Mom played this over and over when I was 9 years old. It was the most beautiful sound I’d ever heard and I would ask her to play it again every time we were on the road. She passed away last year while I was living in Thailand and when I came back to pack her things and have her car detailed, this randomly came on through her CD player while I was in reminiscence of her. She was such a beautiful woman. Rest In Peace momma. Will see you again one day...
My father used to listen to this when he used to clean in saturday mornings. I lost him to cancer five years ago and each time I listen to this I connect with him and teleport back in time.
Proof that music can move you like a time machine... I can only begin to imagine the pain and beauty you experience every time you hear this track - your comment even made my eyes get wetter. Stay in the light and keep striving!
I was the DJ at the wedding of one of my friends. The party was held in a church in Leiden, Holland. At the party i played disco as they requested. But at the soundcheck beforehand i played this track. It was magic to play it in a beautiful big church!! The sound inside a Church is very special and different from any soundsystem. I am an Indian and i never liked Indian music . As a kid i heard this somewhere and i felt so mystical. I had no words to describe it . That was my first experience to a music that touched my soul.
It feels like you are walking alone on a mountain you seen the first snowfall , animal around the rivers , birds flying above your head , and you see from distance smoke from someone burning fire , and it’s early morning .. it feels amazing
I was 45 when this fist came out. Loved it from the first time I heard it. The Gregorian Chant has always been very mystical and haunting. The sound of them singing in church echoing everywhere is totally captivating to me. Maybe it's my Italian, Catholic background, I don't know. Bringing it into a new Era at the time was quite daring. It still works today. I'll be 78 in April and I still love to hear this. 🙏💙
Few people know who was behind the "band" Enigma. It was not a band really but rather the personal project of Romanian-Austrian musician and producer Michael Cretu. Cretu was the husband of German-French singer Sandra, formerly a singer of disco ensemble Arabesque, whose personal album he had written and produced in 1985 with hits such as "Maria Magdalena" (one of the biggest hits of the 1980s). Cretu was a classically trained pianist and composer but he loved pop music since a young age and hence he worked as a session musician, band member and producer in many different projects in Germany and UK including having co-produced Mike Oldfield's 1987 album "Islands". At the same time he was writing and producing his wife Sandra's 3rd personal album "Into a Secret Land" which would be compositionally less pop, more complex, and interestingly had included in there an intro of a brief sample of Gregorian chants. Oldfield greatly appreciated Cretu's mastery and talent and encouraged him to concentrate on writing and producing music of his own. Cretu heeded the advise and since 1988 started working on his own project which he called Enigma. As he said, he wanted to make music that he likes to listen himself, with a touch of magic and mysticism. Once he was about to release the album he told Sandra "Either this will become a huge hit or a complete flop", so he was not at all surprised when it indeed became a huge hit. Back in 1990, it was clear since the first moment that Enigma was that sort of music that would remain timeless. Enigma was liked by all, not just pop and electro fans but by hard rockers and heavy metal fans alike and influenced greatly a large range of genres. And yet Michael Cretu never placed himself forward, he was a very private man. You can mostly see him in Sandra's video clips such as playing the bass and singing in Sandra's 1985 "Maria Magdalena". You wouldn't believe that this stereotypically 1980s pop-looking guy would be behind Enigma!

This song takes me to a place that doesn't exist in this world. It takes me to a place where the troubles of this world don't exist, it takes me to a safe place where you can enjoy life.
My mother used to play this in her car when I was a child. When some 20 years passed by and I suddenly stumbled upon this song. The nostalgia and the emotions I received that day was so unexplainable and overwhelming. It was like I recognized the song from something inside me that made me silent. Then after a few times playing it and deeply thinking about it, I remembered it. I think I am going to grant a CD of this album cover to her. she deserves to be given her lost CD. Time, dear people, is the thing that frightens me the most, yet make so many things pass by like a speeding train. It's incredible how time passes on and so do we. I hope I can make my mother happy for this. Thank you for reading my comment, I wish you a lot of emotional dept within this song. I believe this song really calms me and makes me believe that the end isn't so bad afterall and it is about the journey.
This is not a song..... it's a masterpiece, it's also a time machine!!! Close your eyes and listen.... It takes you back all those years.... Or just takes you to a better place of now!!! Perfection!!!
Yep, me too...Catholic it has the mystery of faith ....along with the subtle Native American mystical sounds....and now your journey...the Gregorian chants.....Brilliant!
The song that single handedly brought gregorian chants back, made the peruvian flute music popular, and created ASMR. Truly a masterpiece ahead of its time.
30 years old and just come across this my mum used to play it over and over when I was a child. Honestly searching high and low for years so glad I found it again. Relieving so much anxiety
X 2! I used to listen to this song when I was a child. A local TV channel used it in one of the commercials. I never knew its title and I just came over it, too. I thought it was only me looking for it, but I see I wasn't lol
This piece of music was my guiding light in the confusion of my soul's darkness, a rope I clung to so I wouldn't fall into the deep valleys of my soul. This music saved me.
sameee!!! whahhaha so you participate in.dance group even though you dont know how to dance but to experience it only bcoz of friends...ahhhh. good old days
This song brings me instant peace and contentment. Enigma captured my heart years ago. Brilliant music that I believe only appeals to people with an ability to believe in a possible perfect world. I am 85 and so grateful for my passion in music. I wish people would open their minds and hearts. ❤️
This song holds so many memories from my childhood. My dad used to play this all the time as hed pick me up from school in his 1992 dodge colt hatchback 😭.... damn, life is really all about those small moments that make you feel so full inside.. Id give anything to go back.
First time I listened to this was back around 1990. My mother would listen to Enigma back then all day long. And it just stayed with me. Loved Enigma ever since. I lost her to cancer a week ago and I came here to listen to her favorite music once again.
my dad used to play this song for us in the car when we are traveling or have a long ride or even going to the beach ; now i moved abroad i started working at a company n i always listent to it while i work it makes me cry cuz i miss my family n i hate the fact that am lonely in this country , so i listen it to reminds me of the good days i had back then ,
Enigma reminds me of my early 20s when I was nursing in Leeds at the Clarendon Wing. Thirty years on I am a single mother of 2 wonderful teens and coping with looming Empty Nest Syndrome :( I have suffered from depression and now have severe OCD which I battle with daily. Listening to wonderful Enigma again is making me reminisce and I had forgotten just how incredibly powerful it is!!!!
Same for me. I love the music but it does bring up memories. I remember living briefly in Seattle in the late summer, autumn, winter, spring, early summer of 1994-95. I used to play the cassette a lot in my car during autumn and this was among my favorite tracks.
This song for me is a true classic, it makes me travel spirituality into space, through galaxies an calms my nerves. I never new the name of the song, now I finally found it. ❤
Both of my parents, since passed, loved listening to Enigma and this song is one that instantly reconnects me to them. Missed, but momentarily reunited in the music.
You see, there is all kinds of music for everyone. But there it's also Enigma, which is music for the soul. It doesn't matter how old you are, what gender or race you are, what's your social status, which continent and country you are from, what religion you like, Enigme WILL ALWAYS touch your soul. By far one of the most profound and game changing music styles ever made, thank you Michael Cretu for your divine work.
Well I'm not that "old" (I'm going to be 25 this year) but I've always known this song because of my parents. They used to blast this along with many other '80s songs on the car's radio and I'm really thankful to them for that. I know a lot of good '80s songs because of them :)

Música para eternidade!!! Enigma fez parte da minha adolescência, onde estava descobrindo muita coisa de minha vida... Em 2020 alguém ouvindo essa preciosidade🙋🙋🙋
When I was 9 years I was listening to this masterpiece in my dad’s car, I felt a strange feelings but it was deeply, now I’m 30 years and I finally found the song now from that time… 9 May 2023 00:54 am
The first time I heard this song was in 1992 when I was 16 years old. I was at a stereo shop with some friends and the owner put this on in one of the cars he was doing an install on. The bass was incredible. It shook the walls and windows. To his day when I hear any enigma song I’m taken back to that time and many others in my life.
i too have similar hi-fidelity nostalgia related to this song, there was a person in my locality who used a pro level sub in his skoda octavia, where the entire bootspace was used as enclosure, and he always passed by playing enigma sadeness, second encounter was when in a showroom, the sales person played this song on onkyo tower speakers in one corner of showroom and i and my friend were immediately drawn in direction of the sound, but as there was no internet on our phones back then we didn't know the name of this song, finally i came to know of this song when a person played it on his system and i asked him the song name.

Now my favourite track of all time. Honestly so beautiful and uplifting. I’m at the lowest point of my life right now and when I put this on it truly takes the pain away. It really is amazing how this track affects so many peoples lives, truly a blessing. Love to all!
I've never really gotten very much into this kind of music, but there's just something magical about this song. For decades, I've found myself coming back to it over and over and over again.
I am 60 years old, when I traveled up and down the Seaboard I would play this piece. It's sound stirred me, excited me as I drove through the back highways of Southeastern United States. I am still in love with it today, this music still inspires me. . .👣🐾
Some songs can be used for deep healing, great imagination and peace and interplanetary communication. They live beyond time. This is one of them. Masterpiece of earth
I first heard this song when I was 14 in 1990. I lived on a street that had many blocks of apartments and one of the neighbours always played Sadeness Part 1 in his car. I was just discovering electronic music at the time and I always enjoyed this song. Today in 2024 I still enjoy listening to Enigma’s first few albums often. Timeless classics that I never really thought would endure.
I have Soo many memories of this song. . A masterpiece indeed. An emotion yes. Just a beautiful piece of music that has transcended time. 1990 right?? Takes me on a journey. Peaceful and spiritual . I have it on my playlist.. listen to it everyday. . Forever will. Beautiful Enigma.
I totally agree. It's so beautiful yet so haunting. It reminds me of a time that I know can never return so I come to UA-cam and I go there. 1991-1994 RIP
One of the most legendary songs of all time. I remember my dad playing this to me for the first time when I was just 10 and I was entranced, 17 years later and it only keeps getting better. This will live on forever.
Translation of the latin lyrics: Let us proceed in peace In the name of Christ, Amen With angels and children Let us be found faithful Lift up your gates, princes And be lifted up, eternal gates And the king of glory shall enter Who is this King of glory? Sit down, tell me Sit down, donne-moi Let us proceed in peace In the name of Christ, Amen Sit down, tell me What is it that you are looking for? What is this religion? Where are your faithful ones? If you are against Dieu, you are against Man Sade, es-tu diabolique ou divin? Sade, dis-moi (Hosanna) Sade, donne-moi (Hosanna) Sade, dis-moi (Hosanna) Sade, donne-moi (Hosanna) In the name of Christ, Amen
Damn! Escuzzi par le mu francais. Francois. So I take it that it is you, who knoweth all the lyrics to this, this, like. This echo. Echo of my life. A ripple. Truly. Of majestic days. Never to revisit. And never to repeat. Instead, to cherish always. And treasured tallied and reverberated constantly? Is that you? Do tell! Wow! To bee The Keeper of a File So Grandiose. I salute thee and thank thine ubiquitous ambitions for Archiving really. For Humanity. Both regular hiuman beings and peasants alike.

One of the most legendary songs of all time. I remember my dad playing this to me for the first time when I was just 10 and I was entranced, 17 years later and it only keeps getting better. This will live on forever.
Translation of the latin lyrics:
Let us proceed in peace
In the name of Christ, Amen
With angels and children
Let us be found faithful
Lift up your gates, princes
And be lifted up, eternal gates
And the king of glory shall enter
Who is this King of glory?
Sit down, tell me
Sit down, donne-moi
Let us proceed in peace
In the name of Christ, Amen
Sit down, tell me
What is it that you are looking for?
Le Bien par le Mal
La Vertu par le Vice
Sade, dis-moi, pourquoi l'évangile du Mal?
What is this religion? Where are your faithful ones?
If you are against Dieu, you are against Man
Sade, es-tu diabolique ou divin?
Sade, dis-moi (Hosanna)
Sade, donne-moi (Hosanna)
Sade, dis-moi (Hosanna)
Sade, donne-moi (Hosanna)
In the name of Christ, Amen
✝✝✝
