I don't have an EAD10. I don't even play drums. I fully appreciate the time and dedication our man took to show everyone how to set this up when some others treat this stuff as if it was a matter of national security. Kudos!
The explanation of the Sound waves made so much sense! I have been trying to get that for years. Straight lines, blue haze, fleas. Easy! Amazing thank you
As a (former) metal drummer / musician who doesn't play anymore because of kids, wife and career, I still have to thank you for your amazing content, your burning passion and your fantastic content. It's inspirational, heart-warming and absolutely fantastic! You're a beast! I wish you happiness, good health and prosperity, because you actually hard for it and don't just "think that you deserve" shit by being alive. Keep rocking! / A (former) viking drummer
Building out my garage studio below my apartment and this video convinced me this is the way to go. Not mesh heads and triggers, silent cymbals and interfaces. Hell yeah, amazing video. Somebody pay this man.
Thank you for this video! I just got a EAD after borrowing my friends a few times, and I'm excited to try these settings out that you suggested. You rule!
I think his kit sounds garbage. Its choked to death. there is no decay on any note. It sounds like he is hitting cardboard boxes to me. Great drummer tho.
You Sir are a hero! Can´t wait to try everything you mentioned! Your language is almost killing as hard as your drumming, thanks for doing your thing! Greetings, and keep up the solid work
This is the video I need! Muchas gracias! You certainly break it down in the best colourful way. Listening in Spanish and reading the English just makes me smile all the way through the video. Excellent my friend.
Thank you so much for posting this 🙏🙏🙏 I had specifically asked in Instagram comments for this type of video after buying an EAD10 in July, I'm sure I'm not the only one who did, but none the less I couldn't be happier!!!
I bought the EAD pretty much on release day in Australia (maybe 5 years ago?) And all I've done with it is Jam to the effects and record some low quality videos through my phone. This is the FIRST video I've ever seen with someone with experience sharing knowledge and tips on its usage!!!! I struggle in this area when it comes to how to using this kind of equipment properly. My man thanks so much for the video I am going to test your advice and see what I can do! Much love ❤️🙏🥁

Excellent. I've only had the EAD for a month and it's already replaced my recording setup. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and personal setup/settings. I've got to try them out myself now.
Bought this device to play weddings with my band earlier this year and I cannot believe I finally found someone who explains in details how to use the EAD for recording purposes! 😍 Best £500 spent in my life!

Before I found your channel I could walk in to most rooms and be confident I was one of if not the best/most skilled drummer in the room. But you are showing us stuff that never even occurred to us to even try. You’re the best in the world right now. Seriously. Great work.
I've always used Compressor but I just found out there are reverb options thanks to this video! Probably the most useful drum video on UA-cam for me considering I have 0 mics and only have the EAD10. Thanks a lot! This video is automatically saved to my playlists for future reference
You should be named El Magnifico! Typically a name reserved for brilliant tenors. Yet, I think it applies here. The years of hard work and practice show in your technique and virtuosity. I have much respect for you sir, well done.

Thanks for your kind and informative sharing on YAMAHA EAD10!!! I also bought the EAD10 a few years ago right after its release, and I agreed totally with you that this is the BEST drum gear I have ever purchased in my life!!! As a drumming hobbyist myself this device really makes me wanna play the drums more and I just use the iPAD with the YAMAHA Record'N'Share App to record all my drum cover videos and upload on UA-cam straight. Surely I will try your setting and also will try muting the cymbals and silencing the snare drums and bass drums. Thanks again!!!
Hiiii! Thanks a lot for your video! And I think it's great you do it in Spanish, I also speak Spanish but it's nice to hear and change from English, i like that you keep your language 😁 and thanks for the sharing of all your learnings.
Considering you built your UA-cam Channel off of your phenomenal drumming, a few triggers and a mic I am damn impressed (that is if you use the triggers). In the live world I have gotten so use to the kick getting two mics, snare getting two mics, toms all getting their own mics, a few overheads and a high hat mic to top it all of and in all honesty you have perfected this with just a singular mic. I must ask though why not change over to using individual mics other than you have perfected your sound on the Yamaha and obviously money/time?
i do find that the loss of any mid range tom really sucks, but im sure there's a way to get all the tom sounds you could possibly want out of 1 floor tom. i would add a second floor tom if i were to go for this setup. this is sick as all hell, as i always wondered where your mics were!
I recently bought a hybrid drum kit e.g. acoustic shells w/ mesh heads and low volume cymbals because I live in Japan where too much noise is a big issue. I have been trying out a lot of the different sounds on the EAD10 as well as messing with the trigger levels, mic levels, rim shot levels, etc, so videos like this help out a lot. It's kind of a shame that there aren't more people out there talking about the EAD10 settings in more detail. If I find the time, I would love to make a video about the finer aspects of the device and get your input on the EAD10 and how to make it a better device in general. Muchas gracias for the awesome video and keep on rocking dude.
Bro you’re literally now one of my very favourite drummers and I’ve only just discovered you.. your talent is absolutely amazing bro please keep it up! I would love to see a drum cover of “dire straights - money for nothing” if you were looking for suggestions 😁
Just here to spread appreciation for this guy taking all the time and effort to go through all this, in a way us drummers understand and in a very memorable format! I’ll def be watching the master volume after dusting (with my mother’s panties) haha. Fantastic!
Interesting video, thanks for posting. Bulls on parade is my favourite of yours and it has a really huge reverb on the snare that sounds great on that particular track. Always wondered if you singled out the snare somehow because the signal sounds way more wet than the floor tom. Was fun to learn your signature tom-less style, weights and stuff comes from working with the EAD. It's served you well in that aspect.
Excelente
Multiple questions about your setup that I thought were unrelated to the Yamaha EAD were answered. Very interesting! Also, to hell with the little ad that floated over the subtitles. Damn UA-cam! Thanks for doing this! Great content as always
The best review about the EAD10 I´ve seen! Thank you for this! I still love my EAD 10! It´s such a great and simple recording device! And I´ve learned some new spanish words 😄
#1, you're hilarious. I understand enough spanish to pick up on a few things that don't quite fully translate to English. #2, no bullshit. Well maybe just enough to let your wit out of the barn for exercise. But the video was so concise and to the point, it negates the bullshit altogether. #3 you're a great coach. Very motivational and encouraging. #4 thanks for the video.
I sometimes switch between using my iPhone mic or a USB Mic straight to my laptop to record drums and edit the single track in Resolve. The advice helped me get a better idea of how I should EQ the sound :)
I was almost the 1000th like in just 6 hours. That's amazing, but this guy deserves even more! Great video and honestly, a video I've seriously been waiting for. Thanks for all this great info!
Thanks for this. I ended up buying one coz of this video. It arrived yesterday. Its f@ckin awesome fun. Just need a sound proof room so i can play into the nights. 🤓
I removed the resonator heads from the Toms and it made a huge difference. I also use deep shell Toms so the microphones sit slightly above the microphones. I guess it depends on your kit whether you need to get rid of the Toms or not.
Thank you! Great video. I’ve owned an EAD for a couple of months now and really haven’t explored the settings and scenes as I didn’t really understand it. You’ve really helped and I’m going to try your advice except I’m keeping my rack toms, they’re too much fun 😊 BTW I love all of your videos and my fave right now is ‘Maniac’ - keep up the great work.
Great video! I just recently discovered this amazing gadget (I know, late to the party again) as I was looking for a way to record my playing without having to sell a kidney. I'm convinced now! Maybe Yamaha should get back to sponsoring you.
HAS HECHO EL VIDEO MAS CLARO Y "AL GRANO" que he visto del EAD10.
I hear that in studios, they use mic's in front and behind the drums (particularly the kicker, such that they can mix and tune the sound and antisound and achieve a more rounded feel to the drum sound. Not sure if the Yamaha allows for this, but, I always thought it'ld be fun to play around with that sorta thing...even with some mics righ behind you away from the kit too. I like to nerd about tho, so, maybe not.
holy shit man thank you so much I don't use the EAD10 but I'll look into it but a lot of this info can be used for micing A kit. I have gone rounds with a band mate on moongel on the crashes at least well I did it his way once first thing he said was dude put comp, limiters or EQ on the cymbals lmao. I told him I have used 10x the amount of those tools to give him tracks then I usually used to provide other tracks from a drummer I recorded that sounded great. So now he listens to me and you just confirmed it. So you Talk about pillow in Kick. What are your if any feelings or opinions on kick drum res head port holes. By ear I prefer a non-ported Kick res Head but by recording I think I track a better or more usable sound with the port hole or that it allows me more Mic options with the hole. What is your opinion. One last thing that makes me love this video is I use to spend a lot of time tunning drums/Toms. I like your take on Tom's in general because at the end of the day If I had two racks and a floor tom and was given a recording and blindfolded and was asked by tune or tone assign the toms not paying attention to the placement of the sound in a given fill or say the sequence was all scrambled up just Identifying tom by tune at least in metalcoreish styled genres. I dont think I could tell which was which even if I tuned the Kit. I can't really tell them apart which means tom tunning per say isn't important or the spacing of tom notes in relation with each other. It's more the duration of resignation of said tom is almost more important then the actual tune of it. But without Racks the issue becomes I lose my stereo field or depth of kit if say I ran with just a floor tom. what is your solution to this problem as I use toms most importantly in Left to right Pan then most anything else. Maybe you well sorry obviously not an issue of yours. Your songs sound super deep. Is this all done with the EAD10 or have you been presented with this issues. I fear my tracks would lose character and become flat taking tom approach in a mic to interface type setting. Then that leads me to one more question do you invest a lot in drum tunning. The weight on the snare leads me to believe that in the studio you cant even find a tunning that works without using weight and moonshit or moongel whatever. Like I have so many questions now sorry. I hope you can answer one please , thank you, and sorry.
I’d love to hear you playing my kit: 1961 Camco, 12”X 8” tom, 14” X 14” floor tom, 20” X 14” bass. Tuned old school: with sustain. Can you do what you do with sustain?

Great video! I just recently discovered this amazing gadget (I know, late to the party again) as I was looking for a way to record my playing without having to sell a kidney. I'm convinced now! Maybe Yamaha should get back to sponsoring you. Abrazos desde Brasil.
I thought you were going to play Spring from Vivaldi’s four seasons with the dualist pedal 💥
I like u a lot. I’m gonna stick to sounded like me. Keep inspiring and good it did to take them to years of Spanish at university
I need a drum library with your setup, I would die happy.
Love my EAD10. Gald you turned me onto it a while back. Cheers!
Fucking Love it Bro, perfect guide for my ead10. Gracias!!!
That's pretty awesome; have you thought about doing traditional mics or just like a recorderman overhead setup + a kick mic?
Hey man thanks for this video
You didn't talk about mics sensitivity. Did you use "auto" mode, do you have any tips on how to configure this ?
HAS HECHO EL VIDEO MAS CLARO Y "AL GRANO" que he visto del EAD10.
Gracias mushasho.
Dope video 🔥 love the compression scene as well. I'mma try it out but I'll miss my tom 😢
Adelante caramba.
holy shit man thank you so much I don't use the EAD10 but I'll look into it but a lot of this info can be used for micing A kit.
