    I think we will get
    - Trade / merchant republics (the foundations have been laid by Tours and Tournaments and Adventurers in Roads to Power)
    - An expansion based on nomads
    - Some event pack
I also NEED a Crusader and warfare rework but I don’t think it’s coming, maybe 2026

This would be my bet, but I really hope they go with expanding and revamping religion alongside trade and republics instead of nomads. That really is just because I never ever play as a nomad though, but I play with religion a ton, so thats just my preference

    • @marcfrankoro

@@tuxtitan780 Agreed, but they mentioned actively working on nomads in a dev diary which is why I think it comes in 2025.

@@tuxtitan780 I don't play as nomads either but that's because there isn't any to play. The steppe is just tribal with horse archers right now. I would like to see a religion revamp, but I think religion is in a far better spot than the steppe is. Personally, I would rather see Nomads to flesh out that region of the map. They would probably interact with neighboring regions in an interesting way as well.

Since you mentioned alliances, I really wish standard alliances were just Defensive alliances, which you could negotiate further into a full alliance through an interaction or scheme or something.
Defensive alliances being the default would make things difficult in a way that makes gameplay deeper. And having to negotiate a full alliance for them to aid in offensive wars would add another element to warfare and roleplay and strategy that would benefit the game's depth.

07:00 as a veteran I would appreciate stuff like this. Marching formation and logistics, maneuvers such as flanks etc . The staging posts idea you said is good. Maybe Acre. If the units could form a line or if they deliberately dispatched smaller units - this is in response to you mentioning the way the armies move around the map

Related to the desire for knights/commanders to be more interesting: I think it would be cool to have a knight you could assign to manage/lead a unit of men at arms. For instance, having an acclaimed knight that specializes in heavy calvary lead the heavy cavalry.

I think warfare could be improved by scaling how much you rely on levies. Make levies more important when you're a count, tribal and it's early game. Once it's like the 15th century and you're an emperor, your army shouldn't have to be 99% levies anymore. This would also allow them to implement consequences to having levies raised. If you raise every levy you have, and they get 100% stack wiped, that should have an economic impact. That's effectively most able bodied men in your realm being killed all at the same time. That would crush a country.

I play a lot of warfare games, everything from Total War to HoI4 and even hardcore Wargame Design Studio releases. But I like CK3's battle system a lot and it seems perfect for this type of game. What I _would_ like to see is the depiction of these battles in a more interesting manner. An optional battle screen that graphically depicts what the AI is doing to determine the outcome. Skirmishers duking it out, archers firing volleys, knights getting beheaded by other knights, and cavalry pursuing routed units. Nothing the player can affect once it starts, but simply a visual presentation. AoW4 has a system that allows the player to watch an AI battle if they want to, so it's certainly feasible.

I'd love subcommanders. For almost no other reasons than RP. Leading your army and having your heir lead your flank and your best friend/knight to the other flank was the kind of thing i loved to see. It added just the extra layer of strategy to not be overly complex and still relevant. It could be even more if events based on your subcomanders could appear.

As far as warfare reworks go, I think the army stance system from imperator could add some flavor. Perhaps along side a better battle simulation it would take in the stance of each army and how that affects the battlefield.

I think the flavour and core context together is good.
I think I can see a religious rework, which is needed sorely; I could see a diplomacy rework with that DLC. Which would make sense, how religion and diplomacy effect each other.
Merchant republics would be great due to Roads of Powers, Tours and tournaments giving us key ground work for it. I think I can see them working on the horse lords too with DLC trade stuff.
Personally I be happy with either Villains and Vagabonds or the romantic flavour DLC.

One thing I actually think could be fun especially as a british pack is a rework to paganism and witchcraft with a theme of celtic welsh, cornish, irish and scottish witchcraft and a rework to it, possibly also a european witchcraft update with different types of witchcraft ranging from "harvest witches" to outright murder cults, which if you wanted a flavour pack to go wtih it could lead to landless players being able to rp a holy order/inquisitoin hunting down witches for piety especially with the idea of playable theocracies.

In terms of warfare, my biggest hope (albeit an unlikely hope, I don't think they'd go for this change) is the way armies are raised.
I liked the way CK2 raised armies in their own provines, in vassal capitals and whatnot. I feel like that change alone would add a lot to gathering your armies, choosing which to raise and where and how much, weighing that with striking before your enemy can raise theirs, and adding a more organic reason not to overextend (isolated exclaves at the very edge or even disconnected from your empire would take time to get troops there and defend
Rather than just placing a rally point and teleporting there)
Never was a fan of flanks in Ck2. Felt gimmicky. And I like MAA. So that "raising armies in vassal capitals" change would be what I'd change with warfare primarily. I think it would make a very big, beneficial difference. (Along with general AI improvements. But that's a whole lot more complicated I'm assuming)

  • @suppehd

They should absolutely put naval combat into the game in my opinion. Lets just look at the most obvious example of Constantinople: One of the main reasons, that the byzantines were able to defend the city against sieges (in the ck3 timeline Rus', Bulgars, Civil Wars) was naval hegemony (at least in their area) and I think the addition of a naval combat system would fit perfectly into either a military/war rework or even the merchant republics rework. And of course merchant republics also liked to get into rivalrlies against each other and use battleships aside from merchant ships.
But of course war is not the main focus but I still wanted to leave my opinion.

I don’t remember the exact language used but I’m pretty sure we’ll still get flavor packs. The core mechanics pack which is $5 more is simply a different option they can slot into the Season Pass. If CK3 gets DLC for 3 or 4 more years I imagine we’ll get 2 flavor packs and 2 mechanical packs. Maybe only 1 mechanical pack.

So when you unite the churches, either under orthodoxy or catholicism, it would convert one or the other to Christianity(either all orthodox or all catholics, depending who unites it), and since you need all 5 holy sites of one, you can then reform it instantly.

What returns again and again in these kinds of discussions, in some degree on your channel, but heavily emphasized by other content creators, is the idea that PDX should bring CK3 to feature parity with CK2. There seems to be a vocal minority of players/creators who often voice this sentiment (I think that this is a minority, since Steam numbers show that CK3 is way more popular since its release than CK2 was some time before that and later). One of the idea voiced by these people is to bring trade and merchant republics and republic government, and it returns like every time PDX releases a major update, with all disappointed people that this is not their dreamed republic DLC. While I don't care about CK2, and I don't think republics should be a priority for CK3, I think PDX might cave in to these demands.
As opposed to many of these CK2 lovers, I like flavor packs and flavor DLCs in CK3: I played intensively in both struggles, and I enjoyed Byzantine flavor part of the last DLC. Clearly, the east part of the map is underdeveloped, and I'd like to see a flavor pack in India, Tibet, or for Asian nomads, although I fail to see any possible combinations of such a flavor pack with general mechanic, like with Roads to Power. For political reasons, I hope they won't make East Slavic DLC (or Slavic DLC in general), since that would ignite clashes between players in social media amid ongoing conflict in Ukraine (where a lot of both sides ideology is based on their interpretation of medieval history of those territories).
Despite some people claiming otherwise, I think many players come to CK3 to play with mods, particularly with total conversions (as shown again by Steam numbers every time a big mod like AGOT has an update), and I think these people cannot care less what vanilla DLCs we have, unless they bring something interesting to their beloved mods. I'd like to see PDX cater to these people, so new systems and mechanics would be interesting for that reason. Also, event packs are universally despised, I see no reason for making them, they can easily add these features to big DLCs, and do away with event packs altogether. Let's be honest, nobody buys these $5 expansions anyway, unless they come in a bundle, like a season pass.
