  • When I started this project 6 months ago, I didn't think I'd wait so long to finish it. At first I ran out of tiles and had to order more. But then? I just didn't have the motivation to continue... so in the box they sat, until now. My biggest kitchen project - complete! And I love how my faux stone backsplash turned out! It feels to me like I've stepped into a custom home in another country.
    Watch how I did the bottom half of the backsplash: • DIY Kitchen Backsplash...

    it came out beautifully. I didn't realize it was going to make such a huge difference bringing it all the way up to the ceiling. and the spackling at the edges truly made it look even better.

    First off you do fantastic things. Your thought process usually always pays off. I'm the opposite of you. When I decide to do something I drive myself crazy getting it done. Sometimes I would benefit from taking a break from whatever it is I'm doing. But that's not me. I'll stay up all night until it's done. I guess I'm afraid I won't go back to it or something. Also a perfectionist which can drive me crazy too. Anyway you do wonderful things and your thought process and determination is wonderful.

    I love spending a day in the life with Dalia. The stone looks beautiful and I am loving this project. I'm the worst at getting things done- I've been reorganizing my clothes closet for months but can never finish. I keep feeling like it won't be what I want if I finish so I keep putting it off. I just can't go focused until I know what I want. Yes- trust your gut. I'm going to tackle it again- wish me luck! ☀️🦩🌴🪸😊🥰☺️❤️

      OH! MY! GOSH! Me, too! Once I start, I'm "fine" ("fine" until the anxiety kicks in and then feel overwhelmed - WHY??). I think, too, I get overwhelmed with making a decision...
      Sometimes I think it's all or nothing - my brain and feelings sabotage my desire to complete a project. So, now, I tell myself, I need to change my default. Replace those destructive ideas with thoughts of I'm doing this for me! I want a pretty home, I want ... fill in the blank. However, it's not 100% fool-proof, it's still in process.
      Hope it all works out for you. We waste so much time & energy just to get and stay on task. I can be a starter but lousy finisher.

    It really does look quaint and cozy. I understand the precise cutting and spackling can tire a body. Keep in mind the "great feeling" of accomplishment when you finish. Don't think of your camera as filming just a video. You're talking to all of us. You're not alone. Kiddo, you have more energy than I. (I did finish knitting a beanie for a loved one). I could watch you curled up in bed all day talking to us! Take care Dalia ♥️

    I love, love the look of the stone in your kitchen. I also love that you it is removable. I own my home so I could do whatever i want to my home but I don’t do huge projects, like this would be if it were real stone. It would also be permanent and I fear it would change my mind on it later in life and I would be stuck. With your tutorial, I could have the look for as long as I want.

  • @vidhoard
    @vidhoard Рік тому +1

    Fire resistant does not mean fireproof. Stones are more fire proof. You could be totally fine and never have a problem. But if you ever have a stove fire, you will have a much higher chance of the tile catching on fire and then spreading much faster than if it was just stone and glass around the area of the fire. Of course you do you, I think it looks beautiful. I'd probably leave it up too. But I would sorely regret it if something went wrong! :)

      awe thank you! I'm not going to do anything with the cabinets here but do you own your home? If you do, then you could paint them, or... lately I've been thinking if I owned this apartment I'd probably strip the cabinets (strip, sand blast, sand, etc.) and try to white wash/ stain / bleach them to look more like a white oak. There are some people on instagram who refinish furniture and they have some really good techniques for refinishing wood. I haven't seen anyone do this for kitchen cabinets but that's what I'd try to do haha.
