- For one year only Gibson decided to resurrect one of Orville's earliest trademarks so they made a SG with an ebony fretboard ad Crescent Moon inlays. This one has an extra story to tell.
Hi Gary, Shame the Gibson Cherry Red SG has been in The "Wars" With Someone Mate! But you have it Very Nicely Set-Up To Play. Making The SG very comfortable and Sounding Very Nice, for anyone else who wishes or wants to play it!
I like the Gibson SG in all of it's Different arrays of colours and appointments.it's a very Popular Guitar 🎸! Thanks for the History lesson, mate! Take Care, Rgds Mick 😊.
Hi Mick and thanks :-) Some of my favourite guitarists have been SG users. Carlos Santana, Zal Cleminson and your local lad, Tony Iommi. Cheers, Gary :-)
Sounds great
Hi Scott and thanks :-) More six string tomfoolery on the way! Cheers, Gary :-)
🤔🤔Looking at that Gary, it definitely looks as if it's been smacked.
But the headstock and neck are fine😂 Weird.
Still a fine piece, and a workhorse.
Cheers Gary.👏👏
Hi David :-) Strange, isn't it? There's no movement in it, it's just how it looks if you get up close. Love that ebony board and the inlays. Cheers, Gary :-)
Hi Gary, I've never seen a Gibson with moon inlays apart from on the interweb, I'm not a big fan of the SG shape so I think they do give it an extra little something. A guitar playing friend back in the 80s had a white SG, I remember it saying "Les Paul" on the truss rod cover. His guitar developed cracks at the neck/body area so he took it a local guitar store to be checked. They tried to persuade him to part ex it for something else and offered a silly low price for it. He hung on to his guitar and it never caused him a problem.
Hi Rod :-) I don't suppose that was the 3 pickup SG shape with the Les Paul Custom engraved tiny scratchplate that went on the body to cover the tenon joint? They had a habit of cracking the paint around the neck/body joint but their structural integrity was never compromised. Nice guitars. Cheers, Gary :-)
Hi Gary, my mate had the standard two pickup model as I remember. I did have it for a day or because he asked to borrow my Tele for a recording job and left me his guitar for me to do my gig that weekend. I loved the sound of it. When he brought my Tele back he asked me if I fancied a straight swap. I almost took him up on it. Looking back maybe I should have.
Hiya mate hope you’re on the mend take care Gary
Hi Graham ad thanks mate :-) Progress is as expected so I'm hoping to be back in the saddle in a couple of weeks or so. In the meantime, we've got some videos to watch that never got put up for one reason or another. Cheers, Gary:-)
When you do the ' BIG REVEAL' , have a trained parrot, who'll call out, ' who's a pretty boy'. 😅😅😅 As always Gary, all the very best to you. Ps those crescent Gibsons look great!
Hahahahaha, hi Hi Alan and thanks :-) I might need to rent him for a bit hahahahaha. It'd be nice to see them drag out some of the historic logos and other design quirks from the Gibson history books. Cheers, Gary :-)
