    Very good exercise with the different electrodes while using the Vulcan Outlaw. Thank you

      It was fun. But if you noticed, I scribed lines with a tungsten scribe, but I had a hard time seeing them. After I made the video, I recalled a tip that a subscriber told me about... Use a grinder with a zip disc to make the lines! Much easier to see. Try it.

      Dude ... You are going to love it. Not only is it a great welder, but when hurricane Helene knocked out my power for a few days, I sure was glad I had it! It kept my refrigerator going, a light or two, and a fan

    Thanks for the video, unfortunately I had no choice 5 years ago at harbor freight and had to get the 9000 generator and a non hft welder because they didn't have the titanium 225 back then but I must say that for a non inverter the 420cc can run a rod good, I only got 160amps all position welding rod 6010/7018 and I could only use 7018 "carefully" 5/32 past 160 flat to 210amps but had to hold tight arc or the generator would bog and almost shutoff from too long of a arc with 7018.

      Sounds like good results. Whatever it takes to get the job done, right?

    Just orders mine couple days ago, there’s a 4 week wait for anyone wondering. There wasn’t any in store available in the southwest tx area.

      I guess 4 weeks isn't too bad. Some of their tool boxes take that long. I know it's hard to wait. Come back and leave a comment when you get it, and what you think of it.

    Does the 195 have hot start and arc force or is it just a plain stick welder?

    • @AllStarWeldingSC
      @AllStarWeldingSC  2 місяці тому

      Thanks for the question. It only has Arc Force, not Hot Start. But I always keep Arc Force on 0 and don't use it.

    I run A LOT of 7014. Its like your opinion on flux core, get good a running it cause its a handy tool to have. I run both along with 7018 doing maintenance work for a couple of guys with large dump trailers.

    • @AllStarWeldingSC
      @AllStarWeldingSC  2 місяці тому

      I used to run a lot of 7014, but it's been a while. It lays down a lot of bead. It's a good repair rod. Maybe it was that I hadn't run it in a while, or maybe because the rods were 2 years old. Was my 100amps ok? I should retry it over the weekend and get better at it. If I remember right, isn't it pretty much a drag rod? What I did on that test looked horrible. Do you have tips?

      @@AllStarWeldingSC well the weld looked good and the amps were fine, its like anything else in that finding a good brand makes a huge difference. I like Lincoln fleet weld brand. They're not the cheapest but they have a good visible puddle with the right rod angle and my local weld supply is good about matching prices with other companies. It is pretty much a drag rod but it can be ran vertical with some practice but thats where the 7018 comes in😉. Its also a lower penetration, higher tensile rod good for thin and wore out metal. Thanks for the videos sir👍

    I’d like to see how it does with hard surfacing rods and 8018.

    • @AllStarWeldingSC
      @AllStarWeldingSC  2 місяці тому

      8018 is not a problem. I've used 1/8" easily. 5/32" can be done if you stay at the lower end of the range, like around 160amps. The 1/8 will run basically at 100% duty cycle, the 5/32 at 160amps should be around 40%. I haven't done hard facing rods in years, so I had to look it up. 1/8 would be do-able, 5/32 may be a stretch, that's high amps, probably at max for the Outlaw. But with careful attention to the duty cycle, and enough cool down period, it can probably be done. But a bigger machine would be more suited for that.

      @@AllStarWeldingSC no worries I started metalwork at the age of 15 with an artist and a local shop who taught me blacksmithing , welding and fabrication, I worked with him for several years and he has been a big part of my family still to this day , I have several forges and metal working tools that I have accumulated over the years. Yet I continued to work nine to fives to make ends meet as most, I have been envious of people that can do it for a living on their own and I recently accumulated the additional tools and equipment to be able to do so myself, starting as a self employed handyman welding for property, managers, etc., along with doing general maintenance painting drywall so on… you were instrumental in my decision to go with the Vulcan 195 as a cost-effective Yet super effective unit. I constantly share your videos with friends, coworkers and family members and look forward to your videos as they come through. You do a great job explaining techniques, equipment, etc. and you can tell that you truly wanna share your knowledge with others. with your experience and knowledge you are truly helping to keep the craft alive and teach others how to get started.
      I know you put a lot of work, time and energy to run your business and then still produce videos sharing your knowledge with others keep up the good work.

      @@WeldwithRoss I have the PrimeWeld Cut50DP. In the shop, I use a big compressor that I built. For mobile, I use a HF compressor. I can't remember the name right now, but it's just a 5 gallon, it it's 5.1cfm@90 which is plenty for a plasma running at 40psi. I'm thinking of getting the big brother to that same one. It's the same pump, but on a 29gal tank.

    Harbor freight is not as cheap as every body thinks because they sell for 10. they sell only two pound box which makes them more expensive than much better brand rods that come with at least 5 pound packages. nice curve ball...
