I think some people are so quick to write off this film as slasher garbage that they don't stop and realize how beautiful this track is - and how _sad_ the _story_ is.
+TayInTheWay It's one of those cases in which the music is better than the film. Not that the film is bad, but if you hear this track alone you'd never think that it comes from a film like that. It kind of shows serenity and peace at the end, even if we don't know what's gonna happen next.
Indeed. Even more tragic is Jason's story. He wasn't evil incarnate, or a possessed creature, but an innocent kid who got a very raw deal in life. He then saw his mother murdered. Sorry, but I get where Jason is coming from. He never asked for any of this.
Sean S Cunningham pulled off the greatest jump scare in slasher history. Makes you really love this movie even more every time you watch it. Such a classic. One of the best.
That's exactly right. The very best era in horror films was the 70s and 80s. The fact that they are old makes them even creepier, kinda like being in an old house.
The films have aged really well too because they avoided alot of the things which would have really aged them. Working in a summer camp in 2020 would look similar to this. Any retro tech doesn't really feature in the first 6 films, the kind of stuff which really dates a film now. We don't have loads of outdated pop culture references either. There's no CGI either or animation or anything, its all practical effects filmed on real locations and shot on 35mm film which is why when they did the high defintion restoration transfer to Blu Ray these films look so gorgeous today. Its why a film made in 1979 looks so much better than Jason X shot in 2001.
Yeah the fact that they are old low budget movies totally makes them more Creepy. I first saw this shit in 2002 on an old grainy 80s VHS tape and it really made it more eerie.
Her blue eyes ends with lake in peace with close shot classic ending no matter how many times Friday the 13 remake they make cannot touch original. Heart touching music
When Friday the 13th begins, you know it’s going to be a low budget, okay Slasher. As it goes on, kills her awesome and gruesome, and you wonder, who’s the killer? Crazy Ralph? Steve? Who could it be? Then, Betsy Palmer walks in, all smiles and serenity, playing a character named Mrs. Voorhees. The tone of her voice changes slowly, making you confused…she snaps. She grabs a knife, and you’re fearing for your knife along with Alice. After a great climactic chase, serenity fills the air, with this song. You get a fantastic jump scare, and a chilling end line, but then this song plays once more, all the way through. Soothing, but filled with so much sadness. Yes, Mrs. Voorhees was an awful woman. But all she wanted was her little boy back. And…there was nothing she could do. If you let the original ending sit with you, it hints Jason may be alive, but he’s trapped down there. Maybe it’s his spirit, or some sort of projection of himself. Believe me, I love a guy in a mask killing people one by one. But this one has an ending that breaks my heart, and has resonated with me my entire life.
I remember watching these movies as a kid, and it wasn't until my teenage years that I got to see the original. And still to this day, I believe it's the best one. I always enjoyed this story better than what it went on to be. Not to say Jason isn't awesome, because he is. But the original story surrounding pamela is a masterpiece and I'd love for someone to remake it.
Cool horror film which has at its core an element of the tragic. Its doesn't get too loud or over the top and absurd like later sequels could but managed to stay quite grounded.
This song actually reminds me a bit of the music from Twin Peaks. Very haunting. It's been in head for years and glad to hear it again. Thanks for posting.
This might be my favourite of the franchise. Its the most plausible, there's no zombie on the loose or unkillable monster, just a crazed mother who's all too human. The camp characters are all actually quite nice and decent. We don't get the super bitch characters and doches we get later on or the smug cowardly authority figure adults, just a group of nice relatable young people. I loved how it wasn't clear who the main focus would be on until the final 20 minutes so we don't know who the final girl will be or even who the killer could be. Its really nicely shot for a low budget film, lots of handheld but no shaky cam. There's a bit of sex there but they don't over do it . Alice is sweet 💕 and likeable, she does just enough to survive and you can tell see hates having to fight, its really traumatic but she manages to do it. Also unlike Laurie in Halloween or Nancy in Nightmare on Elm Street shes not a goody two shoes either. She smokes weed in the film and has a relationship with the owner, so that's a nice break from only the purest dullest person gets to live trope.
jason's death was the result of negligence. his prejudice towards those who utilize the lake that he drowned in is slighlt justified. the series sticks out amongst the other slasher films because of its moral.
It really breaks my heart when the police chief has to tell Alice that all her friends are dead. He also says that two of his officers pulled her out of the lake and thought she was dead to.
Reverb Filter, Delay Filter, Echo Filter. Use an EQ to cut down the lower and higher frequencies to make it sound like it's coming from a weaker speaker, etc. Around 48s you can hear a Cello in the background, and the main Drone is definitely using a Phaser filter.
not gonna lie this track actually gets me very emotional.. i had a cat son named pookie lost him june of this year and this song seems to reflect pam's grief for the loss of her son and it makes me think of how i feel without pookie..
I find it a little ironic that this pretty and soft of a song was the closing bookend the first installment of a long running series. If anything, it almost seems more fitting to be used as the credits of final film. Now I'm not saying this song doesn't work for this movie and I'm certainly not saying it would work to close out Jason X. I'm just saying if they ever officially ended the series with Jason never to return, this would be the song to end it with.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ive been searching for this song for YEARS,,,omg, i finally hear how it ends! lol thank you so much, i LOVE this song. my favorite part of the whole fuckin series is this song!
naylorfan90 It reminds me more of Laura Palmer's theme than the opening theme. Can't say it's confirmed, but I would not be surprised if Angelo Badalamenti took a little inspiration from this.
well, jason's overall character and a hockey mask are much more iconic than a scarred mother. the movies wouldn't have been the iconic films we know them as if we didn't ever get the hockey mask.
Today is Friday the 13th and it is impossible not to remember Adrienne King. I wish her a long life, and if it depends on me, she will never be forgotten.
This is 1980 so it's still a time when their was feeling even with a choppin/horror movie! This feels like a kazillion years ago to me! This music at the end in part 1 I always thought was touching n sad, the same in prom night at the end it was like that, they killed their sister thru insensitivity an they had something comin ta them, it was the brother an he had right too!! These movies had a moral n story an a meaning to what was bein done! Regardless!! Be good!!🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🐘🐼🐬🐳🐕🐅🐻🐄🐖
There are a ton of timeline problems with F13. But in part 2 Jason is full grown, basically the ending of the first never happened, it was alice's dream/hallucination.
Listening back on this theme I can definitely hear some similarities between this and "Laura Palmer's theme" from the show Twin Peaks. It's not confirmed, but I wouldn't be surprised if composer Angelo Badalamenti got some of his inspiration from Harry Manfredini's score in Friday the 13th.
Makes me think about how the lawsuit may never end. And how we may never get another movie. Even one movie to bring it to a grand total of 13 would be nice.
This is a bit sad cause this year is the 40th anniversary of a saga that change the horror for a long time. And sadly this year, it's almost guarantee, we won't have anything for celebrating Mrs Voorhees or Jason. Only for a legal issue
“Then he’s still there.” Is the creepiest Friday the 13th movie quote ever.
I think some people are so quick to write off this film as slasher garbage that they don't stop and realize how beautiful this track is - and how _sad_ the _story_ is.

Beautifully put
+alexcnb it reminds me of the credits of manhunt.
Every horror friend I know likes this movie to some degree. That's all that matters to me. And yes, the music is great!
NO!! Tom Savini did it 👍
love this theme, its sad in a way, but it is so good.
That's exactly right. The very best era in horror films was the 70s and 80s. The fact that they are old makes them even creepier, kinda like being in an old house.

R.I.P. Betsy Palmer
Anwaar Morales
She’s gone? Since when omg :(
Rest in peaces.
Matt. Mcdermott. I. Will. Say. Rip. Betsy. Palmer.
She has been dead since 2015
This was a touching score by Harry Manfredini
Her blue eyes ends with lake in peace with close shot classic ending no matter how many times Friday the 13 remake they make cannot touch original. Heart touching music
Save Mother Earth Please well imo I think part 4 is the best
If they make another remake, they better remaster this soundtrack with this song
I love this piano theme very much.
And then fucking Jason comes out out of nowhere
Go back to Pamela being the killer, with some new twists and turns.
Then he's still there..
Ma'am.. we didnt find any boy...
Yes, yes he is.
And he stays there for another 8 movies😂😂
one of the best film music ever for an amazing beautiful cinema ending sequence
Some people think I’m weird but I honestly think Alice is gorgeous
My first crush. I'm 47.
Agreed
She is prolly the hottest girl to ever live.
Your weird if you DON'T THINK Adrian King is gorgeous. Truly stunning woman.
Not weird at all. She’s very beautiful.
So perfect movie...a masterpiece in every aspect

Mayor McCheese Out-fucking-standing.
🤘👽
Very well put... Beautifully tragic ending
Wow!
To me it really is a stand alone film of horror, tragedy, and loss.
It's impossible that a granny can kill so many people with no difficulties.
This theme is beautiful and very well laid out in a horror movie.
I remember watching these movies as a kid, and it wasn't until my teenage years that I got to see the original. And still to this day, I believe it's the best one. I always enjoyed this story better than what it went on to be. Not to say Jason isn't awesome, because he is. while hearing this, you'd think the movie was almost over until Jason jumps out of the water.
My step-sister and her boyfriend took me to the drive in when this opened; just to watch me reaction. Terrified me & became a horror addict
It's like the final scene from "Carrie" four years earlier: with pretty music they soothe you into believing the horror has ended. Then they git ya!
Best slasher movie ever! And the music is a MASTERPIECE!
Such beautiful music! 😢
May Briana
May Briana this is the truth! Be good!🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🐘🐼🐬🐳🐅🐕🐻🐄🐖

This ending number seems to predict how tragic a fate that campground has as seen in the long series of films.
I would like to have this played at my funeral... and pay someone to rush in screaming as the scare chord comes in.
That sounds amazing, haha
It’s a FUNeral
Or have a boat funeral and have someone jump out of the water.
Or have a closed casket but then at just the right moment you have a replica of the 1980 lake Jason pop up out of the coffin to scare the mourners.
Cool horror film which has at its core an element of the tragic. Its doesn't get too loud or over the top and absurd like later sequels could but managed to stay quite grounded.
Dec 2018, l still enjoy this beautiful ending musical.
2022 and still enjoying it as well
this closing credit is a stroke of genius, like Pino Donaggio's Carrie ending theme
very soothing music.
Such a beautiful haunting piece of music ❤
This song actually reminds me a bit of the music from Twin Peaks. Very haunting. It's been in head for years and glad to hear it again. Thanks for posting.

Laurie smokes weed in Halloween, you dope.
This is fucking beautiful, sad, dark & yet happy all at the same time.
Yup!
jason's death was the result of negligence. his prejudice towards those who utilize the lake that he drowned in is slighlt justified. the series sticks out amongst the other slasher films because of its moral.
Clyde Smith Bravo sir!!!!
Exactly. Beautifully written.
He didn't drown though apparently?
To be continued next week episode. Should have been ended now
beautiful!!
It really breaks my heart when the police chief has to tell Alice that all her friends are dead. He also says that two of his officers pulled her out of the lake and thought she was dead to.
So beautiful. Reminds me of the happier times that are long gone 💔❤️
you do understand this is a movie right ?
why do I like this tune so much?
i do too lol
because its beautiful
Because it’s a soundtrack from Friday the 13th ☝️☝️☝️
😅
Because it makes you feeeeel
Great song for a great movie.
Reverb Filter, Delay Filter, Echo Filter. Use an EQ to cut down the lower and higher frequencies to make it sound like it's coming from a weaker speaker, etc.
Around 48s you can hear a Cello in the background, and the main Drone is definitely using a Phaser filter.
i remember being so happy my mother allowed me to dress up as Jason Voorhees for Halloween. I was 3.
Last year, I disguised myself as Jason Voorhees and this year, Halloween or not, I will be disguise as Jason again
Why is it the 80's soundtracks are the best?
What a beautiful piece of music along with tiny sparrow brings a kinda peace to the horror
There was something about 70s and 80s theme music that was so creepy in this is a fine example. Good stuff though.
I like the song with the flanger effect in the background.
not gonna lie this track actually gets me very emotional.. i had a cat son named pookie lost him june of this year and this song seems to reflect pam's grief for the loss of her son and it makes me think of how i feel without pookie..
Still spooks me. Old horror films/theme music like this were made to last.
This makes me feel hope like that special someone is out there.
I absolutely adore this song.

l used to put this movie in the VCR right b4 bed time. this tune reminds me my 90s
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ive been searching for this song for YEARS,,,omg, i finally hear how it ends! lol thank you so much, i LOVE this song. my favorite part of the whole fuckin series is this song!
Awesome - thanks. I play this scene over and over again.
2 reasons - great scene!!!! and great music!!!!
well angelo badalamenti was definitely taking some notes from this tune
Really awesome piece of music
Does this sound similar to the opening theme of Twin Peaks to anyone else?
Or... the opening theme of Twin Peaks is similar to this :D
naylorfan90
It reminds me more of Laura Palmer's theme than the opening theme. Can't say it's confirmed, but I would not be surprised if Angelo Badalamenti took a little inspiration from this.
well, jason's overall character and a hockey mask are much more iconic than a scarred mother. the movies wouldn't have been the iconic films we know them as if we didn't ever get the hockey mask.
i've had the same thought actually
Beautiful, yet a sad ending. I’m furious that I wasn’t alive to experience the release of this movie.
Today is Friday the 13th and it is impossible not to remember Adrienne King. I wish her a long life, and if it depends on me, she will never be forgotten.
Daqui do Brasil que trilha sonora sexta feira 13 saudades anos 80 tempos em que passava só filmes bons
I wish more horror films would end with music like this on a somber, but yet vindicated and completed feeling
Beautiful!
this pulls at my heart stings i cry everytime at the end of the movie when i hear it
Beautiful theme
Nice music.
The most iconic scene in horror cinema
EXCELLENT THANKS FOR POSTING IT-IAM WATCHING THE MOVIE ON AMC RIGHT NOW FEAR FEST:D

If only they added the wee wee wee. Wee wee wee. Lol that was part of the song during the movie. :)

One word
Nostalgic

I watch Friday the 13th end credits I cried

@metalgamer83 Oddly enough, it was just put up at iTunes last week.
I loved that era of horror movies. This, along with "Halloween", "My Bloody Valentine" and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" are among the best.
I was waiting for that part where jason pops out .
ahh, such a good movie.
He’s still there
This song is too beautiful for this movie lol. Don't take that the wrong way. I love these movies!
What's the effect that is used on this music to give it that echoy-ish sound? I'm trying to do it with a track on Final Cut?
esse som traz paz e relaxamento
É meio triste rs
Bella melodía
JAYSON I LIKE YOU !!!!!!!WO BIST DU ( where are you)))??????((((((((((
༎ຶ‿༎ຶ(༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ)༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽
This a great soundtrack, and it's sad
Such a beautiful song for a slasher film.
Friday the 13th= this.
Freddy vs Jason= Rock soundtracks.
How changes everything.
Makes me think about how the lawsuit may never end. And how we may never get another movie. Even one movie to bring it to a grand total of 13 would be nice.
El final en el lago y la canción elevan el nivel de la película.
Where the hell can I get this music, I fucking LOVE it
This is a bit sad cause this year is the 40th anniversary of a saga that change the horror for a long time.
And sadly this year, it's almost guarantee, we won't have anything for celebrating Mrs Voorhees or Jason.
Only for a legal issue
only some good fan filmslike blood rose a sequel from part 7 with some characters reprising their roles like dr crews
It's a real park today !
Anybody know if there is a copy of the version played on the radio throughout the movie ( the one with lyrics) is floating around anywhere?
*(Jason in background crying in pain)*
la escucho siempre para dormir
Scream, Friday the 13th, Child's Play and Candyman had the best themes in Horror.
Good soundtrack
@ryuouji Who sings the country version?
