      I think the smile (I can't tell when she smiles cuz the shield) is to cover her emotions and not show she's bothered. People smile for many reasons, not just happiness but aggression, fear, discomfort, probably insanity or plotting a revenge which both would deem fitting for that thing

The difference is animals go based of only instinct. They have no morals because they don't know right from wrong. Now this human monster made a choice. She choose to do what she did.     Hearing his dad say he forgave her almost made me cry. I couldn't imagine what he has gone through and will continue to experience.     Sounds like dad has sheltered himself from the trial and so have those around him so he hasn't heard the details...can't figure out any other reason for his statement, no one knowing the facts would think she should be out on the street again one day, no one. It also makes me wonder if his son had the same level of doormatty, rose glasses, naiveite and so sugar coated any warning signs she gave that he was in danger making him vulnerable, she saw it and used that I think.

    Shad’s father has a screw loose in wanting his son’s killer to be free someday. Misguided compassion seems to be a major problem in America. This reminds me of the woman who took in her mother’s killer and gave him a job only to be murdered by him, also.

      @@cheri6174It should also be mentioned that even when one is on death row and guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, they usually spend over 20-30 years on death row before being executed due to the endless appeals
      It’s also a lot more expensive to house people on death row

    It is not up to the victim's dad to forgive her. The person she killed is not alive to say he forgives her. So justice must be served appropriately.

      The father absolutely has the right to forgive her.
      Carrying around that hate will only destroy him from the inside out.
      That being said, his forgiveness shouldn't dictate her sentencing, because ultimately we will never know if Shad forgave her.
      ( which I Imagine would be impossible )
      Even if Shad forgave her, it still doesn't mean she isn't a danger to others if she were to be released.
      She has been reveling in the pain of others that she created, so the father not giving her what she wants is probably going to drive her nuts, and be healthy for him.
      I couldn't do it though, I'd be jumping over the barricades and attacking her

    My sister was murdered and my jaw dropped when I heard the fathers victim impact statement…. I cant f”ing believe he forgave her and wished her a second chance after the brutal murder of his child. No. She doesnt deserve it. My sisters murderer will be released in 8 years and has already filed an appeal! I wish he never saw the light of day again. No way.

    Mad respect for how he handled this, I don't think many of us would have been able to do that so calmly. He's so right, I've been 10 months sober from Meth and guess what? It's because I put in the effort and used as many resources in the community. I'll be making sure that I use my story to help others get off the same path, but people like this... aren't human. There's no rehabilitation for someone like this, and my heart goes out to the family... I could NOT imagine finding my Son like that. Keep strong brother, your story has inspired others. I'm so sorry for your loss.

    For those judging Shad’s father…go eff yourself. Dude is coping in his own way just like everyone else. Grief isnt always logical and doesn’t always make sense. Right now this is obviously how he has to deal in order to continue moving forward. Maybe he is desperate to understand such an unexplainable act and looking at it as a mistake for him makes it easier to cope.

    Father forgiving her is ultimately the most healthy thing for him. Holding hate and anger is poison and detrimental to health, so forgiveness is ultimately more of a win for him than her because otherwise she'd be living in his head rent free making him angry 24/7
