Alex Askaroff gives you a brief history of one of the oldest sewing machine companies, Husqvarna, commonly called Viking sewing machines.
Husqvarna was the first brand new sewing machine I ever bought...after collecting quite a few treadle machines. Have not regretted it! Thank you so much for the history lesson. I really enjoy your videos and learn so much along the way... It definitely becomes a passion!
Lots of fun! Learned how to sew on my mother's beloved Viking 6010 or 6020 (I'm guessing) It was beautiful and a workhorse, until evil techs ruined it. DON'T LET JUST ANYONE WORK ON YOUR VIKING!
Thanks for the video!
Thank you Alex, very interesting to learn about the history of Husqvarna. I always LOVE to listen to your passion when speaking of sewing machines.
Just bought a 19e electric! Can't wait to play with it. Love the nod to "Out of Town" when you whistled as you walked off!
What a lovely history lesson. Very interesting. My most favorite machine ever is my Husqvarna 6460 (with cams) which I still have, and use often! Wonderful and amazing piece of machinery! Thank you, sir!
I use my 6570 daily for final construction on heavy layers. This gorgeous red beast can handle anything!
I have a Viking 21a. It was bought brand new by my Dad, and I learnt to use it when a very young child. It's still in use today. Ps I've posted this under my husband's name
I have two I just love them I have 6698 and an Opal
Oh, what beautiful machines! Thank you so much for sharing, Alex.
My mom have a Prisma/Viking 980, she bought it new and she really likes it.
Well THIS is a workshop to get busy in😍😍🤩Very interresting! thanks for sharing!Greeting from Germany😎
I love their machines …. got a 5530 and a 6000 series…..so much better than the plastic stuff being sold today !
I just love how great your videos are. You are so talented!!!
Fedt, jeg har 4.husquarna maskiner 💪
Fascinating as usual, Alex!
Oh thank you. I love my Viking sewing aching. Those are beauties
Lovely bit of history. Iv'e got a Husqvarna automatic CI21 with a blown capacitor currently, trying to find out a bit of info on what to do. I have no intention of getting rid of it, they are just a joy to use!
what do you think of the viking 116 emerald?
marvellous!
It's interesting that Singer and Husqvarna-Viking are now owned by the same parent company.
+Ronson Dalby And I believe Pfaff is all part of the same company now.
I made a bit of a bobo with the model Number on the metallic Husky, there were two models on the floor and I picked up the model 71E not the 19E (they look almost identical from above). So the later of the models I show is the 71E, sorry.
+Alex Askaroff If you visit my Sewalot site I have listed many of the Husqvarna models in more detail.
I have the same one! can you please tell me more about this machine? it's been very hard to find some info.
I have a question about the presser feet of the singer machines or in your case the generic pressers can be adapted to the husquevarna 116 smeralda machine? is that the singer 3333 has the same type of Stilt foot than the husquevarna 116. Is that possible or is there a difference?! Greetings and thanks for your videos!
Where might i find an owners manual for a early 90s model husqvarna viking madison?
Thank you Alex, so interesting. Why are some machines named Viking as well as Husqvarna on the same machine and then only one or the other name on other machines? What is the significance of Viking?
As an owner of a husqvarna 610 model since 1991, I was interested to find this video. I have only had good experiences with it as long as I treat it right and it was very forgiving while I learned to see on it. My only regret is that I never invested in a gathering foot. Would you happen to know a reputable source for one? Thank-you.
Alex - I have a Viking Husqvarna AB machine that has a "Made in Germany" stamp on it. Do you know the story behind it. It is a mechanical type with plastic cams, brown and tan. I'm guessing it is from the 60s or 70s.
I would love to hear your take... thanks
Ps It also has stamped "Type 2840" The Germany part confuses.
I have one husqvarna model 30 10 or 3000 series. What oil can I buy for it? I don’t know if the oil I use for my new machines can be used for it. Thanks for any info!
Hi Alex. Where I can get plastic ring on top of cams for Viking Husqvarna 610 machine?
Anyone know what size screw is on the cutter blade thread fetcher on the Designer Diamond Deluxe.
That was really interesting thank you. I have a Husqvarna 10 705 sewing machine bought new in 1956 in the Netherlands (I have the original receipt) that looks mid way between the last two that you listed. Were there any significant changes between the second to last model you showed and the following machines before the Viking?
Hi Alex,
I’ve recently acquired a Viking 263 industrial sewing machine and can’t seem to find the instructions manual anywhere.
Is this something you can help about. Thanks ollie
It is Hoosk-varna :)
In the US. Need a small motor belt for a viking 2000. 1958 year
Great
Actually the machine you called a 19e is a 17e. I'm looking straight at my own 19e, so I'm sure. The 17e is, absolutely, the last hand-crank machine they made and IMO the finest ever made. The 19e has a dial with pushbutton reverse to adjust stitch length on the right where yours has a lever. The 19e also uses stitch cams to do decorative stitches, has a 160-watt electric motor at the rear inside the case, and has the bobbin winder/gear reduction selector where the machine on your table has its hand crank.
I have Husqvarna 6690 , how do I do a reverse stitch?
THe button that looks like a fishing hook on the left, hold it in while you reverse.
Ok my belt is moving but the needle ìsnt moving there is a small spring disconeted but I can't figure how it was connected...please help
If is a HUsqvarna viking or similar (automatic), is the automatic sistem, wish is in the same place where you fill up the bobbin. Check the spring. But if is not Husqui...ups
Ive got one wow its old 4020 ive sewed do much got friend blows my mind bobbins case i need bad south African please
Husqvarna Viking is the worst machine anyone can purchase. I bought one Quilt Designer 2 and it’s been trouble and a waste of money. Very dissapointed after spending so much money.
I hope you managed to get a replacement Carmen there is nothing worse than a 'Friday afternoon' machine whatever the make.
