The REAL way to play Plastic Love: Single handed 16th note hi-hats

This is a follow-up to my previous Full groove breakdown of Plastic Love by Mariya Takeuchi 竹内まりや. In this video I breakdown the strategy I used to build up my hand speed to be able to play the 16th notes on the hi-hat with my right hand only.

I knew it, recently I saw a cover from this song ,of Miss Ooha). The drummer in that video plays this with one hand and that was my first clue, secondly your video. Anyway, both videos are useful because we can mix both ways to play , or maybe the last part of the song with 2 hands etc ...

Interesting! Like with most straight-16 funk, the main reason for this is having the accent on every eighth note, which can be achieved very naturally using one hand, once you've got your technique good. However, I noticed some of the yt drummers who cover plastic love use two hands but heavily accent their right. I quite like this because it makes the groove sound more electronic in a way (though maybe I'm also afraid to try one hand). Great video!
