More off than on since about 1992 starting with the Kathy Smith & Jane Fonda step workouts. I think I may have done some at a gym before that. I never threw out my Kmart step & am using it today with you at 56!
I began at drop in step classes at the gym from 2005. The first class was overwhelming but I kept going and eventually caught on. I stopped in 2014 because they couldn't find any step instructors. I bought a step and thought I'd try it at home but couldn't remember the routines off by heart so I put the step away for a few years and did yoga. Then I found you and have been enjoying step again ever since. Thank you so much.
I am so grateful for your videos. I am in recovery from drug addiction (just celebrated 9 months clean!) but unfortunately have been unemployed for 1 year which makes purchasing cardio equipment or a gym membership impossible. So, I built myself a platform and found your videos. I find regular cardio exercise improves my anxiety, depression, and insomnia and is an invaluable adjunct to my 12 step program. Thank you!
Awe! Thank you so much for sharing and joining us!! This is so so good for you and I AM SO PROUD of what you are doing! It is not easy and YOU ARE doing it! Keep rocking that strength and being amazing!! There is a full playlist with no equipment workouts on my channel that would be great for you!
I have to laugh at myself!!! I did step in the 80s with no problem. Fast forward to today, I'm dying...lol..............I bought a step and I'm determined to do it again. Age 69 Thank YOU for this basic beginner step. I didn't think I'd have to start at this level..........lol......still cracking up at myself. Oh denial can run deep, cant' it? LOL
I am 55 and Just finished up chemo and radiation for breasts cancer. I also used to do the step in the 80s. And 90s, and I'm just getting back into it. And especially after the treatment i'm very weak so I also appreciate these beginning videos. I love them already!!
You and me both!!! I loved my step classes in the 80s and sometimes did 2 a day. Now 57 and it's a whole different ball game. I also feel my step is higher than hers. But in 3 months I want to be able to do ALL of her step workouts ❤
11.00 I haven’t done step since the 80s and I loved it. I’m 72 and thought I’d die in the first 10 mins but I did it all and feel I pushed myself and I’m nice and sweaty. Just right 👍🏻
I've been doing step off and on since the 1980s. This is a great video for beginning steppers or those getting back into it! It's also great if you love fantastic music and just want a lighter workout. Chris explains everything really clearly and has a bubbly personality that makes the workout a joy to do. Thanks, Chris!
Enjoyed your workout and actually think that I could follow it. Any chance of you doing a back towards the camera for 10 minutes sometime? I have always had trouble with the mirror image thing. Thanks!
❤️ the slower BMP classes, my knee is wrecked from multiple injuries makes the faster classes w/additional risers impossible, please add more of these if possible. Thank you so much for all you do!
OMG!!! This is perfect for me. I used to do step aerobics years ago, but because of back issues I couldn't do step aerobics anymore, but this video is so perfect cause its like a reintroduction for me doing step aerobics all over again. I love this. Thank you!!! I think I can handle this.
This was great! Just what I needed. Last time I did step aerobics was in highschool, I’m 42 now. I will definitely be doing this one again and hopefully after a few times I can attempt one of your more difficult videos. Thanks so much!
Hi Chris, I have been doing your workouts for a couple of months and this morning heard the term 'vampire' for the first time. I didn't want to be one of those! I had never done step before and your videos are easy to follow and fun! I absolutely hate the gym so this has been perfect for me. Your happy vibe is infectious. Thank you 😊
Did this one for the third time with a riser and boy did I get a workout!! The riser, combined with this pace, really works those legs! Balance and core too!
I'm a 68 year old trying to get fit again. Have tried a few beginner step classes, which seemed more complicated, but yours was very well narrated and great fun.
Welcome Jayne!! I am so happy you enjoyed this one!! Keep moving, I will help you stay motivated and feeling accomplished.!! Check out this playlist of step tutorials!!! You will love it!! ua-cam.com/play/PLvftKxea83m740fFLEN7UqA0fXKZDZ59d.html
I did this workout today and I love it! I've been doing step aerobics for a long time and I love how you slow the move down while you're teaching it for absolute beginners. Thank you for a wonderful workout.
I started step in the early 90s but haven't done it for over 10 years. My old VHS tape isn't much good these days, so I'm pleased to have found you! I'm 57 this year and found this video very doable. Will do this routine a few more times, then move on...loved it. Thank you!
This brings me right back to my 20s, so much fun! You are a fantastic instructor, thank you for this! ♥ I don't even have a step yet, but could not resist and did the whole thing anyway! 😂 😂 😂
Great video! Thanks so much! I'm 59 years old and lived through the 80s step craze and NEVER TRIED STEP! Loved it! I will use all your videos! You are amazing!
YAY!! Thank you so so much!!! Great job and Welcome! Let me know if you need help finding workouts!! Here is a link to my Learn step aerobics playlist!!! I think You will love it!! ua-cam.com/video/5myxS3VR8yA/v-deo.html&pp=gAQBiAQB
I am so excited Chris! You are just the best instructor! I decided to try your 30 min. basic step and I am doing it! It feels so good to be sweaty again haha! I hope I will be able to continue step aerobics all the way through my 70's! I have 9 yrs to go! 😊Thank you so much for all the encouragement throughout your video! You make it so easy!
Thanks for a perfect beginners class! I loved it! Im 50 years old and haven’t exercised for several years and just bought my step board. Im so sweaty now and I feel really good about myself. I’m looking forward to discover your other videos!
Just finished this video; working on building up my stamina at age 76. Thank you for this. Simple steps, easy to follow, and best of all a goooood workout!!
Just got muy bench today. Can't believe i made It ...Thank you so much, your enthusiasm Is contagious. Very clear explanations. Never late to start over 😅
Love it! For anyone who wants to try a step workout, Chris makes this so easy and talks you through every part of the workout. Take your time and enjoy the old skool Disco Beats. Yes, try this at least 3 times... eventually, you will get it! 😊
After completing 3-weeks of your tutorials, this video was a success as confirmed by all my sweat! 3-weeks of your voice and leadership made following these cues super simple.
I did this workout today. I added a weighted vest. I liked the simplicity of the routines and the music. I used to listen to disco in high school. Thank you!
Loved this! I work out almost every day, but only getting back into step after years. This is a great basic routine, but girl I'm sweating right now... Never underestimate step😅
Found your channel and found your beginner step very good. Not too difficult. I’m 68 and used to LOVE my step classes back in the day. Made it through the first video without stopping. I’m stoked!!
It’s been many, many years since I’ve done step. I started working out with your channel about 6 months ago and saw all your step videos. I thought, oh, is step coming back? So, for Christmas I bought myself a step and started with this video. This is a great refresher and I look forward to doing many more step workouts with you. Thanks for the excellent cues and instructions!
Did 20 minutes. It is one of the first times doing a workout did not feel like a "I HAVE to do it" but I was actually smiling several times and getting into it here and there!
Just done my first ever step aerobics class to get myself moving. Really enjoyed it as it wasn’t too hard to get to grips with and I was able to pause when I was out of breath. Can’t wait till I’m fitter and it’s more like a dance 🎉
Absolutely LOVED this workout! The music drew me in, and I remember all of the songs. The workout was challenging, since I'm just getting back into step. Did it regularly, starting sometime back in the early 90s. I got through the whole workout on the first try, and I'm feeling like a boss. A sweaty boss though. 😅
It took me years for me to do step. And recently when putted afew tutorials step moves of the moderate or advance. Since then I kno how to do step of the moderate and advance moves Chris. Plus you don’t have to use raises you can do them without. I use them without rises ♥️💪💪💪😍🥰
2024 and discovered your video. I was an advanced stepper but my left knee has pushed me back to slow beginner level to test out the waters. This video is really helping me gauge how far I can move. Thank you and will be repeating several times until I can do the full video. Only did 20 minutes.
I loved it! I use to step years ago and it was my fav class at the gym. I dusted off my stepper and played your video! I was great to get back to it! Thank you!
FIRST TIME WITH RISERS TODAY! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Got behind…but it’s OK. Will continue practicing… Got to confess it’s much easier without them, but I challenged myself and loved it!
Some days I like to do your advanced step classes, but this one was short and sweet (sweat) ha ha - perfect for what I wanted for today. I love the variety that you give us.
I have been wanting to get back into step aerobics but couldn’t find anyone I liked. I was so into step aerobics in the late 80’s so its been a while. I am so glad I found you. You are amazing and I can’t wait to reach intermediate then advance. God bless ✌🏻
YAY! Welcome Jim!! I am so glad you enjoyed this! We have so much fun here. I hope you enjoy more of my workouts! This is one of my favorites! Have a beautiful weekend!
thank you for the 15 minute basic; I am starting out again and feel overwhelmed with 30 minutes but 15 is perfect. I feel successful and motivated to do it again and I will slowly build up to doing more advance; faster pace and longer . Thanks tho for doing slow and for doing a 15 minute option!! love your class!!
YAY! I am so glad you are enjoying this one!! DId you see my playlist of tutorials? A lot of people have had fun learning with them/. They are short 3-8 min videos where you can learn individual moves at a slower pace. Here is the link! ua-cam.com/video/5myxS3VR8yA/v-deo.html
Love these shorter slower paced step classes for when I’m short on time. I added extra risers and made some of the moves higher impact, and got a great workout! Thanks, Chris! 😻
I’m a seasoned stepper but decided to do this one today with two risers (I typically use one). It was a great workout just what I needed today. Like @Stephanie Rilett says that’s the nice thing about step: it’s easy to ramp up a basic workout by adding an extra riser or extra energy, jumps, hops etc. I am a spazz with two left feet lol so tend to stick to the basic routines and add that extra energy when I have it in the tank. Thanks Chris! You make basic step easy to follow and always fun. Love your positive infectious energy. It’s contagious ! Thanks so much 🥰
Yay!!! Thanks for thorough instruction.... it's nice to be able to participate in videos instead of deleting them because they are too "wild " and/or fast paced. 😜😍
This has actually got me working out again! It is fun and explained really well while doing the workout. I like the music too. Thank you for bringing step back and making it fun to workout again!❤
Excellent video. Exactly what I was looking for at 47 and getting back to fitness after injury. I don't want to run any more so I bought a step but many videos just jump straight into it at fast speed and the ones I tried have you jumping round the step which I can't so as I'm doing this in my kitchen with no room. I also love it when instructors are really clear on what you're going to do next and count you in ( I did step back in the day and that's how they used to do it!), the transitions are very clear, how many you do of each is really clear! I didn't feel lost at all along the way. Brilliant!!!
I am 59 years old an I haven’t done step in twenty years. This routine was the perfect introduction to get me moving again! I love the music and I love how Chris calls out the moves in advance which made it easy for me to focus on my feet on the step. Thank you Chris! Fun fun fun!
Thanks for posting this Chris, I’ve never had the coordination to do step before and now that I’m getting older I need something different to get my HR up, just tried this without a step, and yes, I can do this! Going on amazon today to buy a step!!
I used to not do the basic classes, but as I’m going back & doing every step workout, I’m finding that I really enjoy these. I put in some risers & use big arms like a crazy woman & really get my heart rate up. Only 27 more to go!!
First time trying step aerobics. Was tough but your instructions were easy to follow and it was fun! Thank you 😊 felt a bit harsh on my right knee at the end so I’ll probably do shorter step workouts the newt few times. Will try out your other videos ❤️
Oh my gosh! So happy to find your video. I used to be in such good shape but since retiring from landscaping, I’ve become a slug and I’m so heavy and out of shape. I ordered a step and have glared at it for two weeks. Didn’t even open the box. Ha! Your video was so easy and fun to follow. I thought I was going to die but I kept on going. Thanks so much for putting those little rest stops in! This is just perfect for me and I had a blast and I was moving!! See you tomorrow!
How long have you been doing step aerobics?
I loved doing step aerobics in the nineties, starting it again since the lockdown at home 💕

thank you for the 15 minute basic; I am starting out again and feel overwhelmed with 30 minutes but 15 is perfect.

I injured my hamstring.. & I’m slowly doing steps again… thank you Chris.. I hope to do your intermediate step workout again ❤️
OH NO!! I hope you are feeling better!
Love these shorter slower paced step classes for when I’m short on time. I added extra risers and made some of the moves higher impact, and got a great workout! Thanks, Chris! 😻
Perfect! Thanks Stephanie!
Thanks so much 🥰
@@gorillabff1003 Good morning and Thank you so much! I am so happy you are enjoying these classes!! ❤️
I don't think I've ever worked out to Barry White before! Loved it! 🙂
HAHAHAH
Yay!!! Thanks for thorough instruction.... it's nice to be able to participate in videos instead of deleting them because they are too "wild " and/or fast paced. 😜😍
So glad you liked it Ginger! I try to have some step options for everyone ❤️❤️
This has actually got me working out again! It is fun and explained really well while doing the workout. I like the music too. Thank you for bringing step back and making it fun to workout again!❤
YAY! Thank you so so much for working out with me Christina!
Great workout for someone starting out and gaining confidence to learn basic step! Thanks Chris
Absolutely! Thanks so much Courtney!
That was great. Thank you for sharing ❤ x
You are so welcome! Thank you!
Love love this routine. Thank you Chris
You're so welcome!
Going to get some cardio in today....thanks Chris!!!
You are the best!!
Welcome Nicole! I am so happy you enjoyed this video!!!! Let me know if you need help finding others like it!!!! Stick with me, I got ya!
Great workout.... Now I am addicted to your step workouts.... Next time I will try a little faster one... 👍❤️

Loved this one! Thank you!
Just started stepping like your stepping and music old school music I like that😊
I am 59 years old an I haven’t done step in twenty years. This routine was the perfect introduction to get me moving again! I love the music and I love how Chris calls out the moves in advance which made it easy for me to focus on my feet on the step. Thank you Chris! Fun fun fun!
WOOO YAY!!!! Thank you so so much Netsy!!! I am so happy you are back at it!
Thank you 🙏🏼 it’s simple and fun workout 🤩
I love you and your channel! Thanks a lot for the workout and the energy!!! Greetings from Argentina.
Thanks so much Noelia! So glad you liked it!❤️
Thanks for posting this Chris, I’ve never had the coordination to do step before and now that I’m getting older I need something different to get my HR up, just tried this without a step, and yes, I can do this! Going on amazon today to buy a step!!
YES!! Thank you so much Deb! I am so happy you are getting a step! We have so much fun!!
I used to not do the basic classes, but as I’m going back & doing every step workout, I’m finding that I really enjoy these. I put in some risers & use big arms like a crazy woman & really get my heart rate up. Only 27 more to go!!
You're so welcome! GO MARTA! You are gonna have to get an award!!!!
