Notes: The Blue Streak opened with two PTC (Philadelphia Toboggan Company) trains. At some point the PTC trains were replaced with at least one train by NAD (National Amusement Devices). On 8/21/2002 the NAD train was replaced with one of the original PTC trains after it was restored. Since the Blue Streak's reopening in 2010, it is once again using the NAD train.
Rode this in the late 60s,the trees were shorter than the first drop.nice air time .
Got some good retracking:)
I know after 2007, they got a bunch of lumber (maybe tracks too?) from Raging Wolf Bobs.
Looks to be running fast and mean, especially down the home stretch.
WOW! Thanks for the ride!
I do miss operating this btw that was me operating it 😁 came back across this video because of my Facebook timeline
Cool ! :)
This was my first experience with roller coasters. Rather tame by today's standards, but back in the 70's oh man
It hurts too
At night it's faster than daytime it's weird
It's an urban legend at kennywood that the coasters (particularly the tbolt) run faster at night.
Silly Dill Pickle I noticed that to
A little more than a legend. Towards the end of the day, the nonstop trains running through have worn down the trim brakes and track a little (wooden coaster track and old skid brakes dull like knives, so they need to be maintained). Generally speaking, at night, older wooden coasters like this can run around 3-4 mph faster than they do earlier in the day.
jmanx360 I’m sorry but as KP is my home park I can confirm that it does. They turn the trims off at the top of the hill so it does go faster.
Looks like one of those abandoned wooden coasters
Donovan W it was at one point
When the park wasnt able to be payed for the qhole park was abandoned and the kiddyland looks like somewhere a predator would hide but it is still beatiful in Conneaut Lake.
A long time ago, an employee on this coaster was closing it up when one of the trains somehow got out of control and stopped in the middle of the tunnel. The young employee chased after it and when he went to get the train he saw what looked like a little girl sitting in the middle of the car. He never wanted to see the coaster again after his frightfull experience seeing a figure in the Conneaut Lake Park "Blue Streak" tunnel.
Chris The Movie Guy that just made me wanna ride it even more. Lol
It seems that it has a lot of airtime, does it?
Back seat ..yes!
last summer my sister and I road this coaster its a choppy ride but fun,
Is it just me, or did the name remind of Blue Streak at Cedar Point??
dont quote me on this but i think theyre very similar but not identical, this blue streak is obviously the one that came before the one in CP.
This ride is older than the Cedar Point ride-which was named after Sandusky High School team name the "Blue Streaks."
Are those NAD century flyer trains?!?!?
Yes they are ! And they still have the original PTC train from 1938
+James C WOW!!!! Do the lights on the front of the NADs still operate? long ago Kennywoods Thunderbolt had lights on the front of their trains that once operated.
+Christian Hickman No I don't think the lights are working, but they seem to still be intact !
+James C Aw that sucks, well at least they still leave the lights in the front though.
the lights do work but the battery keeps knocking them off cause of the turns
Thank you for posting a 2016 pov of blue streak. Is it any smother with the first drop retracted ?
It seemed a bit smoother and was carrying more speed throughout the entire course
I've been going there since I was a kid, I don't remember the first hill being crooked. When was that? Thanks for the video. It brings back a lot of memories! :)
That's what Bill Keith said in above comment. So I thought that's what John Vogus was referring to.
Did some high school kids get decapitated on this eons ago? - some kids stood up in the cars while coming back into the roundhouse.
I went on it and my bro was scared to death!
I rode this one today
It looks sketchy as hell
Even in 70's it was sketchy. But we loved it.
@@crunchhardtack9532 Also, the turn at the bottom of the drop looks so jarring.
I rode it I sqweeshed my grandmas arm as tight as possible
Let's clean out all the wood shavings and other scrap in the tunnel please
Awesome POV! I prefer the CP Blue Streak because it is more smooth and fast-paced. :)
Sketchiest ride I have ever seen.
Just makes it that much more fun to ride!
the last time i was there was 1993 and the first hill was crooked. it looks straight now.
Yep, it's awesome :-)
Well then, you should have seen it before the retracking. Or check out some video of Southport Pleasureland's old Cyclone coaster. Makes this look brand new.
I have a lake house in Conneaut lake and it is beautiful up there, but just because it is sketchy doesent mean it is dangerous.
does not look a bit safe to ride
mstngken well when you ride it you kinda feel like your going to fall out of the coaster but it is extremely fun
