Morgan and Morgan we have firms all through the US cause we rip everyone off to open more offices. Morgan and Morgan we have kids we have we to get out of trouble every week. John Morgan, I'm worth $800,000,000, have a private jet and a 18,000sqft home from ripping off my clients.
One word….GREED!!! The dealership will try to get as much as we the consumer will allow them to go…don’t buy and pay the amount they are asking…a year of no sale will speak louder than words!
I drive a '94 Ford F250, full load, 7.3 turbo diesel. I paid $4500 for it about 5 years ago. It has about 150,000 miles on it. Other than some minor things, it's been a pretty good truck. I look at the prices of these new trucks and I have no idea how people can afford to own them. I certainly can't afford it, and really have no desire to buy one. I like my old truck.
I sold my 2007 F-350 6.0 turbo diesel with over 500,000 miles on it. Got $12,000 for it. Maybe should have kept it because I see prices are not coming down. I’ll have to get by with my F-150 for now. I refuse to be ripped off so badly by these dealers.
It's the greedy dealers, all their BS markups, $699 for Mopar protection, $299 for wheel locks, $2,500 for Millennium package $799 for spray-on paint protection. And $1,200 for Doc fees. I hate all dealers!
Granger Motors, Inc (Ford, Jeep, Dodge dealer) in Iowa is EXCEPTIONAL...PHENOMENAL. Granger is ALL about the customer. I purchased a 2022 Ford F350 Lariat 7.3L - UP - BAP - Tremor Package with Warn 12,000 LB winch at 2% BELOW invoice......when most all other dealers were selling these trucks at MSRP or an additional $5,000 to $10,000 above MSRP. The truck is awesome!!! I live in a remote scenic area...Rocky Mountain state and it was well worth the plane fare and 865 mile drive home. Granger operates with bottom line pricing, no add-ons or markups and great service!
There is a large percentage of owners that replace their vehicles after 4 years or less. I believe alot of these buyers are thinking about keeping their vehicles longer due to the insane prices.
@@Sorensenator86 I’m the same, I have a 2019 F150. I’d like to get a newer model (mostly for the wireless instead of wired Apple car play), but I can’t justify it given the prices, plugging my phone in occasionally is a first world issue.
Agree.... I am one of them! Want a F250 Power stroke but I'm keeping my 2019 tundra with 63K. It will last for 20 more years! I paid 48K for my limited in November of 2018.
I’m 27 have had 27 vehicles 6 brand new 2500 diesels/ show trucks. I worked in the oil field now in vehicles sales management. But currently own an early 2022 2500 Big Horn Cummins who is heavily considering keeping my truck to just see what I can get out of it with its CNA UNLIMITED TIME AND MILEAGE LIMITED BUMBER TO BUMBER WARRANTY. Should I? Or should I jump on the Ram REV I’m a confused sales manager.
i have a very cherry 09 ram Laramie i paid 5k for with now 413k on my last oil change. highway driven. runs like new. replaced front struts and got new front fenders because of the rust. best 6k total i ever spent.
I'm glad I bought mine when I did. These prices are crazy! I bought my '21 Big Horn in November '21 for 34k. It did have higher mileage on it at 21k, but I don't put a lot of miles on a vehicle so I figured it would balance out over time😄
Great video Ben. Myself and two friends leased 2019 Ram 1500’s. Two Big Horns and mine was a Limited. All of us are buying out our leases due to the high prices. That’s a reason you’ll see trucks sitting on the lots. Great trucks but no big changes that would make you even think about spending all that money. The regular guy can’t afford these trucks.
Bought my 2019 Ram 1500 classic tradesman with the 5.7 and a 8speed with LSD and I couldnt be happier. At the end of a generation is the best all the kinks worked out. Screw paying 70k for a new truck with shit you dont know if it will last.
Price, price, & price of trucks plus gas prices. The crazy MSRP scares away most buyers. From what I’ve seen through the years, Ram and other FCA/Stellantis products get the biggest market adjustment off MSRP if you do your homework and find the right dealership.
The top of the line ram well optioned is still much cheaper than ford or Chevy. It also has a much much nicer interior than the other brands and absolutely more features. Too many to list. The one aspect I can agree with this video is that the engine is a bit lacking, but it’s honestly not by much.
You are spot on about pricing. I have a few Rams, from 1500s to 3500. My last 2016 3500 big horn , I paid $59.000 dollars 3k below msrp .sold it 5 yrs later for 55k. I had to replace it in 22, First I couldn’t find one for months and when I found it, it was a tradesman base truck Cummins HO. I paid $74.000. Msrp the dealer wanted $9k over. After hours of negotiation. I paid msrp. $74k I have seen others in the upper $90s Thank your videos, great job
You are 100% spot on. Price, design, power all need to be changed. The design is really boring to look at. HD needs at least 8 speed transmission. However, the most crucial problem Ram has is leadership. It's been awful for several years.
I got a 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 LTZ with just about every option. Spray in bed liner, technology package, heads up display, rear view camera mirror, heated and cooled seats, adaptive cruise control, etc it was listed for $65k and I walked out the door $57k with an additional warranty. Today that same vehicle basically but a 2023 is MSRP'd at $71,000 with an $8,000 market adjustment. Not to mention my interest rate then is half of what it would be now. SO that's a difference of my truck that I got in December of 2020 for $57k at 4% interest rate vs now $78,000 at 8 or 9% interest rate. It is freaking insane
I got a 21 GMC AT4 in August of 21. Sticker was about the same as yours but I don't have all the bells and whistles, just the 6.2 and standard AT4 stuff and we paid about the same. At that time, where I live, there was no negotiation because they couldn't keep trucks on the lot. I now have just under 12k miles on it
@@slagdemon He can't afford the truck because he couldn't pay cash for it. $57,000 + interest is foolish to pay for a 1/2 ton truck. They are not made for serious work. If you don't make money with a truck you don't need it.
It’s the price jump more than anything. When I bought my 2020 Ram 1500 Classic Tradesman I got it for $32k. Now it goes for $41k with the exact same options. No way I could afford to get it now.
You're right, it's the price jump. Here in Canada presently, you can have a 25% rebate on the MSRP of a new 2022 Ram. At the end of 2022, I bought a used (10,000 km) 2021 Ram Classic Quadcab 4X4 3.6l with many options (electric driver seat, heated seats & streering wheel, towing package etc...) and accessories (hood & windows deflectors, tunnel cover, bed sprayed, rustproof etc...) for 40,500$ (CAN) and the previous ownwer paid 51,000$ (new) including a 9,800$ rebate at the time. I would have never paid the MSRP price of just over 60,000$ (CAN) for the Ram I bought used. 😁
I've got to say, I love my Ram! Unlike many 5th gen Ram owners, I haven't had very many problems with mine. I had 1 recall, a factory brake problem at 5K miles. But my biggest complaint about my 2019 Ram Big Horn is the cheap paint. It's sad to see such a fine vehicle suffer from crappy paint. I live in KS, after less than a year the front of my truck looked like it had been driven through several sand storms. After 5 years of ownership, It's much worse now. Also, the paint just began peeling away on my back bumper for no reason. No hits or scratches? When I inquired about WHY, I was told by my dealership that Ram has change to a newer paint chemistry. (Huh?) This is my 2nd Ram Big Horn, I am at 72K miles. The first one (2017 Big Horn/4th Generation-NO problems) was TOTALED in an accident about 5 years ago with 17K miles. While at a dead stop on the freeway in traffic, I was rear ended by another vehicle at 65MPH. I sustained a concussion & a broken left shoulder, but thanks to the & design quality of the build, I did walk away from the accident. Like others, I belong to a Ram website. The major complaints that come in are mostly "electronic gremlin" complaints. (Engine malfunctions & electronics/entertainment system problems.) Too bad Ram has let the quality of their vehicles slip. I would probably would buy another one, but I just don't trust their warranties, or their dealerships any longer. Sad to say, after over 5 years of happy ownership, I'll be looking for another brand.
I got a 2022 Big Horn Crew Cab quite a few options for 20% off sticker a couple months ago. There are deals to be had if you shop around. It’s a fantastic truck for the right price
It’s makes more sense for them to lower the price and seep more units than it is to jack the price up sell less units and lock up your flow of production ! This makes me happy because the more we don’t buy new trucks they will have to lower their prices !
I have owned my 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie for 4 years now, and it has 34,000 miles on it. I literally searched from coast to coast for it, and I found it in Alexandria, VA. The dealership had it in their showroom for 6 months when I bought it. The list price was $57,200, and a similarly equipped 2023 model is $67,125. The dealership let me have my Ram for $45,000 plus tax, tag and title. I hated to pay that much for a fully equipped crew cab 4 X 4, but it was $6000 cheaper than I could buy a comparable Chevy, Ford or Toyota. About every two weeks, I get an offer from the selling dealership for $35,000 trade-in credit on one of their new 2023 models. This sounds good, but I would have to pony up another $32,000 to buy a 2023 model. I have no inducement to trade. My 2019 Ram is the best truck I have ever owned. It drives like a Mercedes, and it gets the best mileage I ever experienced for a big V-8 4 X 4 truck . I drove this truck roundtrip on a 4000 mile trip from Virginia to Arizona averaging 72 miles per hour and got 22.0 miles to the gallon. I had only one problem with the truck in 4 years of ownership. I had to have the overhead console replaced, and the dealership did this at no cost to me.
Bought my Ram Big horn crew cab 4x4 in July of 19. MSRP was $52,000. After negotiation and pitting two dealers against each other I got it for $41,000 out the door.(sale prices was like $38,000ish) Traded a paid off equinox and cut them a check for $26,000. Bought. Bumper to bumper 8 year warranty a week later for $1300. I’m keeping this thing for a while and it’s had no problems I also get the texts and calls begging to trade it in for $32,000 Plus all the new models have e torque which was stupid
@@kyleamerica5522my 19 has hemi w etorque and runs fine, i turn the stop start off but the etorque helps the transmission shift. Its legitimately a great truck and set up. I drove from Northern CA to Southern CA and the coast i averaged 22-23 mpg. I have exhaust and a drop in intake plus oil catch can.
Yep, a few years ago, my dealership offered me $45K for my $43K 2019 truck with 20K on it. They couldn't jeep trucks on the lot. Glad I kept my 2019 Ram Big Horn.
GMC is selling a lot of trucks, but buyer beware that they’re one of the most unreliable vehicles you can buy. I learned the hard way. I live in Texas and a bunch of coworkers are having issues with theirs.
I had a 2015 RAM 2500 Limited Mega Cab with the 6.4 Hemi. I really liked it at first...nicest interior on the market IMO. Unfortunately the truck did not hold up well. I had it for 6 years and put 136k miles on it but it was plagued with problems and very expensive repairs.
I agree. I have a 2014 RAM Limited and I really love the fit and finish, but the air suspension fails me in the winter, not the summer (and I like that it can raise or lower), and it just cost me almost $4,000 to get brakes all around, rotors ( only on the front), and a tune up (16 spark plugs for the Hemi). I love the ride, but the truck is 9 years old and I think it is time to upgrade. I just cannot justify $70k+ for a new vehicle. Heck I found a great 2019 3500 RAM Limited, but it still is about $45k, with over 100k mileage. Prices are just crazy.
@@toddcarroll2277 With my 2015 RAM I spent about $10k in out of warranty repairs in years 3 thru 6. These included the solenoid valve, heater core, fuel pump and a variety of brake and suspension problems. Not to mention interior stuff that broke. at 136k miles the "check engine" light came on. The dealer told me that the transmission had to be rebuilt and the torque converter replaced...cost: $4600. I got rid of the truck. If you're staying with a half ton truck you might want to consider a Chevrolet/GMC. They've come a long way over the last 3 years and their pricing is much better...at least here in NW Illinois.
@@METALITHrevetments I pull a 7x16 enclosed trailer. The Limited with the air suspension has been good for that. My real desire is a 3/4 or 1 ton Ford crew cab with the 8’ box. Hard to go from the top of the line to near bottom, so I would like a fully loaded Lariat or a King Ranch. I had a ‘99 F250 crew cab 8’ box with the 7.3 powerstroke. Should have never sold it. I don’t need the diesel, but wouldn’t mind the new 7.3 gas engine. If I got the GMC or Chevy, it would be the past generation, because I like that look better. My main desire is the 8’ bed and crew cab. I hate that trucks became toys. People that need them for their business or to haul have been priced out of the market.
@@toddcarroll2277 I have a feeling that within the next 5 or 6 months we are going to see dealer lots full of unsold trucks of every brand and trim level. Here in Galena, IL (across the MS River from Dubuque, IA we have 3 dealerships : Ford, Buick/GMC and CDJR that have seen building inventories over the last 8 weeks. Business is slowing...as a result of the high prices of these truck and the rising interest rates. There will be deals I think, this Summer.
@@METALITHrevetments I agree, the truck I mentioned above has been on the dealer lot for over a month. 6 months ago, that would have sold in a week, even as a HEMI.
Ram truck is a long hual investment. Ford or Chevy are a short term investment. That is the way it was but all trucks are extremely high at this time. Wait for Cybertruck from TESLA and then look at all.
I own a ram, and I do have an issue with the price being as high as it is, but not being able to hold its value more than likely because of the MSRP being so high in the first place. Luckily I beat this market back in early 2021 just barely.
You and me both. I got a 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 LTZ with just about every option. I didn't watch the whole video but I'll tell you why Ram trucks aren't selling. We wanted the 3.6 Ram 2wd with the technology package that list for about $41,000 . Most dealer were advertising it for $35,000 . Our local dealer said come on down we'll match that price . Went there on our appointment and when they were done they somehow got that vehicle that list for around 41 to $51,000 with market adjustment and all the other fee's .We made it very clear not to waist our time . We bought a Honda Ridgeline and will never consider a ram product.
You made some good points. There are many people who only keep their vehicles for a few years and then trade them in for the new model. So why would anyone want to do that with the Ram truck right now? It is basically the same thing! Last year I bought a new Ram, but my previous Ram was a 2012. Because of that, I never even considered getting a Classic because it is basically the same thing. It’s time for a change.
Ram shot themselves in the foot. Especially in the heavy-duty market, they are selling a 2010 truck with 2023 prices, yes the interior is different but the old cab, no telescoping steering wheels, pulling options while cranking prices. Also along with the interest rates now you're looking at a 1000-1500 dollar payment and most people can't float the payment for a 6 speed truck with significantly worse specs than Ford.
In 2021 I was torn between a Tundra or a nicely equipped Ram 1500 Big Horn. For me, I couldn’t get past the rear window leaking issues on the Ram that they refused to address. Reliability and quality was a huge factor in my decision. I went with the Tundra and couldn’t be happier
My cousin's last two pick up trucks were Rams, both of them had so many issues the engines ended up breaking down, so the quality and reliability are still a problem with these beautiful pick ups.
@Craigslist you can't get a V8 in the Tundra anymore. I wanted a new Tundra but with the lack of motor choices, I bought the ram. I actually love my Ram more than I thought I would
25% market adjustment, my a33 … and they want to finance it at 9% APR for 7 years . “For these amount of money I can F myself, Thank You very much, greedy a holes” , that’s what I’m straight telling them when they try to sell me their overpriced junk
I was considering a ram. But the price hikes killed it for me. I ended up getting a new Tundra, it was roughly the same price I would have gotten the ram for, but had some more features. And honestly, between a Toyota and ram at the same price I went with Toyota because it’s a Toyota
And in 15 years that tundra will be worth 20k and that ram will be on craiglist for $1200 with slipping trans and needing 16 spark plugs and coils to maybe stop its tick.
I agree with you but I’ll do you one better. I’ve been shopping in my area of NC for about a month now, and the biggest culprit in my region are the dealers and the dealer installed options and excessive prices for them. 98% of the new 1500’s coming on the lots and the remaining 22’s all have these dealer options installed and they refuse to NOT put them on. I even inquired about some in transit and they still refuse to not put these option’s, modifications and lift kits on trucks coming on the lot here. This is pushing the pricing up substantially once they hit the floor. It’s mind blowing to me how greedy the dealerships are getting. You can go to most any Ram dealers in and around my surrounding area and they are full of trucks with these options. I spent 5 years in the car business and this is something we never did.
absolutely the pricing! I was looking to trade in my Diesel for gas cause I don't want to keep paying the high prices, but I don't see the logic in paying more for a 1500 than I paid for my 2500 when the inside is more or less the same as when I bought my truck back in 2017. Ram is going to be in some deep doo doo if they don't straighten up, if I find a cheaper truck I may end up getting that instead of a Ram.
Full disclosure I’m on my 4th GM truck. With that said I really wanted a ram this time. For me it was all about infotainment. Ram was first to put in that huge display. I was very jealous. But GM has caught up with the 2023 refresh. Not only is it better looking…..it’s available in every trim level except the custom! Ram wants to bait you into a high trim level for something that is no longer unique to just Ram. The GMC Sierra elevation gave me just what I needed and they still give you the same infotainment center the Denali gets. Ram needs to just make the damn big screen standard across the line and for Christ’s sake LED headlights are not a luxury item anymore.
Yeah, I love the ram trucks, good- looking and luxurious. I really wanted to get one but the price scared me off. Also, some lagging mechanical issues with the 5.7 hemi made me a a little worried. I didn’t wanna spend that much and have my truck in the shop all the time. 😳 Thanks Ben I appreciate your analysis.
My Biggest gripe with all 3 is the prices are going sky high yet quality is barely acceptable... hell half of em if you look under the body they are rusting before they leave the lot
I got my 2017 Ram 1500 SLT Quad Cab with the 3.6L V6 end of May. It had 98k when I got it and it's now at 104k. It was $22.5k so I still feel like it was slightly above value but good for today's market. It's my first ever Ram and I love it.
It's simple really, it's because these manufacturers are pricing out the everyday American, making it nearly impossible to find a real deal, and making it so your average person cannot justify buying or leasing a new truck. The price jumps, dealerships charging over MSRP, and manufacturers halting production in order to keep supply low, thus keeping demand high is all making buying or leasing a new truck a commodity only for the "rich". These manufacturers are literally to blame for this.
I bought my 2022 2500 Laramie almost one year ago exactly for 61,600 MSRP/Sticker was 62,600. I had to drive 500 miles to get it but saved a good 7K vs my home dealer who was marking them up a few K and offered less on trade. It had been built like Dec. 2021. I continued to "build" that truck at the Ram website until they shut down the 2022 ordering on the website. The last time I built it, sometime in Nov, the price was up pushing 71K... So, my truck went up over 7/8K during that time. When I bought, I got 7K equity on my 2021 1500 traded in over what I owed and one K for trading at the dealership off MSRP. The 1500 wasn't cutting it for towing... Well, all in all last March, I thought I got an OK deal with no mark up and a couple K more on the trade in vs home AND, that was just when gas went up AND interest rates were...getting ready...to go up. I knew I was in a window for purchase. I KNEW interest rates were going up and was able to get a 3.24% loan so, I made out like a bandit there as they went up over a percentage point by April/May 2022. Right now in a 2023 2500, a roughly equivalent Laramie to mine is window stickered between 72K and 73K... So, in retrospect, I got a killer deal if you are comparing now with then, one year ago almost exactly... today is March 7, 2023. This is getting outrageous.
They really aren’t built all that well either. CUVs seem to last a lot longer. I see 10 year old CRVs that look brand new. All 10 year old pickups are rusted up junk. They are full of rattles, get poor mpg, dangerous turning circle, poor handling, can’t park, and have low cargo capacity for their size.
Oh yeah let's not forget the manufacturers are pushing 6 and 4 cylinders in a full size truck. I'm simply not paying 50 grand + for a 4 banger let alone a 6 banger!
Years of vehicle redesigns are a big factor as well. When Ram introduced the new model, people flocked to it. now that it has a few years under it's belt, the sales figures are probably more accurate.
All trucks are way too expensive. We considered one, but decided to just keep our old one alive. Even crate motors look reasonable now, given the greedy new truck prices.
I guess some people need updates and fufu features and various other bs. I'm a truck dude. Air conditioning would be appreciated. I need a box that holds a lot of tools and gear. Properly rust proofed at the factory. I need a 4x4 with hd axles, a manual trans, manual hubs, gaa/diesel. Options to me are extended or quad cab and 6 or 8 foot bed? Single or dual axle? Paint it thick white or Grey. Price it at half of what you're currently trying to fleece people. Have the confidence that you put out a good product tand behind it with a 100k mile or more warranty. So everything and opposite of what you're not doing now is what a truck dude needs in a truck.
"Market adjustment" is bad word! A trick of theirs to rip you off more they used last year... this year they need the rebates just to get people to look at them. As far as I'm concerned these dealerships can close their doors. They don't care when they rip you off I don't care if they aren't selling. It's called karma!
Hi Ben. This is my first comment. Love watching your videos. Love my Limited. It's a bit pricey, but damn, it's better than the others right now. Agree with you that it could use a bigger refresh, but it's still the best truck out there right now. It's a very luxurious truck. Can't believe that ride quality in a truck is this good.
I think by adding the turbo 6 cylinder will make it worse for Ram. Anyone that understands towing knows that the bigger displacement engine is more reliable than turbos on a smaller displacement engine.
I agree. Have the Hurricane turbo 6 as an option but keep the Hemi and keep improving it also. Toyota dropping the 5.7L V8 completely for the twin turbo was a mistake on their end.
@@doncarty786 The mileage is comparable. It’s the emissions which is a completely artificial construct. If not for EPA intervention, no one would be buying small displacement turbo engines in full size trucks.
Pretty sure the Ford 3.5 Ecoboost is proving that wrong. Turbos are the future of gas engines. They increase volumetric efficiency and therefore overall efficiency. 20 years ago you would have been spot on but the technology has far surpassed that old way of thinking.
I was looking at a Dodge a few months ago, everything checked out except the turn dial gear shifter. I believe Trucks should either have the console or at least the column gear shifter. A turn dial for a car or mini van OK, However a truck, sorry could not do it, will stick to the 302 A Ford package.
I'd be interested in a 1500 now that they have better Consumer Reports reviews but the price is prohibitive and I'll keep rolling in my 2006 Tundra with 347,000 miles on it.
Ram has always been the "Value Choice". but since they started competing with the All in options for interiors, they are actually more expensive option, and the 5.7 Hemi is now lagging behind in the towing end of things.
After waiting for 2023 F450 Limited for over 9 months, I went to Ram dealer and picked up 2023 Ram 3500 HO 6.7 with night edition. I traded in my 2020 F350 DRW 6.7 Lariat for the Ram. Ram drives so much better and smooth. I am glad that I made this change. Pricing is in par with Ford and Chevy. Economy and interest rate is what is lowering the sales total.
Big issue with Ram is also the way they group the packaging. Spending thousands just to get a few things that are important to you is a hard sell when other manufacturers allow you to add them individually.
Yup. Pricing is a huge factor. Also, the known issues with the transmissions that people keep blowing out at 2-3000 miles that RAM either can’t or just won’t fix.
People who buy typically finance. Period. No matter the brand. No news there unless you want to drive around in a jalopy or save your Pennys for decades to get one.
In Ontario Canada, I am looking at a Longhorn with a bunch of options included and it prices out at 96,000. Currently, there's a 10% manufacturer reduction and the dealer is knocking 5,500 off which brings it to around 80,000 CAD. A comparable Ford or Chevy is significantly more expensive. They aren't offering the same discounts. If I look at a Ford King Ranch, or Chevy AT4 it's way more money.
I think also affecting trucks of all 3 is that they are all much bigger, heavier and fuel guzzling than those of the past. For many, fixing their trucks, not having payments for a few years, are still good working trucks is a lot cheaper than going into debt for a new one. I also suspect fleets, government agencies are not buying or changing leases on light trucks as often due to also issues with higher costs.
I disagree with that Leon. I get 20 mpg highway with the 6.2 in my GMC truck on average and have gotten up to 24 mpg on longer flat trips. The addition of the 10 speed transmission really helps economy. I looked it up and a 2014 Sierra 5.3 was rated for 16city/23 highway and the 2021 sierra 5.3 is 16/21. Not much difference, better technology and safety. Curb weight is less for the 2021 vs the 2014 also.
Been looking at all trucks lately thinking we want the last one we will ever buy. Holy cow all the bells and whistles that can and will go wrong on the new ones! Not to mention the ridiculous prices. Currently have a 2014 V8 Silverado with 70k miles getting 22 mpg and a 1999 Ford F250 7.3L PowerStroke Diesel with over 450K miles and still running strong with no rebuilds. Ford SD gets 19-20 mpg consistently. Decided to repaint, reupholster, headline, new lights, mount a tablet off the dash for infotainment. Fix the tranny and rebuild the motor if ever needed and keep our money in our safe and pray the diesel doesn't get stolen.
So much to like in the Ram1500. I'm looking to buy now, but can't get past the lack of modern driver aids at this price level. I don't need lane centering, but at almost $90,000 out the door, I want it. Not sure what I'll buy.
The lack of driving aids a reason why I like it, I like to mod my trucks to suit my needs so having less tech and sensors to deal with is a plus, but to each their own 👍
@V R Great point! I'd be terrified to mess with the F-150 with any engine but the 5.0. The Ram 5.7 seems solid and should have plenty of room for tuning. Best wishes with your build!🙂👍
Does anyone know when the recall will be finished, are the 2022.. 2500 cummins part of it? Not seeing the availability on bighorn cummins that I'd like to see..
Problem with the 5.7 Hemi is one...valve lifter problems & two...broken exhaust manifold bolts. I would NOT buy one & will steer clear of Dodge until they can fix these inherent engine problems!
I love the RAM brand, actually considering a TRX. What they need to do is keep prices the same for 2-3years as Ford and GM will be increasing prices so the field will be even. A refresh is needed with an engine update, nothing crazy 10% more power and just 1-2extra mpg will grab people.
Make all the excuses you want for why they aren't selling it boils down to price. They are all tremendously overpriced and beyond the reach of buyers. No everyday vehicle should require 5 years to pay it off, much less 6, 7, 8 years or more to pay off. It is absolutely criminal.
I agree they are too expensive but man this is just basic free market capitalism. They can price that truck however they want and the market will dictate the price over time
@Carbb I question if it's truly Free Market Capitalism as we have so much market manipulation and such. I dint think we have had free markets since before WW1 as President Woodrow Wilson intervened and the interventions and manipulations have continued unabated.
When I turned 20 years old I went and got a used 2019 ram 1500 for 36k with 28k miles I thought it was a great deal only had it for 2 months got rear ended and it was totaled been thinking about getting a new one but prices are outrageous 😩 got a new 23 Camry xse instead love it but I lowkey miss riding in a truck 😮💨😂
I paid about 63,000 for a 2019 RAM Laramie 4x4 5.7 (New) with an after market snow tire option bed rails, bed liner, and lift kit, but I really like my truck and have had it ever since! Yes, the price is high, but Ford is known for rust because of the cheap coatings. My truck only has a little over 40,000 miles on it now and I take care of it! One thing that I think Dodge should do, is add stainless steel header shorty's on their trucks and a 6.4 Liter high performance oil pump! This would keep the engine wear to a minimum without breaking exhaust bolts on the manifolds!
Morgan & Morgan will only take cases where liability is clear. Also. They will take 40% of your settlement yet they claim insurance companies are evil?
The worst Law Firm to deal with, I live where most of them live, I can remember when they had former President Obama, as a guest @ John Morgans home residents, in Lake Mary Florida, very political family, would be my last choice of law firms if needed.

Definitely the pricing. I’m active duty with great credit and no real debt and I couldn’t justify swinging the price for a truck. I’d love a new Ram Rebel but I’m gonna end up buying used and saving myself $20,000.
I have a 2016 1500 outdoorsman with 237,000 miles on it. Not one issue other than a new water pump at around 160,000 miles. I pull a 8,500 lb camper with it spring through summer and have put over 35,000 miles on it pulling the camper. By far the best truck I’ve owned and I’ve owned all of the big three.
Focusing on the need to "refresh" packages is silly. Durability, Functionality, working power, frame strength is what matters for a truck buyer. "Bells and whistles" are not the real issue. Massive price increases, phony mark-ups at dealerships that the customer has to find and then line by line demand be removed are the real reasons people who actually buy a truck to work it, rather than those who just want a "toy" are not buying. I had a 1993 Ram 1500 and put 371,000 miles on before I sold it in 2009. I still see it running around today. I have not seen or heard of anyone with a new Ram getting that much work-life out of a Ram made past 2006. Now they are even worse quality but more than double the price. Same goes for Ford and the GM family. Durability and work performance is way down and the prices have skyrocketed. Dealerships are ridiculously dishonest now and the manufacturers, knowing about it, do nothing. I will try a Toyota this time.
Strange how the Canadian market differs. Up here GM is the most expensive and Ford and RAM are kinda tied price wise. The RAM dealer in my town has a ton of stock to the point they needed an overflow lot BUT I see the trucks in the overflow disappearing. Also, there's nothing wrong with the 4th gen. Just got OUT of a 5th gen Laramie and went back to a new 4th gen almost fully loaded (only missing leather and sunroof) Warlock 4X4. More truck like, has all the features I want and NONE of the tech features I don't want. Picked it up for the USD equivalent of about $42,000. The Laramie rode really nice, but almost TOO refined for me. As far as engines, I personally prefer familiar and tested powertrains.
I ordered my truck over 6 2 1/2 and no word yet. I did notice that my $73,500 price tag dropped to $71,000 and they are giving... so far up to $3000 in incentives.
The interest rates are like 7-8%, a cummins diesel truck is like 88K that you might get a 3K rebate on a 2023 if you can find one. They are extremely expensive.
RAM and the others have just one way to justify such high prices.... crash safety. IF they were to produce the safest truck in a crash... then the price would be justified. IMO they need to go with safety and reliability and make a vehicle that is back in the mid-30s. As for the EV... take what they have that works and find ALL the things customers don't like and fix them. If the dealers keep gouging start doing direct to consumer sales. and make the trucks easy to service by owners. Interest rates are going up, not down so offering better rates also will help. I am a first time RAM truck owner and like my truck, but I did not like the price and the dealerships are not a positive.
I'm still driving my 2004 Ram 1500 QuadCab. Regular maintenance and very rarely needed, comparatively inexpensive investments in stuff like a new radiator or rack keeps her running like new. Significantly cheaper buying a new one and then waiting for the first of the recalls. A super additional plus is the Millennial Anti-Theft Device aka 5-speed, manual transmission! I paid less than $20,000 for it new and am going to keep it forever. 😁
I have a 2020 Ram 2500 Laramie Night Edition, that I bought new - For me to come up 3 model years would cost me around $16,000 more than I paid for mine, with no significant spec improvements - Crazy!!
Bought a new Laramie 2500 4x4 Cummins in 2021 for 67,300. Wanted a new one this year and a Tradesman is now 69,000. Same truck I had is now 82000 Went and got a hi Country 2500 Duramax for 75k. Tires balance and no b.s ceramic coating and etc . Won't go back
The biggest issue is that manufacturers raised prices too much too fast... there was never a shortage of anything it was profit taking at the expense of the consumer after 2 years of lax sales
With parent company Stellantis wanting to shift to a subscriptions based package for options and software, I know I would hold off on any of their products until we see how that plays out. I don't want to support a company that is going to do that.
I bought my 2015 Ram 1500 Quad Cab Tradesman brand new for 28,500 sale price plus the typical overhead. Got out the door for 30K. 5.7 Hemi with the 65RFE transmission. Good luck finding a brand new truck with a regular cab these days for that price let alone a 4 door. The only difference I can see comparing my tradesman to an SLT is the body colored bumper cover which I installed, a chrome grille insert from the more upscale truck, and 20 inch wheels (Installed 3.92 gears for the wheels). What I see for pricing at the dealers is insane so I shall keep my paid off truck.
They have a larger problem company wide with rams Jeeps dodges and Chrysler’s with recalls. A friend has two rams 2500s both have had 52+ recalls and switches breaking all the time. Not to mention having to constantly having to replace hub caps.
Good HONEST commentary…. Also didn’t they take SOME items off vehicles that USED TO BE STANDARD and just put them on the upper price point trucks ? Such as the ram box !

It also has to do with not being able to get what you want due to parts shortage

I agree, the biggest issue is the price increases on these trucks. It's beyond ridiculous.
Well the consumer will determine if the prices are ridiculous or not. I’m not buying!

The interior is beautiful. Doesn't need to change every 2 or 3 damn years.
There is a large percentage of owners that replace their vehicles after 4 years or less. I believe alot of these buyers are thinking about keeping their vehicles longer due to the insane prices.
Bingo. I have a 2018 F150 and I am in no position to buy a new one. It just doesn't make any sense.
@@Sorensenator86 I’m the same, I have a 2019 F150. I’d like to get a newer model (mostly for the wireless instead of wired Apple car play), but I can’t justify it given the prices, plugging my phone in occasionally is a first world issue.

I think interest rates and Rams high pricing is a big factor

Great video Ben. Myself and two friends leased 2019 Ram 1500’s. Two Big Horns and mine was a Limited. All of us are buying out our leases due to the high prices.
All trucks are overpriced by like 25K. A ram limited should be about 45K.
The reason they aren’t selling is because of a FED induced recession.
Not just that they are raising prices to show evs comparison to raise the price so ev can fetch a higher price
40k is the top price I will pay for new ram
The Power Wagon, Rebel, Limited Night Edition are not boring to look at. The more base models are, but that applies to all the brands.
I got a 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 LTZ with just about every option. Shit I bought a 2018 power wagon lvl 1 for 46k otd, with heated seats and steering wheel. Now that won't even buy you a tradesman 1500

(Huh?)
This is my 2nd Ram Big Horn, I am at 72K miles.

Luckiest man in the West!
I had the same thing. Got a 2020 Ram 1500Limited with almost every option on it. 2.2 interest rate and 54k out the door. Right before we hit the huge interest and price hikes... now I was a 2500 and I cant justify the price, they want almost 100k. I just cant do it
@@jonsatvoutdoorchannel6686
Well when a base truck costs over $50,000 for a 1500 and a loaded one is $100,000 no wonder us working class can’t afford them
Ram shot themselves in the foot.
What kind of price difference between the Ram and the Tundra?
@peacefrog0521 Don't worry about the difference. Get a v8 Tundra and you will not regret it.
@@craigslist7437 must be looking at a ‘21 or older. Toy hasn’t put a v8 in a truck since then.
@Craigslist you can't get a V8 in the Tundra anymore. I wanted a new Tundra but with the lack of motor choices, I bought the ram. I actually love my Ram more than I thought I would
The “price adjustments” dealers put on their vehicles is a huge factor also.
Those are now gone except for Toyota and Honda.
@@user-tb7rn1il3q Wrong they have them at my local chevy dealer still
These greedy dealers totally deserve it all the hate
25% market adjustment, my a33 … and they want to finance it at 9% APR for 7 years . “For these amount of money I can F myself, Thank You very much, greedy a holes” , that’s what I’m straight telling them when they try to sell me their overpriced junk
Any RAM dealer with addendums on their trucks is ignorant to the facts of the market! WOW!
I was considering a ram. But the price hikes killed it for me. I ended up getting a new Tundra, it was roughly the same price I would have gotten the ram for, but had some more features. And honestly, between a Toyota and ram at the same price I went with Toyota because it’s a Toyota
You'll make up the difference in trips to the gas station. A Tundra can pass everything on the road...except a gas station!
I’d still rather have the Toyota
Couldn't give me a TOY yoda..
@@TheFalcondan95705 oh shiii- got em //sarcasm
Try Ourisman Ram in Alexandria, VA. They saved me $12,000 off the list price.
It was worth the 900 miles roundtrip to make the purchase.
@@ronwinkles2601 thanks, I’ll check them out
absolutely the pricing!
100%. I have a 2017 2500 Limited Cummins and I couldn’t afford to replace it with not even a 1500
Full disclosure I’m on my 4th GM truck.
In all sincerity, you shouldn't use God's name to make a point. Christ is one of the name's of GOD.
Yeah, I love the ram trucks, good- looking and luxurious. I really wanted to get one but the price scared me off. Also, some lagging mechanical issues with the 5.7 hemi made me a a little worried. I didn’t wanna spend that much and have my truck in the shop all the time. 😳
Thanks Ben I appreciate your analysis.
My Biggest gripe with all 3 is the prices are going sky high yet quality is barely acceptable... hell half of em if you look under the body they are rusting before they leave the lot
Ford is aluminum body, no rust
Pickups have become nothing more than a rolling mortgage for the middle class. Add on gas prices and insurance and it’s not worth owning one.
Its because RAM used to be the cheaper truck . A truck for the average customer. But they got greedy.
It's a beautiful Truck though, I really love the styling.
Can't fit it in my garage though so
All trucks are way too expensive.
We considered one, but decided to just keep our old one alive.
Even crate motors look reasonable now, given the greedy new truck prices.
Here in Qc, the RamClassic represents 60% of all Ram trucks sold. No wonder why Stellantis keeps offering them.
4&6 cylinder trucks are easier to meet the new emissions and mileage standards.
Agree. I ordered a 23 with Hemi Etorque because I believe it will prove out to be better than the six.
I was looking at a Dodge a few months ago, everything checked out except the turn dial gear shifter. I believe Trucks should either have the console or at least the column gear shifter. A turn dial for a car or mini van OK, However a truck, sorry could not do it, will stick to the 302 A Ford package.
Ford is starting to do that too. My boss bought a Maverick with that “feature “.
I'd be interested in a 1500 now that they have better Consumer Reports reviews but the price is prohibitive and I'll keep rolling in my 2006 Tundra with 347,000 miles on it.
You are so right brother I have owned a dodge for 40 years and now I have a Chevy because I can’t see paying so much money for a truck
Ram has always been the "Value Choice". but since they started competing with the All in options for interiors, they are actually more expensive option, and the 5.7 Hemi is now lagging behind in the towing end of things.
What about the 6.4 hemi
If you're towing, it's the cummins.
And get rid of that digital display. Ram had the most beautiful gauges!!
70000 for a new truck. As a tradesman I'll go buy a used van for 25k and ride it till it dies. Then just replace the engine and repeat.
Big issue with Ram is also the way they group the packaging. Spending thousands just to get a few things that are important to you is a hard sell when other manufacturers allow you to add them individually.
Ford does the same IMO
No problem for me. I’m keeping my 263k 2002 Ram 1500. Still going strong.
Yup. Pricing is a huge factor. Also, the known issues with the transmissions that people keep blowing out at 2-3000 miles that RAM either can’t or just won’t fix.
i owned ram since 1998 (8 new trucks)the other day i bought a gmc because of price
People who buy these get 84 month loans @ $900 a month. 😂
The average loan on a new car in 2023 is $750 for 72 months. $900 for 72 months on a loaded Ram is actually market correct💯✔️
@@24james 60 months is the max. Anything over 60 months = you shouldn't be buying it.
@@Baebon6259 yup
People who buy typically finance. Period. No matter the brand. No news there unless you want to drive around in a jalopy or save your Pennys for decades to get one.
84 months at 300$ a month you have to put money 💰 down I'll pay it off early 🛻🛻
Too expensive to put to work
I disagree with that Leon.
Would like a 1500 but getting up in price, i might as well settle for a 2500
The lack of driving aids a reason why I like it, I like to mod my trucks to suit my needs so having less tech and sensors to deal with is a plus, but to each their own 👍
@V R Great point! I'd be terrified to mess with the F-150 with any engine but the 5.0. The Ram 5.7 seems solid and should have plenty of room for tuning. Best wishes with your build!🙂👍

@B ohhh big boy. Proud of you
Problem with the 5.7 Hemi is one...valve lifter problems & two...broken exhaust manifold bolts.
I can't agree with that unless it's considerable for the gen 6. Untill then what you're asking for is kind of laughable.
5.7 ram is the biggest reason to buy. Mine has 185k miles
Your integrity is appreciated.
Price. Plain and simple
To much money
I think you mean ~ too
I paid about 63,000 for a 2019 RAM Laramie 4x4 5.7 (New) with an after market snow tire option bed rails, bed liner, and lift kit, but I really like my truck and have had it ever since!

Maybe it's because people are seeing all the reliability, quality and durability issues they are having.
The economy is getting bad and will get worse. All large ticket items will slow down, and consumers will not be able to consume.
My 1st new truck was 77 chevy bonanza 4x4 short bed. 400v8. Paid $6,000 new in Tulsa OK. Fast forward my 2018 4x4 was $42k
easy because it is a dodge!
It’s not a Dodge. It’s a Ram
Yep it's still a Dodge truck rebadged to Ram to boost sales. Plus it has the worst depreciation under Ford and GM trucks. Just the facts..............
I ordered my truck over 6 2
1/2 and no word yet.
You are right on the $$$-“literally!” The main reason that Ram is not selling trucks, IS the “PRICE,”
They have a larger problem company wide with rams Jeeps dodges and Chrysler’s with recalls. A friend has two rams 2500s both have had 52+ recalls and switches breaking all the time. Not to mention having to constantly having to replace hub caps.
No matter who the manufacturer is, stop paying these prices, maybe then they’ll drop them.
Good HONEST commentary…. Also didn’t they take SOME items off vehicles that USED TO BE STANDARD and just put them on the upper price point trucks ? Such as the ram box !
This was recently !
