  • In Episode 110 of ‘Cars, Shops & Collections’ we visit Mike Cimino the owner of Collectors Dream Cars in Boulder City, NV to see his 1970 Ford Torino GT Convertible. Mike has an extensive collection of muscle cars but this episode is extra special as Mike opens his garage to show us one of the crown jewels of his private collection!
There were only 3,939 Ford Torino GT Convertibles made in 1970…. Watch the episode to see what makes this Grabber Blue TORINO with a 351 Cleveland only 1 of 37
The 1970 Ford Torino was an instant hit winning Motor Trend's Car of the Year in 1970 as well as being featured as one of NASCAR’s Pace Cars. The 1970 was the first year of the GEN 2 of the TORINO… The style was much different than GEN 1. Less boxy, longer, wider and more aerodynamic. The ad’s for the car in 1970 claimed they were ‘shaped by the wind.’
Mike gives us a full breakdown of his Torino as well as a ride along!
👍 THANK YOU for watching ‘Cars, Shops & Collections!’ Each week we put the spotlight on unique cars and the people behind them!

Nice car ! Please center the steering wheel though. The bar should be horizontal not vertical. Our neigbor had a 69 Torino Wagon & later a 72 Torino 4dr.

My 70 Torino GT was Calypso coral. Had the headlight covers.
It had the 302 and Hauled Ass👍🏻
Had a bench seat in front… and you wore that seatbelt or on left turns you’d slid over to the passenger side😆😆😆 we called it bench seat Surfing.

I owned a 1970 gt 351c 4 speed 3:91 gears grabber blue shaker hood and mine had factory tachometer right in the dash left of the column. From factory the Cleveland 4 BBL had 11 to one compression with 4 BBL. I lost it in my divorce but I sure miss that car

I am truly sorry for your loss. I’d like to offer my most heartfelt condolences, and wish you some form of recovery in your post Torino life. I shall mourn for you, one week, no burnouts. Well, I’ll try my best my friend. You know that’s a tall order. I am a human at times.

The movie was a Gran Torino. Gran Torinos are 1972 and later. And are a blight on the name. Big stupid bumpers, over weight, style went downhill.

For 70-71, the 429 was reserved for the Cobra/Super Cobra jet models. Some folks have the 460 engine in their cars, that was NOT a factory option.

429 was available in all Torinos, but the 429 Thunder Jet was the base model engine for a 70 Cobra, 302 2V was base engine for GT, and 250 I-6 was base engine for other Torinos, Fairlane, and 70 1/2 Falcons

@@dioncarey9077 ok, that I wasn't aware of... Do you know if the Brougham, 500, and Fairlane editions were offered with the 351 engine in 70-71? This has been a mystery for me and a couple of other guys for a few years now.

    I have several Torino’s including a 70 convertible. There were 3,939 convertibles for 1970.

Always great to see Torino-footage :D As a fellow '70 Torino-owner (mine is a Brougham 4-door hardtop with hideaway headlights and the same 351C-2V engine) I really appreciate you making a video on it and kudos for pointing out the Torino/Gran Torino difference. If you want to make a Torino-owner mad you call a pre '72 Torino a Gran Torino :P
