I know DIY has many levels to it that are all valid, but as a renter in an older, city apt with limited space for construction & limited budget, I truly appreciate this kind of DIY. Some DIY/upcycle I want to last, but sometimes you just need to cover up a horrible prefab design choice to feel at home. Please continue to post content like this ❤
I wish I had your vision - the island looks amazing! I love the color which is so much nicer than the green as it brings out the detail. The dollar store boards were a brilliant idea. I would have thought to double the command strips but this works so much better. It looks high end which was the goal. I can't wait to see the backsplash on top of the cabinets. And Dalia your enthusiasm on this video was awesome- you can tell this was an enjoyable project. 😊🥰❤️🦩☀️🌴☺️
AGAIN! The perfect selection in covering. The wood looks fabulous with the detail and trim. You always come through. That sight into the kitchen is totally transformed. Nothing written down, just in your head. Bravo again Dalia. And to Parth!
I just purchased a condo and one of it's nicest features is a giant island /open kitchen concept. Like you, the ugly plain wood wall of the island facing the living room area, is none to pleasing to the eye. Yours is the first idea I've chimed in on that I'm considering as a top choice for idea's on how to enhance & upgrade/modernize that part of the kitchen that's very visible. Especially when you have a massive size island which my moderate condo does. Yours is likely candidate I'm going to attempt and I appreciate your video that's pretty thorough, demonstrating how to do each step & the materials/supplies needed. I'm not a handy type but owing a place now is impacting a bit of change as I can now do such type things & reap the investment. I was going to do tiling over the stove & wallpaper over the sink (they are on separate walls), for backsplash. Now that I instantly spotted your lovely stone, I'm off to watch that video of yours next!! I love stone, there is nothing more elegant & classy than the look of stone, so classic. I'm going to be painting the cabinet's & changing the hardware. Are you allowed to paint your cabinets if you chose? They should discount your rent or offer you some profits because you're raising the value of that property & improving it aesthetically, enhancing the potential while modernizing it up. You have a very clever eye & nifty idea's to have thought this classical embodiment up a notch!! Thank you 🤎🌸🤎
I just found your channel, and have to say I'm obsessed! Your projects and ideas are so creative. I really liked hearing your original plans and intentions, then seeing the obstacles you ran into along the way (I never seem to buy the right paint color!), and how you solved them + seeing your husband help out and keep you company was really cool. I also like that you share your price breakdown for the project at the end. You definitely have a new fan here! 👏👏👏
Dalia I'm learning so much from you. I feel more and more confident in my ability to upgrade my home. Also i really enjoyed this style of vlogging and Parth being more vocal and hearing you two work through problems. Can't wait until you guys have your own Netflix show! It really felt like an episode today :) ❤️
Wow, what a great idea. You are so creative. It looks beautiful. The fact that you came up with that solution is genius. I am going to try this in my home. Thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas.
In my opinion it’s a good thing that the colour leans purple because purple is the opposite of yellow so it compliments the cabinets and neutralises the colour. It turned out great!
Loved your husband's enthusiasm on the green. I was hoping it was more of a sagey green but you totally went old school chalkboard green and I'm glad you both weren't vibe in it. Pretty hysterical to watch. I think the color you pick is going to look awesome!!
I love it - it looks so good! The utilization of the mdf pieces and command strips to minimize potential damage is genius and the final result looks so polished and elevated with the trim installed 😯 if Command Strips doesn’t reach out, respectfully, they are missing out. I can’t think of anyone else who shows how much range their product has. Like you, I was unsure about the taupe at first but seeing the final result…it really helps neutralize the yellow and the black stools help compliment it and also tie in with the black accents of your appliances 👌🏻
Seriously Dalia you come up with diy solutions I haven't seen anywhere else! The grouted vinyl floors, the backsplash and this panel are some I can remember rn that blew my mind
This actually looks amazing, you never fail to impress. I’d be very very tempted to sponge some of the taupe paint onto a couple of “stones” on your panelling to really tie the colours in but honestly I think it looks fab. Thanks for the honestly and humility that you bring to this work!
It turned out so well! I love to see you and Parth work together. He is so sweet and amiable. As I watched this, another idea I didn’t hear you mention, was something I have used successfully several times and that is non pasted wallpaper adhered with fabric starch! You know, like the big blue bottle of Stay-Flo Liquid Starch, I think it is called? It only costs a few dollars and goes a very long way. I have used it to cover outdated accent tiles on a kitchen backsplash, the mirror in the back of a china cabinet I was painting and on the wall in the back of an alcove. Stays on for years and peels off like a breeze! Worth trying if you get stumped on a project in the future. :-)
I Love your channel so much, hun! I ordered the faux stone backsplash today after seeing your video yesterday and I’m pumped!! I love that you post the Canadian links too 🇨🇦❤ and that you come up with the most AMAZING hacks on YT for rentals! Keep it coming, I’m binging your channel while doing home repairs and you’re keeping me going! xo
I was just thinking how can I make my island a little less boring? This is the perfect solution! Can't wait to see the lamps you come up with. I'll probably copy those too 😂😂
It does lean purple but tbh it looks so dang good!!! 😍😍😍 love that someone in here mentioned how purple is across the color wheel from yellow and that helps tone down the back cabinets.
Hi Friends! Check out my blog for full step-by-step instructions on this project 😊 diydalia.com/diy-kitchen-island-makeover-renter-friendly
Can you please tell me where can I find the 90inch length curtains?
It looks SO GOOD. The purple taupe actually pulls out the exact color from the stone backsplash. Looks totally intentional!
Thanks so much for noticing the change in style! So glad you like it!

I love that you show elevated rental friendly DIY’s! The panels look really nice in the space.
Thanks Tonya!

Thanks Michele! So glad you liked the video and the Parth feature 😊

I SO appreciate the transparency in the “perfect” plan and the mishaps, and just continuing on. Thanks for your incredible content! Keep them coming!!
Thanks for noticing! I was trying to reflect real life a bit better this video 😊
Taupe ALL THE WAY. The color connects nicely to the backslash, and I agree with your husband. The green looked like a tennis court.
haha yes! Tennis court, chalk board, ping pong table are all things that have been used to describe the colour 😂

You and your hubby are so sweet…it is obvious that he really loves you! 🥰
That was such a good call to get rid of the green 😅🤣 Turned out amazing! 😍
Ha if only I could've made that decision faster!
Glad you show us all the process, love the taupe color.
Amazing how much better it looks and the color is perfect.
Thank you so much. Love you and your hubby helping us with the trial and err.
Looks so much more homey and totally clean and brighter and modern
I love the colour it goes well with the back splash, very clever!
Thanks so much Linda!
WOW, the island is Gorgeous!! You are so Creative. Command should Definitely Sponsor You! It's their loss!!!

Looks awesome! Such a creative way to be renter friendly that isn’t the same peel and stick solution. Your kitchen is such a fun project to watch.
Awh thanks so much for the kind words!
Absolutely beautiful. Love your ingenuity and cleverness.
Dalia you never cease to amaze me. It turned out so good. You’re so talented. Looking forward to your next project.

Wow, what a great idea. You are so creative. It looks beautiful. The fact that you came up with that solution is genius. I am going to try this in my home. Thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas.
That looks incredible. And I love the color. Looks 100% better than contact wallpaper. I can't wait for the next project.
I love so much your content. I own my house but I get bored with the decor so I like renter friendly diy and you are awesome
This DIY is absolutely transformative. Great job. Keepin' us all inspired with this great content!
Thank you!!
In my opinion it’s a good thing that the colour leans purple because purple is the opposite of yellow so it compliments the cabinets and neutralises the colour. It turned out great!
I agree! Plus the cutting boards leaning on the counter really marries the cabinet color with the backsplash
Yeah but I think she’s going to cover the cabinets, too. And neutralize them, as well
I love your diy projects.
Absolutely Amazing! Love the Design and color - Excellent DIY installation!
Loved your husband's enthusiasm on the green. I was hoping it was more of a sagey green but you totally went old school chalkboard green and I'm glad you both weren't vibe in it. Pretty hysterical to watch. I think the color you pick is going to look awesome!!
Ha chalkboard, tennis court, and ping pong table are all names that have been given to describe the green 😂
🤣
You are SO clever. The island is fabulous!
Thank you so much! I am excited to try this in our rental home. Can't wait to come back and show how it worked.
I love it - it looks so good! Seriously Dalia you come up with diy solutions I haven't seen anywhere else! The grouted vinyl floors, the backsplash and this panel are some I can remember rn that blew my mind
Thanks so much Virginia!
It's kind of a minky color and it goes perfect with your backsplash. Beautiful!
Looks very nice, great choice of color. I really like how you do diy that's rental friendly 😊
This actually looks amazing, you never fail to impress. I’d be very very tempted to sponge some of the taupe paint onto a couple of “stones” on your panelling to really tie the colours in but honestly I think it looks fab. Thanks for the honestly and humility that you bring to this work!
That is actually a really good idea! Thank you!

It does lean purple but tbh it looks so dang good!!! 😍😍😍 love that someone in here mentioned how purple is across the color wheel from yellow and that helps tone down the back cabinets.
