To prevent cracking in the future, i recommend letting the clay dry in place for a day or so before firing. this allows the excess air and water to leave the clay and not get trapped in the heat.

Let me quote John from one of his videos, I often think of it as inspiration. ``I`ll be glad when summer gets here, not that I mind camping in winter, but there`s certain things you can`t cook on a fire in the rain``. He knows how to enjoy life !

You should make a clay baked fish... Make a 1/2 to 3/4 inch flat sheet of clay 2x the size of your fish. Take a gutted/cleaned fish w skin on and season and stuff the inside. Moisten it well. Place it on the clay and fold and seal it... Add it into your fire coals or kiln to bake... Remove it and break your fire baked vessel to reveal your steamed/baked dinner... Bon appetit !

Tim needs a good lid for the kiln.... then you can make your own charcoal in the kiln.
Put lots of wood on... let it catch fire
Snuff out fire by closing off all holes
    Allow to cool = charcoal

Always let your clay dry out a bit and "settle" before you go ire it. It gives the excess water time to weep out. You will get less cracking and better results.

Has Tim done this before? If he hasn't he's a natural, in my humble opinion. It's like the two of you have gone back to a time before technology, well other than the camera obviously 😊 I think the next step would be to build a Round House now that would be EPIC and AWESOME don't you think? I believe you and Tim could build one in fact I'm sure you could. Great video as always atb and take care

Have you thought of using the kiln to heat some of the shelters? Like using some ducting/pipe (the stuff that compresses down like a slinky) attached to a bracket that hooks to the side of the kiln, hanging just inside so some hot air gets caught and pushed wherever you want it.

Yayyyyyyy another video!! I'm only 6 minutes into this but wanted ask if you guys have considered putting reeds into your clay? • @jackmehoff2961
