  • Here is my attempt at reviewing this rare beast. Enjoy!
The music in the background is me jamming out on this very guitar going through a Fender Deluxe Reverb.

Two quick things: 1. There's a spec you didn't mention, not sure if you forgot or aren't aware, but this run of special faded sg came with a true abr-1 mounted bridge. 2. Your nashville bridge is on backwards. Maybe the saddles are switched around so the slots match; Idk just noticed and thought I would point it out. Thanks for documenting this one.

I love how much you put into this review. I own one of these beauties, an 03' actually, and it's really something.

This one has ABR1 studs in the wood and Nashville bridge . Strange - never seen that before . I have three of these EBONY FB SG fadeds . One has ABR1 bridge studs in the wood and crescent moon inlays . The other two have Nashville bridges but with studs in incerts .

I have one. A coworker needed money for his funeral, i mean his wedding. Anyhow, i got it for a great deal. Love the guitar. Im considering putting a Dirty Fingers in the bridge and a Pearly Gates in the neck. I have a bunch of guitars and im not into modifying guitars but tho i love this SG, im ok with changing its pickups.

I believe there was also a les Paul version. I remember choosing between this guitar and the Les Paul. The Les Paul’s came in yellow and black If I remember correctly. I chose the cherry SG. Mine also has the crescent moons and ebony board. It’s been my main guitar ever since I got it. It’s a joy to play. I’ve kinda beat it up a bit lol but it still plays great. I’ve swapped the tulip style machines for grovers because one of them broke. And I put a Seymour Duncan SH-6 in the bridge. It’s been amazing. I love mine

I dont think there was a LP but rather an Explorer - I believe you can still find them at the Gibson legacy website via Google.

@@ksmusiclounge1648do you think the current LP Tributes are worth picking up? I saw a nice tobacco burst for $1299 at my local GC

Im with Phil McKnight on this - the best bang for the buck is the Studio. Used to be the Classic until they bumped the price to 2k. The Tributes are fine guitars and they have maple necks, instead of mahogany, which is an odd speck given this was the case on the Norlin-era Customs (think Adam Jones). Anyway, if you like the thin easy wearing satin finish then yeah the Tribute is the way to go.

Always sucks when a musical instrument gets stolen. What a dick move to steal an instrument…

I'm late to the party, but I have one of these that I bought new. It has an ABR-1 bridge with a wire instead of a Nashville, mounted directly into the wood. It must be a really early one.

Mine is a 2002 model all stock including an ABR-1 bridge, except for a graphtec nut that the previous owner had installed. The guitar is in good condition but clearly it has been played. Great sounding guitars without the thick layers of paint that I am unable to associate with tone😊 Greetings from Sweden
