dipping and scooping makes it more doable.

    Hi I'm from India.. I like all ur videos... I'm training my baby for self feeding.. but it's very tough to teach self spoon feeding.

      Thank you for your feedback and thank you for watching me videos. Yes it’s not easy to teach them to self spoon feed. It takes months for babies to grasp the concept and make progress. But continue to give your baby opportunities every day to practice. It’s only a matter of time before the baby gets the hang of it.

    What are the signs of baby ready to eat?

    My 6m old boy will not open at all for the spoon. He keeps trying to take it out my hand. Then I give him it and he bangs it on his high chair and then sooner or later puts it in his mouth. I cannot guide him with a loaded spoon to his mouth he rejects it. Idk what to do I just want him to eat his puréed foods and start the solids. Do I start over and just let him explore with the spoon with no food. He is so distracted in his high chair I have to keep clicking his table. He doesn’t sit still.

    So Im a first time mom and my son is almost 15 months old but is not eating with a spoon or fork yet because i did not know that he needed to start learning this sooner. Are all of your techniques still good for now? Can we start now with the training?

    • @friendlykiddoc8796
      @friendlykiddoc8796  Рік тому +2

      Yes your child is at a great age to learn to become an independent feeder using a spoon and fork. You can apply the techniques mentioned in this video for a toddler as well. Toddlers also learn a lot by observation, and try to model things they see others doing. During meals, demonstrate to your child how you use utensils, and let your child practice using his utensils.

      I’m in the same boat. I was worried about the mess and just found it easier to feed him myself but I’m starting to teach him now.

    What process to follow to a 2 year old kid?

    • @friendlykiddoc8796
      @friendlykiddoc8796  2 роки тому +6

      2 year olds tend to do better at learning from observation. I would try having the toddler as part of the family meal, and let the child practice self feeding with a spoon while observing other family members eating. If the child does not grasp the concept, then I would try doing the steps I outline in this video.
