In 2002, Eric would finally (and IMO deservedly) taste gameshow victory when he won an episode of The Weakest Link, having been the strongest player overall and the best player in 4 out of 7 elimination rounds, so he clearly wasn't a "bad" quizzer - he was just very unfortunate coming up against Daphne Fowler twice...
Daphne has won hundreds of competitions going back to the 70s, she has won houses , cars and holidays for herself and her kids, she retired from quizzing in 2014.
My Gramp used to go to a weekly sports quiz that a team containing Daphne Fowler also used to go to. He's like an encyclopedia of sports knowledge, but let's just say his team always used to finish second.
