    I'm running the Mathews branded Axcel fixed 5-pin sight on my V3X 29 and it's held up perfectly through a horse pack in backcountry Nevada mule deer trip, Idaho deer trip (where I took a tumble packing out my buddy's elk and slammed my bow in the rocks), and a Kansas whitetail deer trip. I just put the Black Gold Pro FX fixed 5-pin sight on my Mathews Phase 4 29 and like it so far. I was a Hoyt guy for 20 years and loved how bullet proof their bows were. But I changed to Mathews because the draw cycle was easier on my shoulders. For those 20 years I ran nothing but Spot Hogg sights, and yes, you are right, they are hella bullet proof. ABT!

    I'm still going to wait before jumping on the ph4 train. Those rubber dampers between the limbs have me concerned when it comes to wear and tear, durability and lifespan. I know you guys say that you'll put it through its paces and what not, but that will only be until next year when the next new thing comes out. That, in my opinion, is not a true test of durability or lifespan of a product. The average Joe is not dropping a few grand on a new bow every year, for most it will be at least 3-5 years if not more before getting something new.

      @@ElkShape and that's fine, however how many new vehicles with new tech have had recalls a year or couple of years after being released due to a part tested in their R&D failing faster than projected? How many bows in the last decade with new limb tech have had de-laminations or fractures from general use within the first year or two? The engineering and R&D side of things only goes so far (I work for a bunch of engineers) after that it's all about real world applications and use, specially when it comes to new tech. So personally, I will wait on the phase4, and will probably go with the v3x33 instead as I am in the market for a new bow this season to replace my current setup.

    I’m shooting the V3X 29 this year And I love it.
    The phase 4 does not have enough improvements for me to upgrade this year. Let’s see what they come out with next year.
    It’s a shame MATHEWS always comes out with their new bow in the middle of the season. You start the season off with a brand new bow and you end it with a bow that’s last year’s model. Why can’t they come out with new bows every spring so we can buy them and get them all tuned up before the season starts. It kills me every year when my brand new Mathews bow Becomes obsolete before the season is over.
    Lame!

    • @Rob10420
      @Rob10420 Рік тому +1

      Bows made even a decade ago are not obsolete. If you need to upgrade every year you either didn’t find the right bow for you or it’s an ego thing, unless you’re a content creator/dealer.

    • @jayonez137
      @jayonez137 Рік тому +2

      @@Rob10420
      That is absolutely not true. I know plenty of people that get a new bow every year. I am one of them. If I really like a bow I will keep it but it doesn’t stop me from buying a new one. This is the first year in the last 10 that I’m not buying a new bow. Has nothing to do with ego my dude. It has to do with an addiction to Archery that obviously exceeds yours.
      I am always tinkering with new shit.
      When I said a bow becomes obsolete the following year I don’t mean in my mind,
      I meant in the industry’s mind.
      I still own my switchback, my Heli-m, my Halon, my Triax and my V3 31.
      I don’t always sell my old bows.

Although I would love to go hunting, it is very hard to find a place around here that isn't already established with prior hunter permissions. So my main focus will be using it for 3D league and possibly TAC as events come to my area.
    Any thoughts on which you may prefer for my intended use? Both seam to be a great option, and will have to see if I can shoot in lefthanded model prior to final determination.

      I just picked up the phase4 myself, threw the bridge lock stabilizer on there just because I figured I’m already spending $1200 on the bow plus $250 for a quiver, $300 on a rest and a $90 dovetail bar just to bridge lock my sight, so $100 more to get the stabilizer to go with it just wasn’t much of a big deal, super happy with the whole bow in general though, smooth, quiet, punching straight bullet holes through paper, and I’m launching a 503 grain axis with a 50 gr hit insert and 125 gr tip at 285 fps with 14% FOC, thinking I shouldn’t have an issue shoving a G5 Deadmeat clean through an elk w this setup, definitely a huge improvement from the Halon 6 I upgraded from. Don’t know why so many people are trashing the new phase4, I don’t think Mathews made this bow for everyone who already has a v3x to upgrade to, they just made a good bow with some awesome features.

    Love my Mathews bows , been looking hard at the Phase 4. Wondering if the decibel reduction is worth the reduction in FPS? shot my last 3 elk within 20 yards and they had no reaction to the string, for whitetail/mule deer guys i definitely agree that being quiet on the shot matters a lot more because they really duck. But FPS seems more important to me on elk than being silent. Also I'm all for dropping weight on my pack when your a few days into the hunt it matters but should we cut weight on something else other then our bow? heard MFJJ talking about a heavier bow being more stable and accurate on the shot... Just got my LH P4 29 last week with the 10" and 8" Bridgelock stabilizers plus back bar attachment. I am VERY nit picky and cognizant of any differences between all my previous Mathews. I still own my VXR 28, VXR 31.5, two V3X 29's. I have Flatlines (front and back) and a mix of Axcel Carboflax 500's between those. I am noticing more vertical oscillation on the ends of the Bridgelock stabilizers vs the flatlines or the carboflax's. It's a little disturbing for the price that they have more residual shot vibration than the earlier models. It's a hard vibration to describe. It's not a loose buzz, it's a definite up and down slower wobble that lasts for seconds vs the same length flatline on the same bow. Either of you notice that? Put your flatlines on your P4 Jake and test for yourself. ABT Folks!!

      @@Cody_Austin I figured I'd record a lot of the surrounding area and ask the people what they'd do and make decisions based on those options and opinions. So I'll have plenty of B-roll footage. Appreciate it thank you. I'm also trying to make it with my little man, he's 5 1/2 and I wanted to focus on how single dads can still teach their children to have morals and values and to keep them true to your heart. Do things the right way all the way be better than I was ( the opposite of a jackass lol ). To teach one reach one and pass it on try to not only make a better world but better people for the world too.

      Also I'm doing all this on my own with my own money. I don't want sponsors because that would defeat the purpose of the idea. I want to try and show people that even in today's inflation world that with time and patience ( which can be hard to find today) and a little bit of money ( yes that evil word ) you can do it. It'll be tough but I think it's possible.

    I like my V3x 33 I don’t see a reason to run out and upgrade. Not that I can afford a new 1200 dollar bow every year anyway lol.

    The one thing I hear with the Phase 4 in every video I watch and when I shoot my own 29 is the string when it hits the stop. Outside of that, this bow is DEAD QUIET to me.

    Why would you change strings on a new bow? Could it be that Mathews screws their customers with sh*t strings from the factory?

      Lots of people do, regardless of manufacturer. I have the originals on my V3X 33 with no issues, though I will admit they took a bit to settle in. Shit strings? No…. Awesome strings? No…. Screwing anyone over? Smh….

      @@michaelcolthart4006 The last Mathews bow I bought, my pro shop had to replace the factory strings twice in a three week period (serving separation and peep twist). I finally bought Winners Choice strings, problem solved. Numerous guys I know had the same issues. It pisses me off to buy a new bow, then have to spend an extra two hundred bucks on string/cables. I have not experienced this from any other brand of bows.

      Shot over 9k arrows from my v3x 33 with factory strings.. retuned after 1500 shots zero issues! I'll probably replace with factory strings when it's time.. It's a tack driver..

      Lots of great shooters use factory strings. Worth testing 👌

      Zebra strings for Mathews are notorious for stretch and peep twist with a short life. Definitely something they need to improve on along with ditching the engage grip.

    Why can't archery company make things nice. We save our money to buy these overpriced bows and over priced arrows and over priced sights. Which I have no problem doing BUT I don't want to have to replace the string right away. Because the one you sent is trash.
    I don't want to have to replace the components of an arrow. But the ones you sent don't line up and bent within a week. I don't want to have to keep tightening screws on my sight.
    Come on archery companies DO BETTER.
    YOUR SHIT IS EXPENSIVE. MAKE IT WORTH IT.
