Whoa what a fun conversation. I feel a little jealous that your entire community will know how functional a 2+1 set feels on the right board. I have been riding the aipa upright twin set with a trailer and it flies, exquisite drive and control at the same time. Aipa designs are super precise around hydrodynamics. Cheers from Peru
Loved this. Duke is the most articulate shaper I’ve even listened too.
I got a custom from Duke and absolutely love it!!!
Fantastic video.
It’s great to hear the shaper explain the why’s and how’s and results on the boards he’s building. Definitely, definitely have them on my radar now.
Boards look like they go so well. It’s really great to hear the shaper go in depth on the designs.
Love this board picked up a dark horse in surftech construction in Bali 1 month ago.
Goes sooo good.
Only issue I've got is they ding if you look at them.
Amazing board but not the best travel companion on a tour
I feel the twin trailer is so underrated I used to get all my twins in the early 80s with a rear fin box and just change the size of the trailer with the size of surf. I wish so much I still have those boards.
Ezekiel surfs world class ripping at 1:32
Agreed, William. I was pulling for years for Filipe to win his championship. Now I'm hoping that Zeke continues to show the world that he's got the skills, whether smaller Kewalo's rights or double-overhead Sunset. We love your surfing, Zeke!
Awesome to have the shaper on explaining it. Great video!
Noel! You do such a great job with all the board reviews. I am 6'6" advanced surfer. Big help this past year with the Firewire reviews. Keep it up! I know its a ton of work putting these videos together. Also helps that you rip as well! Thank You!
So stoked! Thanks Noel 🤙🏽
Great show. Still my favorite board for Waco and Mexico! Thanks, Noel. C u soon!
So sick...Zeke is surfing insane and I appreciate all the fin talk...2+1 all day lol
This is the best channel learn more every single video cheers Noel love the content
Thanks for the upload 🔥👍🤙
Ha-Yn! Yah yoo Duke!! Scored a 6-10 Aipa Bolt Dark Twinn in Jan. Futures Aipa Ahi skegs + stabilizer…Ting stay one skateboard🤙🏽🤙🏽Super sickie! Mahalo🌴🌊
2:55 min mark airbrush is super SICK!
Thanks for a great review. What’s the difference in dark twinn and Slater’s flat earth besides construction? Shape seems same, very similar if not exact dimensions.
I will drop a separate review for that in roughly 2 weeks. Hang tight
I’ll chime in. I had my 5’7 DT shaped at the same time I had a 5’8 flat earth. Duke was equally as curious as I was to compare rocker/rail profile so I brought it by the shaping bay. Entry/exit were both 2” and 4”, so largely similar even where they began on the nose/tail. If you’ve held a FE it’s a super pinched rail with most of that foam in the center. Duke also maintains a low apex rail but still carries a little fuller profile from the deck. There’s also slight entry vee to further free things up which I’m guessing is influenced by small onshore days at Huntington. All in all the DT is a much more SoCal friendly daily driver in my opinion.
@@adriancalma3508 in line with my assumptions. Thinking I will be ordering a DT soon
Cool.
I almost named my boy Duke.
Stingers are special in my memories.
My current ride is a black 10’6 single fin pin with a stinger. (Self shaped).
Surf central coast Oregon.
ssssssh, not so loud, dont forget this is a commercial, im gunna home shape one too.
Thanks for the review! How does this compare to the Dominator 2 as a Twin+trailer? Is the Dom just more user friendly and the Twinn with more performance and top end?
As someone else has asked how similar....or potentially not to the Slater designs flat earth
I will drop a separate review for this question. Hang tight please
@@surfnshowreviews7777 that’s what I’m looking forward to! I currently am on a flat earth, and to get the opinion/insight will be great
That's a sick board. Awesome review & break down of it.
Do you think that twinie's will make a comeback into pro competitions?
I hope so… the Pros are ripping hard on Twinnies.
Noel... What is your opinion on Surtech construction???
That's how surf shop's are selling the Aipa Dark Twinn & Wrecking Ball board's, in the local surf shops. I've always associated SurfTech in the same lane as the TORQ construction.
Am I way off here???
The Surftech boards are great. I like a couple of their techs. The boards at Surftech are a little different compared to the Torq boards. Both offer good flex and feel.
Hello.
I`m looking a new board but I´m undecided about the board that fits better in my quiver.
Current quiver: Mashup, Storms twin turbo and Inferno72.
New additon: Mini Ghost or Dark Twinn or Inferno FT or DHD Utopia...
Which board makes more sense to add in my quiver ???
Many thanks.
Inferno F.T. Would be your good wave board
YEA ZEKE! 💪
Hi Noel, Is it possible to compare the Dark Twinn to RNF96? both twin+1 and pretty same wave range from my understanding.
Not really… the DT doesn’t grovel well. It’s not a hybrid outline either
hi Noel… do you usually change the volume of your boards when they are EPS? I always have this doubt and I think I reduce about 1 liter in EPS. Is a good choice?
I stay the same as my PU/Poly… if you change I say 1/2L only. Example…. If your PU/Poly feels perfect at 30L then order the same board in EPS/Epoxy at 29.5L.
I’m looking into buying a twin fin for Mexico Backside point breaks (Ranch, Saladita, etc.) I’ve been riding a Revo 5’10” at 36 L and finally dialed in the fins with H4 Large sides and Taylor Knox Trailer in the back and just loving it. I’m 6’0” 180lbs. Intermediate. I’m just looking to get more that twin fin experience and been trying to research to find the feel for me. I’m considering the dark twin in XTR Single Carbon of the Christensen Lane Splitter. Can you offer any advice on this?
@@marcosmacau77 Dark Twinn is legit with a trailer.
@@surfnshowreviews7777Thanks man
Duke!!
Hi, Noel. What do you think if I put a set of regular thruster in but with large side fins and medium/small center fin?
That will go good
Hi stock Dims on dark arts site and aipa website are very different? Any idea why?
No sorry.. reach out to Duke Aipa
CI bobby quad anytime soon? :)
Yes… still waiting for boards though
Hey Salas.
Dark twinn works with a Thruster set???
If yes, which Futures set do you recommend??
Weight: 165Lbs.
Thank you.
Get a neutral template or pivot template. Neutral you can go F6 or Pivot P8
Hello I'm trying to decide between the dark horse or the dark twin. Already have the christenson Lane splitter and i love it on the lower range i have the Op1 and subxero and on the higer range i start with the sharpeye Holy toledo 2 and next the xero gravity carbontune. I want a board that will fit just in front of the christenson lane splitter to add a more shortboard feeling to it without missing the freedom of the twin. I dont use quad too much but i'm curious specially living in bali. maybe the quad will make te board too much into the performance range? Thanks
Quads are so fast…, if you don’t want a Quad then Dark Twinn it is.
Thank hoy one last question i usual y ride 31 liters for suxero or op1 I have 32 liters. Would you get the dark twin_horse rather in 5.8 31 liters or 5.9 32.4. Dose the Boardwalk padre espugna to get the lower range volume
I’m 183cm, 82kg
@@nicolasmbo09 Go 5’9”
Thank you
Zeke f'ing rips...damn
Hey Noel, did you ride it as a full twin without the stabiliser? I loved the Flat Earth like that…..
I did not… it will go good though.
@@surfnshowreviews7777 thanks Noel…I never rode the Flat Earth with a trailer after using a modern keel fin….went so good
Does it work well with thruster? Thanks!!
Yes… but you will need to use a pivot, or Neutral template do to the fin boxes being clustered.
Looks like another skim board with fins 😂🤙🇺🇦🌎✌️🇺🇲
