Went to a independent dealer to buy a model Y. Negotiated for hours to get to an Out the Door price to 27k so i could qualify for the used EV tax credit. They got the paperwork ready and i was about to sign but realized they added 4k to the price trying to basically colled the EV tax for themselves. Dealer told me the OTD price was with the EV credit. So i ended up walking away and they got mad saying i wasted their time when in reality they were trying to screw me over.

I'm with you. I bought a new 2020 Toyota Tundra and paid 46k. In 2022 Toyota did a complete remake and now the same truck that is less reliable with a smaller turbo charged engine is 73k. This much of an increase in two years is insane.
That White Shelby Truck is more than what I paid for my 3 bedroom 2 bathroom 1,550 square feet condo in a nice & safe downtown area of a beautiful Chicago suburb 😂
In Arizona, I am currently seeing 10k off of MSRP for a Sierra 1500 Elevation, 4wd, crew cab, but this is still not enough. OTD is still 56-58k. For this same vehicle 4 years ago, it was low 40s. The car market still has a long way to go down before they are affordable again.

I could never understand why "tax time" results in increased auto sales. The average tax refund is not all that great so why would these refunds make any difference. Could it be that Canadians are getting much higher refunds than here in the U.S. At 9 minutes in the video a Ford Shelby stickers at $193,000 so even a tax refund of say $20,000 accounts for only 10% of the sticker price. This baffles my mind.

I love my old 96 Ford truck. It does everything needed, it's cheap, and paid for... People buy new trucks because they feel the need to have new SHINY TOYS, which is just a lack of maturity...
I'm not sure if buyers are broke, but I'm sure no one wants to pay $70k+ for a truck. $70k+ is a luxury money for a car/truck before pandemic hit. I remember looking at a used Lexus LC500 few years back and thinking that is a nice car that I probably cant afford, which was about $75k. I would like to know what is the true manufacturing cost of these trucks and how much is company greed.
In 2014 gas hit 4 bucks and I got a Ram 1500 Sport 4x4 fully loaded for 39k!!! I am driving it until it falls apart. I guess I’ll move back to a small truck because I will never spend 80k or more for a 1/2 ton truck.
The problem is that the auto stock market seems to be doing very well, thanks for people still buying when they misbehave. People need to stop supporting bad behavior by voting with their dollars and spending ridiculous and unreasonable greedy markups.

I realize the crowd here isn't a Tesla fan, but the *only* pickup I would consider is the Cybertruck. Once production is up at full rate, a mere 60k per quarter or 20k per month, it will have an impact. If nothing else, it is an excellent substitute for an SUV with the ability to haul stuff. What is it, 80% of full size pickups are for suburbanites that don't *need* a work truck? There just isn't anything else that is a large car for the middle class.
