First Drive of my Fully Rebuilt VX SS Holden Commodore

- After 2 years of ownership and 12 full months of mechanical restoration work in the Grouse Garage, everything was on the line with this first test drive. When ex-PoPo hit the road in this video, it had a full nut and bolt rebuilt engine and transmission, big cam and lots of supporting mods, with completely reconditioned brakes, all new suspension, new exhaust front to back, new tailshaft, etc. Anything and everything could have gone wrong. How did it turn out? All is revealed in this video!

Nice build, I think a vcm otr would be a good idea before dyno tuning. My motor is similar but my cams a bit smaller so I've only got 2200 stall. Your car should be around low 12s
Possibly a somewhat dumb question. Is an OTR and also a MAF legal for registration? I'm building this car to be fast and legal and once it's registered ... 🤷♂

I like the 3inch catback you did, my car is 2.5, which is all they need. But 3 inch gives the nice deep note. I'm interested to see your dyno numbers, but I've been on 3 different dynos and had 250rwkw, 276 and 290! I think I must be 280rwkw but who knows.
@@GrouseGarage they will pick on the cam and you may have to change it back to stock I think unless you get a modification permit, again I think.
Sounds great. You really shouldn’t be driving around with those markings though. Very bad day for you if you get caught.

B&M BM70441 Holeshot 2400RPM Stall Converter. With that cam it feels spot on for performance and also daily driving.

I bud good job on car I noticed that your intake pipe is just round tube I have seen them on eBay do you reckon they are worth it or a OTR is better? Because Iam doing up a vu SS fitty ute which had just come Back from paint Shop Iam think of getting the otr or just getting a tube like the One you have

Most guys will say an OTR is better, but they are costly and you will need a tune for that. If you want bang for buck, the intake tube helps increase and smooth out your airflow and you can retain your MAF sensor if you want, or you can delete it. The other thing I have noticed with the intake tube is increased induction noise. The tube is hard plastic and the intake sound echoes around inside it. The stock intake tube is soft-ish rubber and definitely quieter.
Tested back to back, an OTR is the better option easily. You can get a MAF adapter, but you'd be better off with a good mafless tune.
What exhaust did u put on her sounds nice
It's got an SS Inductions intake tube up front, 1 7/8" Proflow headers, twin 3" Black Ops catback system (mild steel, not stainless) with the rear muffler fitted. It sounds spot on to me.

Great car. How you go with the obvious police markings? And attention from police? I guess if no lights or sirens all good?
This was just a one off. The decals are removable and I have them for private display only.

@@Shoreliners.1090 There is no hooning here. Nothing illegal about accelerating swiftly up to the speed limit and backing off to maintain that speed 👼
