Lyrics:
Fallen angels into the street
It's an empty dance
And so incomplete
The hallow voices which spread a cry
For the devil's night
There's a reason why
You tried before, but you can't buy a clue
No matter what you do
The darkest side of the night
Burns like a fire
For the wasted lives
And there's no way you can fight, just show some respect, and try to survive!
On the darkest side!
Neon shadows that point the way, never lead you out, it's a game they play
The madness comes and the madness goes
It's a simple world
But it's all they know
You try to fix it but theres nothing you can do
You just gotta see it through
The darkest side of the night
Burns like a fire
For the wasted lives
And there's no way you can fight, just show some respect, and try to survive!
On the darkest side!
In this city, you give and they take
You reach the limit, you bend, and then you break
And there's no escape!
Theres no escape!
NO!
The darkest side of the night
Burns like a fire
For the wasted lives
And there's no way you can fight, just show some respect, and try to survive!
On the darkest side!
The darkest side of the night
Burns like a fire
For the wasted lives
And there's no way you can fight, just show some respect, and try to survive!
On the darkest side!
This is one of the most 80's sounding songs there is.
Yes it Definitely Gets you in the zone! I love 80s Music although I was born ‘94 Now I’m 23. 80s Music is everything!!!!!
Right On! and I'm Lovin' It
Let's rock with Mr Voorhees
I was literally thinking that and then saw your comment hahahah
I wish I could of experienced the 80's first hand everything seemed futuristic and alive
Driving out of Manhattan through the Lincoln tunnel into New Jersey with this song on at 1am was ABSOLUTELY peaceful
That sounds awesome!
I'm not the only one!!! (Manhattan into Brooklyn here)
Fuck New Jersey shit sucks
genio
Watch for Jason dude lol.
How the utter hell could anyone dislike this song.
1980s music always will be fabulous.
Prob because the movie was dissapointing for people in general
Yeah I agree with you
That’s a person that obviously has no soul 🤦🏾♂️
1990 release date so wrong decade kid.
@CB-ux5xc maybe soundtrack but movie was released in 1989 😉
This song is way too good for the movie - deserved to be a radio hit!
Agree
This would be #1 on my Spotify rewind...IF IT WAS ON SPOTIFY!
How come this song isn’t on Spotify?

@@guillermohernanmedranoolme8100I'm doing that now, as well. 😊
This song has a unique nostalgic feel to it. Its depressing and tranquil at the same time. I can't explain it.
I completely understand.
This is grimy New York heroine music
Facts
100% truth.
I like how you said you can't explain it after just explaining it.
This song is 1 of the main reasons why I like Jason takes Manhattan
Me too!
I like it even though some fans say its the worst one
@@robertconrad410 it's near the bottom for me only about parts 5&9 still has some great moments though
I appreciate the presence of Kelly Hu.
Me too. I love this song so much! ❤ I am so glad that this movie was filmed in the city that I was born and raised and still reside there. Big up to the city that never sleeps NEW YORK CITY! 🗽🚖🚕🇺🇸 AKA THE BIG APPLE!! 🍎

This is now my definitive 80s power ballad. It's perfect.
Another misinformed. This was originally supposed to be released in late 1990 so it’s an early 90s hit. That’s also when you heard it on the radio day and night in 1990. That’s a fact.
@@CB-ux5xcIt's also a fact that the song was in Jason Takes Manhattan, which was released in July 1989.
@@CB-ux5xc Then it's my definitive 90s power ballad too. It can have both decades.
@@CB-ux5xcI never heard this song on the radio.
This song totally sets the mood for the movie!
It Totally does. The feel of a run-down sleazy city.
+mrExcellent101 Too bad this film isn't in New York enough.
+Joshua Bruce Exactly. They should've called it 'Jason Takes a Cruise Ship.'
+mrExcellent101 Or "Jason Take a Boat Ride"
+Joshua Bruce Or Jason Takes Vancouver.
Jason plays this when he's decorating his bodies
😆😂😂😂😆😜
80's years I still love you...
Jason lives forever.
The actor that plays him his real name Is Kane HODDER
It's funny that even in 1988/89 when NYC was still a sleazy city they were worried about what a poster for a horror movie could do to their tourism business.
+J.D. Contreras Seeing that mention of the Twin Towers makes me think we would've had an easier time taking down terrorists with Jason on our side. We'd have to stay out of his way, of course. He's no hero!
You do realize Jason is a fictional character and in no way could help with the war on terror, right?
+Anthony Badessa It was before Rudy's time. I think Koch or Dinkins was in office at the time. But I remember NYC back then was dangerous.
Time square was a shit hole back then .. 👍
O
Back when New York was sleazy. I remember hearing this leaving the theater 25 years ago, seems like just yesterday.
@Ryan Ramsook - Oh, yeah? Well, not to mention the drugs and enormous amount of crime that made the old New York City UNSAFE for decades until it was changed in the 1990's and 2000's, and you still think that the old days were way better than today? YOU must be that nuts!
When did New York stop being sleazy?
@@house1203 - I think it was because of the role of the politicians in getting rid of the crime that has infected New York City, such as drugs, prostitution and too much homelessness as well. Then the new wave of businesses took over and replaced the old ones that were considered "sleazy." That all happened in the 1990's and it continues perhaps even today. For anyone who preferred the old, sleazy days of NYC, have NO understanding the devastating effects of the old period on the lives of the people who felt unsafe.
@@robertpolanco1973 We want the sleaze and danger; we don't want it to be safe for you to go shopping.
@@adolfhitler-er7sw - What are you? A fucking moron or something? I think you should go fuck yourself for your stupidity!

It's like this, We live in claustrophobia, the land of steel & concrete. Trapped by dark waters. There is no escape. Nor do we want it. We've come to thrive on it and each other. You can't get the adrenaline pumpin without the terror, good people, I love this town.
Who is that that narrorates at the beginning of the movie? It sounds like Adam West to me.
No place like NYC
Excellent

damiandadamn It's Almost like Describing Gotham City. LOL!!!
"NEW YORK HAS A NEW PROBLEM"

Nope, a cruise ship does. Most of the movie took place there, not NYC!
I think Jason fits right in there.
Yep. 95% on cruise ship in 5% in New York(Vancouver) XD
@@dansufor5856 because they didn't have enough money in the budget to shoot everything in new york
“Man Behind the Mask” was, for the longest time, widely considered the best jam of the entire series.
I think this aged better and is actually the best song - and anthem - of the franchise today.
Jason voorhes will always be an icon of terror that will not be forgotten by anyone

@Bonobo Protocol records I can understand since they sound different but cd's only hold data that you could just download or stream
@Bonobo Protocol oh yeah it makes sense. I also refuse to buy video games digitally for the same reason. I just never spend money on music since you can stream everything now
In my eyes, even Julius got his head chopped off by Jason, Julius is still my hero because he was stranded on the top of the building with Jason chasing him, he had to conquered his fears and have no choice but to boxed Jason in order to stay alive, so he kept boxing Jason continued to pound him in the face and was giving everything he got to try to knock out Jason until he run out of energy than Jason took control of him and killed Julius. Julius is one of my inspiration and should be an inspiration to others that when things get tough, never give up and try your best of all your abilities to defeat your biggest fear, even if you can't take it anymore.
Well said!
Absolutely
That was probably my favourite scene in the movie for that very reason.
That's probably where Mortal Kombat got the idea for Johnny Cage's Head Uppercut Fatality lol
Cool way of looking at it
Welcome back to the 80's love It
You can't get the adrenaline pumping without the terror, good people!
How that gun dangles around his left hand lol DAWN OF THE DEAD
+Gangster Jim Greatest zombie movie of all time.
Marlon Xenomorph that's why Julian had such good adrenaline on the rooftop fighting Jason i damn sure give him a A besides Tina he was the only one to really stand up to Jason
You're forgetting Trish in The Final Chapter! Yes, it was Tommy who finished him off in that film, but Trish put up a hell of a fight!
Trish was one of my favourite final girls. She fought of Jason with machete, hammer and a television.
They dont make soundtracks or movies like this anymore. In the old movies you were hoping one or two of your favorite characters lived , nowadays you pray every plastic person in the movie would die already, including the director.
SiriusfromOrion Truer word's have never been said 👏
you are one wise man
You are a bad ass
I don't know...most of these classic slashers were FILLED with plastic 80s types and half of them were so annoying you rooted for Jason or Micheal to finish them off.
I'll give you likable characters in the Nightmare movies, as those were about the protagonists fighting their fears and hang-ups so they had stronger characterization, but Friday in particular was overflowing with selfish, shallow and/or irritating characters.
@@HiddenInTheTruth I think that mostly came in as the sequels grew in numbers. They all had some unlikable characters but I don't think many people WANTED them to die.
This song creates that perfect late 80's big city at night vision in my head
This song is so relaxing. It matches perfectly when I think about the american way of life in the 80s. And I love this movie. Love Jason's suit and awesome looking mask. Love how he destroyes the diner door. Love the radio kick scene. Love the roof fight. Love JJ's Flying V and song (another great rock song btw). I really can't understand why people dislike this movie, it's killer!
Yea that wa one of the best Jason Suits of the series. I have the mask from this movie tatted on my arm.
Pretty cool 👌
It's so much fun. Way better than The New Blood.
Very heavy censorship and 90% of the movie taking place on a boat rather than “Manhattan” are the reasons why this film is frowned upon.
Definitely relaxing 💯
You better show some respect and try to survive!
is everyone ready play as Jason from part 8 in Friday the 13th:the game? I AM!!!
I think the game comes out later this year?? The "trailers or in-game play" they have had for the game look really cool.

💯💯💯🤦🏾♂️.. Smh...This Song Rough!!!👌🏾💪🏾💪🏾
This movie was ahead of its time, but for all of the wrong reasons: it was the first clickbait in history.
Makes me want to take Manhattan.
Would be cool if they remake this movie and actually have Jason in New York City the whole time.
Yes!
that would be cool lol
mrExcellent101 Yeah, they wanted to do that, but damn budget restraints kept them on the ship for the first two acts.
ExplorerDS6789 That's true. I saw an interview with director Rob Hedden and he said that since he was on a limited budget the amount of scenes actually shot in New York City had to be drastically reduced. The scenes in the alley and on the street were shot in Vancouver, I think only the part where Jason chases the main characters through Times Square was actually shot in NYC.
Thoughts of a Human So he'd be on blast on Facebook and Instagram, so what? Jason would still be hiding in dark alleys and abandoned houses and slaughtering people left and right.
I Love 80's music
That solo from 4:18 to the end is
F%CKING EPIC!! a true 80's Classic! For sure
YES!!!!
Best song in the whole series nothing beats 80s nostalgia
💯💯💯💯💯
So 80's I LOVE IT!
so 80s.. I'm into this!
I feel like this song sounds like an actual transition from 80s sound to early 90s music. Makes me long that era. Even looking at the picture reminds me of that time. Look at how the color palate has that foggy neon vibe and even the buildings are lit but kind of blurry looking (pre HI-DEF). LOVE IT.
I really miss that film quality for sure miss the analog world
Great song to go with this movie!
Ah, such a tune.
What a piece of music. Great stuff!
The whole Metropolis album is a masterpiece without a weak track on it, that Peter Fredette and Stan Meissner never became bigger names is practically criminal, there was a ridiculous level of talent between them.
"She's a wiz with him."
These songs make you feel something that no other music of any other era could ever dream of emulating.
Thanks to everyone sharing this upload of one of the best songs from the Friday the 13th franchise. This songs kicks some major Crystal Lake a** so keep on sharing to friends, family, facebook pages, forums, or whatever. Everyone should have a taste of Metropolis' The Darkest Side of the Night!

This to me is kind of more quiet storm type mood music than metal or rock you could be anywhere in the country back then and feel the same vibe the same neon soul and know others felt *it too.
Legit, you don't know this song's true feel until you've listened to it walking through downtown at 4 AM. It really hits hard
Going to try that tonight.
This is so 80's that the hole in the ozone layer just got that bit bigger!
I saw this in theaters in 1989!!! By this time Jason and 80s monsters had become charitures! Horror wasn't SCARY at ALL but just FUN to watch and BINGE ON! The audience just joked and laughed at the screen! The formula had become exhausted by the end of the decade! We didn't see a revival till 1996 with "SCREAM!" Love 80s SLASHERS!
i was a kid and begged someone, anyone to take me... cause it was playing in the very mall i was in!! 💢💥💥🔞👁🗨

This is the best song ever. I love Jason takes Manhattan.😁
I think the best part was when he knocked over the punks' stereo, and they're like "We're gonna kill this motherfucker" and all he does is lift his mask and they freak out after seeing his face. "Hey man, it's cool!" And they haul ass.

THE 80'S GOD I MISS THOSE DAYS !! BRING IT BACK !!
Pure 80's, a Nostalgic sadness as if saying goodbye to the 80's
This song is so badass! And over the years I’ve been able to appreciate and enjoy Part 8!
I can selectively enjoy certain parts of Part 8, but it's still a horrible entry in the series. I remember being really disappointed coming back from the theater after seeing it. However, it is not the worst. I give that honor to "Jason Goes to Hell."
@@TheIndependentLens yes, definitely Jason goes to hell is the worst one for me too. People really hate on Jason X but I actually enjoy it!

Times I find myself shedding a tear or two when I hear these songs I grew up hearing in movies and the years that followed. The 80's and even the 90's for the most part had a very distinct sound that can never be replicated. Specially the 80's. Every sound was like magic nearly. As some here have said, pure.
God I know what you mean when I hear this song I just cry a little inside I miss the 1970's 1980's and the 1990's because those three decades we're like a slice of heaven
@@christiancapezzuto8299 🤘❤🤘 Especially compared to now. I'm 38, people can call me nostalgic all they want, but in truth...those times were certainly better than what we have now. I'm just happy I got to experience a good 5-6 years of the 80's that I can actually remember.

It was 1989/90 and it just didn't have a media push. Hard to find and didn't see an "official" release until 2000. And its still hard to find, not even on spotify so.
Hell yeah
Cause this song if perfect for and only for friday13th.
If they didn't have the budget to film in New York, they could have just called it Friday the 13th: Part VIII: Voyage of the Damned and be set entirely on that ship.
Then we wouldn't have the Julius scene and Jason in Times Square.
They should've called it Friday The 13th Part VIII: The Voyage Home where the crew of a commercial fishing vessel find themselves in a race against time, searching for humpback whales that can be used to communicate with an alien signal being sent to Jason.
ExplorerDS6789 or better yet if they didn't have the budget to film in New York they could have just filmed in Vancouver like what they did with the early parts of the city scenes

I just love how this movie is with the title, this song, Jason’s look, with NY, and the real reactions of people in the backgrounds once they reach NY. I just love the entire different atmosphere this movie has compared to the rest
Jason takes Manhattan is a guilty pleasure for me. I watched this one the most as a kid.
