Is there anyone else who thinks 2:25 is absolutely epic? There's a lot of people who say the drop is their favorite part but honestly I love the rest of the ride just as much because of all the detail. I mean come on, in this room THE CEILING IS LITERALLY THE SKY. YOU CAN BARELY EVEN TELL WHERE THE CEILING IS ITS JUST THE SKY
I love the fresh water smell and the cool breeze of this ride, I wish I could put my bed in there especially during hot summer time.

It's a totally unintentional smell. Disney decided they couldn't add chlorine, because that would bleach ships/animals/etc. in the water. So, the natural smell that you love is actually 630,000 gallons of pure borine. :)

Pirates kinda smells like salt water, and maybe haunted mansion has a certain smell I'm not aware of. But if know Disney has things that emit smells to get people in restaurants and make the rides feel more realistic.
One of my absolute favorite rides at Disney World! This is the best video out there of this ride.

I've ridden this ride many times and watched this video several times, too. Just noticed for the first time that at 1:08, the rocks straight ahead and to the left of the boat in front form a skull. As the boat passes, you can see it's made up of different rock formations that align perfectly into a skull.
Videos never do these rides justice, this ride was utterly fantastic in person.
This just doesn't get old. loved it at 10 and still now at 53 just as much.

Its can't be. Florida can't really good underground. The only reason that can drop its 15 feet is because Disney is built up and this drops to the ground level.
I don't like big drops, I like this one though because its small, it makes it friendlier to more people who might want to ride the ride
Also there are no seatbelts in this ride so its lowkey unsafe-
Like someone else mentioned. The water table in Florida isn't far below grade. So, if you dig deep at all, you'll hit water. But, Magic Kingdom is on top of all those utilidoors. When you're in the Magic Kingdom you're on the second floor of the park.. So, the drop is to take you down into the show building which is at ground-level.
This was one of my favorite rides when I went to Walt Disney World for my first time last week!!! :)

walt disney world's pirates of the Caribbean was a spur of the moment idea. the guests demanded it be brought from Disneyland. I believe Christmas 1975 wdw's pirates opened. this is why it might not be on par with Disneyland's pirates of the Caribbean. ( rushing )

I'm betting there's no such thing as rushing in putting one of these things together. This version trims the fat and is pure action. Still a Disney crowning achievement! (Did they change some of the animatronics to be PC, though? Seems like it.)

It all looked so real when I was there.
I remember writing this ride for the first time and being so happy, but yeah I was like in the middle so I didn’t really get wet but then the second time I got soaked and it sucked but I mean I love parts of the Caribbean so I love the ride 1 million times

The reason I like Haunted Mansion and Pirates: They are both very Halloweenish rides and Halloween is my favorite thing in the world.

While I always ride WDW Pirates when I am there, Disneyland in Anaheim has the superior version of the two. Disneyland's is longer with more scenes, it has the restaurant inside and the great bayou beginning and the two drops. I have been to Paris Disneyland and ridden theirs as well. I remember liking it better than WDW's as well.

Last time I rode this was in 1995 and wow did it look different :)
the disneyland version of this ride is quite different: the beginning is you floating through what appears to be a swamp because there are houses in the middle of the water and then you there is a dip (or drop) and then you go through the beginning of this ride and after passing through the smoke screen of davy jones you are in the middle of a pirate battle and everything looks the same until the end when there is a different scene before you go up the lift and pass the last captain jack sparrow (also he appears more than once in the disneyland version) and then you go around a parrot before you get out of the boat
In answer to the original question I wish Disney had scuttled the Disneyland POC copy and let WDW have the way cooler ride by replacing it with the amazing, modern technological marvel that is Battle for Sunken Treasure. Disneyland does have more of that genuine old fashioned Walt feel but he wanted a more modern, updated atmosphere for WDW. It's easier to visit LA if I want the old version than to make a trip to Shanghai. Added bonus no controversy over the Redhead change.
Disneyland's version is better by a long shot. Although the queue theming for this version was cool.

Disneyland is simply a much better park than WDW. It's literally Walt Disney home. WDW is a "let's give the people on the other side of the country a little Disney magic too" but it's not original. The majority of WDW is a replica of Disneyland.
I Walked out of Pirates of the Caribbean and Captain Hook pinched me on the bottom as I walked away, my brother and sister saw him do it , then stated I'll see you later. Then he apologized big time. President-Queen Admiral of the World,LJF. Have a great Easter Disney.

Disneyland's version is much longer and better.
Nah. This version cuts right to the action, no long riding through random scenes that don't seem to have much to do with pirate life. The Johnny Depp part at the end is also more lavish.
But Disney World's Haunted Manison is much longer and better
jadensvideos Have you been to them both? personally I enjoy the Disneyland version more. I love walking through the changing portrait hallway and the busts whose eyes follow you, I love the new Hatbox Ghost, and I think I prefer the original hitchhiking ghost illusion.
Haunted Amusement! Those are all cool, and the fact that Hatbox Ghost is added back is awesome, but in the Disney World one there are way more scenes. There is The Stairwell, The Library, The Music Room, The Upside Down Staircase Room, and that room with all the eyes staring at you.
jadensvideos Yeah I know, I like those, but I think I like the others more. Just a personal preference. I don't really think one is better than the other. Pirates, however, is far better in Disneyland.
the drop on this ride scared the shit out of me because it was pitch black so you aren’t expecting a drop and i’m pretty sure the pirate at 3:42 and the one who’s behind the barrel at 4:40 were real people haha

How petty people can be. Yes, Disneyland has the longer Pirates ride. And Magic Kingdom has the longer Haunted Mansion ride. But you know what! They are both great rides at both parks and I have enjoyed them both at both parks.
I don't get why people argue over this, I didn't really analyze the ride but it seems this just doesn't randomly start in a New Orleans bayou has a more focused que (DL) or lack the drops at the start of the ride and like what 40 seconds shorter? (DW) What a dumb thing to argue about unless im missing something lol.

This ride is pretty good, but I don’t think any Disney park will beat the original, Disneyland
hmmm. the lighting in this one is a lot better, but California's version is longer. although to be fair, a lot of that extra length is more "dead areas" whereas this cuts more to the action with less time spent in areas without much going on.
also I might be wrong but it seems like Jack appears more in this one.

The use of low light cameras is a breath of fresh air. Finally gone are the days when they would use poor night vision from cameras

See, everyone talks about this one being worse. Honestly, I don't get it. We have a more detailed, and in my opinion, better queue area, and get straight to the Pirates. Yeah, we cut out the bayou, 95% of the cave, and the ending powder room scene, but all in all, it's the same ride. Same areas, same pirates, same design, we just get straight to business.
Zach M. And that's why Florida's version is a piece of shit. Very rushed and terrible scene placement. No wonder Disney land makes more money, even tho its a smaller park. they don't rush things & "get straight to the point" they take their time, and put effort into the details and pace of the rides you ride.

I've been to Disney world 6 times and the 6th time I went was back in March. It was the last ride of the night with my mom so we went on. And everything was alright till we got to that part were there chasing each other in a circle and we got stuck. We were their about 30 minutes and we saw them chasing them over and over and we heard the cannon boom every minute. It was really funny
I actually prefer this version to Disneyland because at Disneyland you spend ages going through the caves and you don't have to go past a restraunt in this version. The blue bayou at Disneyland makes no sense to me because on one side you have a dark bayou with small houseboats and gators but on the other you have the lavish lit up blue bayou. The queue in this version is better and it has a far more extravagant jack sparrow treasure room scene and you don't have to go up the clunky old lift hill like you do at Disneyland which always feels like the chain is on its last legs. I do wish this version had the bayou minus the restraunt and the drunk Pirates firing shots at each other.

It seems in some of the recently uploaded Pirates at Disney World videos the mermaids aren't visible or working. Is that what you saw with the naked eye? Or is it just because the camera didn't pick it up?

Dennis, I disagree. Animal Kingdom is one of the best Disney parks ever, and it's certainly not in California.
Florida has the better Haunted mansion? LOL nothing about WDW is better than Disneyland. Florida is a replica of Disneyland. Walt himself even regretted WDW because it took his time & money away from Disneyland (His home, his baby)
Why do people compare the two parks anyway? It's not like they're two competing brands!
RARE DUMAN Larger size does not always equal superiority. WDW can be a GRAND example of this at some points. Sure you may have 4 parks, but little is dispersed in between the parks. You get an average of less rides per park than you do at the two parks at Disneyland, who have roughly the same amount of rides. Plus, it's easier to get around to said rides anyways. If you want to get from one park to the other at WDW, you have to go through so much shit just to get there since everything is so ridiculously spaced. Meanwhile, Disneyland to DCA is just a simple hop, skip and a jump. Of course, this argument is purely up to debate since I'm extremely biased to my love and home at Disneyland.

Megan you don't have to worry at all, my three year old nephew took the plunge & loved it. The drop is so fast & short, you should have no worries!
Megan, I hate drops as well, I can't get on Splash Mountain, but this drop is only one story(ish), and it the least steep drop possible, my stomach didn't go at all, it was actually very fun.
I'm scared of drops too, but at least this one is short. The thing that scares me is a roller coaster drop in the air with only the thin track to support you. THATS scary.
Oml my thalassophobia and My claustrophobia was so bad on this ride. I hated the drop so much and when I looked into the water to see the “mermaids” I freaked out! Idk if imma go on this again...

My favorite Pirates of the Caribbean is Magic Kingdom's Pirates of the Caribbean.
The mermaid voices are terrible. That scene is supposed to be so eerie with 'dead men tell no tales' bomming out. Masking it with other voices over the top was an absolutely ridiculous move. Great camera work btw.
What movie is this based off?
I really like this ride, but you can only do it so many times on the same holiday. After the drop, it's all fairly repetitive, and after the first or second time is a bit boring. I think that they'll replace it as some point in the future with one similar to the Shanghai version.
Gosh, I hope not. The Shanghai version is everything wrong with rides nowadays, too many video simulations.

It's more realistic now and the opening has Davy Jones and black beard instead of that skull
