2020, still listening! Missing live music! Thought there was good chance I was here on the night but I'm sure I'd have been in the middle of the dancefloor!
Watching thisbrought a smileto my face. I saw the newest line up of Old Blind dogs in Ullapool recently and they were good, I danced all the way through, but I miss the old line up, great sound and really nice guys. Thanks.
The core of the Dog's Sound, Funky drum offbeats that still preserve an earthy sound from the use of hand drums, a solid Bass, and a new swing to an old song.
I wish! No, I'm from New York. The closets I've gotten to Scotland is three trips, and a friend who lives in Fife. Ian's voice makes my heart melt and my knees weak. I discovered him on a Celtic compilation cd from Putumayo (world music label), I think. He sang "Banks o' Fordie/Babylon" and I was gobsmacked. It's still my favorite Ian song. I have been lucky enough to see the new line-up, and to attend a house concert with Jim Malcolm.
Song title : "The Barnyards O' Delgaty" - the original tune has been altered by Ian. Ian F. Benzie - guitar and vocals Jonny Hardie - fiddle Davy Cattanach - percussion Buzzby McMillan - bass
Yes, that's Ian singing, but the band playing music in the video is Old Blind Dogs. Whether he's with them or not anymore makes no difference. At this time, he was.
He was the best. Love the new lineup, and as long as Jonny Hardie is playing I'm in....but this configuration of OBD is by far the best. What a great band
This was the very best line up of Old Blind Dogs without a doubt.
Loved this band. Perfect chemistry, great swing, monstrous basslines and great distinctive vocals. This line up was one of the great folk fusions.
The best lineup of OBD! I am so glad to have seen this lineup a few times!

I'm not Scottish, but I absolutely adore Scottish music. This song is one of my favorites!
Love this

Och those great days of the Dogs in Aberdeen! Sounds great and brings back lots of student day memories...

👍🤩
this vocalist got real charisma! love it
Great tune 👍👍👍
Well if you know him, tell him he is sorely missed! It would be wonderful if he recorded another cd!
I can't believe how young Jonny is in this! what year would this have been?
I would guess around 1992, give or take a year
Ian was fantastic!----great phrasing , like Archie Fisher---but better!

any more live footage.
what happened to Ian Benzie?? does he still sing?
He was the best. Love the new lineup, and as long as Jonny Hardie is playing I'm in....but this configuration of OBD is by far the best. What a great band
This is a great beat. What fun. What's the name of the song?
I do believe that man is my Grandad's brother
he lives in Scotland in strathdon
aye its Ian Benzie, he's a relative :) so im clued in
Ian F Benzie sounds just like Jim Malcolm. (Or the other way around.)
Ehy guys someone can tell me the name of this song?? thanks, it's great!!
What's the source of this video? It's obviously professionally-done, did they record a concert film at some point?
I think it was Jools Holland Hootnanny around 1991/1992. I remember watching it at the time. That's what got me into this band
if i ever see him, i will tell him :)
I live near him
A cracking song and a brilliant band. And what can I say about that dancing? Not much!
Except I do believe you should tag this "IAN BENZIE", as that's him singing. He's no longer with the group.
