Thanks so much! I'm in love with antique machines and shopping for a machine right now... I'm torn between the 66 and the 201 - the 66 are so beautiful....
    Warm regards Jennie

Amazing history about such a common today, but necessary piece of equipment that fueled the rise of ready to wear. But for folks like you it would be all but forgotten. Thank you.

You were the first person to tell me that they used the old war planes to make these new aluminum machines. Soo Cool. You know not the first person the ONLY person. Love your vids and thanks for taking the time to share these wonderful history and stories of these fabulous machines

Absolutely fascinating Alex, its great to hear a real story connected to a sewing machine that is still in use. I am trying to rewire my great grandmothers 1918 99K13, and its proving to be problematic.

Too bad more school teacher's don't make history come alive as you did here!

    Alex,
My wife is a professional quilter and quilting instructor.
She watched this video and wants to know if the agreement to care for and maintain the machine under the hire purchase was the local sewing machine proprietor's conditions or was that a Singer company's conditions.
She has had problems with some of her students coming to classes with machines that are not properly maintained. It is frustrating for her to have to assist these students with simple maintenance before she can proceed with the quilting class.
On the basis of your video, she says she may teasingly tell her students that if they do not maintain their machines that she has the obligation to take their machines away from them. Not that she is serious about this but that she feels that maintenance is their responsibility.

I hope she has now stipulated that the #1 rule is to have properly maintained your machine otherwise you leave for the day. It's not right that the other people in the class have to waste their valuable time they paid for on those irresponsible.
