This is my favorite type of video. I get to drool over the plants without fear of spending any money since our Home Depot and Lowes don’t have any type of house plants except the lost basic.
Wow, liking the video right when I press play ….. some would call it lunacy, I call it dedication.❤ Just sat down with my coffee and finished another video, then this video played automatically seconds after you posted!! I needed this because I went to a local nursery here in New Orleans yesterday where I found some wishlist plants and I can now easily compare prices without having to go first! Now I’ll know where to hurry to very soon and I’m hoping to snag some price cuts for the season change! But at the same time I think I could negotiate some of the prices at the nursery considering most of the plants will unfortunately need to be rehabbed from the looks of them. 🙃 Thank you from my plants heart, can’t say my wallet will be saying the same by the end of the day! 😂😂
aw thank you so much!! haha glad I could share! I was missing filming at these stores so I'll have to go back again later this month and film again and go to the other ones. It was nice to see what's available and the prices of everything. Hopefully, you can snag some good finds you wanted for a good deal and not have to rehab too many of them 🥹🌿
@ you are so very appreciated for all that you do and I can honestly say so much of my plant knowledge and experience comes from you. I usually am not a fan of most ‘big box store’ videos however yours are the most tolerable because you take your time and show the most popular plants. I find a lot of creators spend so much time on the most common, every day plants that are almost always there.
Hey, little correction here: Alocasia Tandurusa was not "re-classified". It simply wasn't described at all, up until 2023. Last year it was finally described as Tandurusa, because that's how the locals in Sulawesi Indonesia have known it for years. It comes from "tanduk rusa", meaning "antlers", because the foliage looks like deer antlers. The whole "Jacklyn" confusion exists because someone poached the plant and slapped their own name on it, pretending that they discovered a new species. The internet didn't know better and went along with it.

I was amazed by the selection at Lowe's honestly. I feel like there was a lot of good stuff this time. This particular location I feel gets a lot of new stuff so I like checking this one 😁
Here in Little Rock, our Home Depot and Lowes are at best plant killers. They do not have anyone who can over see the plant material. I have seen a whole tables of dried out Colorado Blues, Dwarf Albertas Spruces, Etc. , only to get thrown out. Their tropical section is equally ignored. It borders on criminality.
My Schlafera was just puttering along in a four inch pot and I decided it had been in it a while so I repotted it in a six inch pot. Then it finally started growing, past the shelf above it so I moved it to my living room. It’s not under a grow light (for now) but it’s grown a foot since I moved it. Daily it’s putting out new leaves. I may have to repot it next spring.
I loveeeee plant shopping videos! I’m sure it’s hard every time you go to not want to buy something but what good finds and so worth it! The marbled pink princess is perfection 👌🏻
Thanks for posting these videos because although we are in different states, it does give me hope of what I can potentially find at my local Lowe's or home Depot. The other day I got an Alocasia Jungle cat (tigrina) from Lowes 😊
I started off watching the video, and after seeing all of the great plants at Lowe's I put you on hold for an hour to check out one of our Lowe's. I should have stayed home 🤦🏾♀️
21:44 oh hold up….. I thought I saw thrips…… there’s thrips 😮😮😮😮 omg you crack me up with your facial expressions and reactions to pests. It’s so genuine and funny. 😂😂😂
So happy for you to have sponsor for Walmart Melissa!!! They have good plants usually from Lealplants I bought two plants there before through Walmart.
Those are the healthiest Jacklyns I’ve ever seen at a big box store! We have them down here in Miami but they are always struggling so badly that I have to pass😪
I think your purchase of the Tortum is excellent. A beautiful and unique plant you should name it Dr Who because it sounds like the term Tardis. Could the Tortum have the ability to conduct time travel like the Tardis? That would be a great superpower for you; you could eradicate thrips!!! Wonderful! Enjoy your new plant.
I love to see the tandurusa in a big box store! They are definetely one of the most pretty and unique alocasias out there! Your pink princess is sooo beautiful! I would say it is a marble, not a regular PP.
Maybe a little off topic here. Got six tomato plants this last spring from my local nursery. Four of them died within 3 weeks. Could not find any more at the nursey stores in the area. So I went to Menard's. Bought four of their tomato plants and hoped for the best. Cut to the chase, those 4 plants were fantastic and produced until the first frost. Guess I'll be doing Menard's next year for my tomatoes!
Hi Melissa, I'm sure you are aware of the Anthuriums Proven Winners is selling. They are sold under the name Arching Amour. I will be watching your Home Depot videos hoping you will run across them. I live in the downtown Atlanta area, I'm sure if you run across them, I will be seeing them soon here. Let's keep our fingers cross, lol!!!!!!
That is a beautiful pink princess,I would have taken it as well. ALOT of nice plants with a good variety.Thank you so much,I love going shopping with you.Or doing anything with you, lol.take cate,a fan!!!!!!❤
Wow Melissa your stores sure have a lot more selection of plants than what I have here in Manitoba at this time of year! Probably a good thing for me because I just can’t resist picking up a cute plant when I see one! 🙄 Your face when you saw thrips and then your hair at the end of the video gave me a good chuckle! You’re so funny! Enjoy your weekend! We’re still having nice weather here and I’m heading out for a hike shortly.
I spotted a very pretty teal colored plant pot and apparently you didn't feel the same as you panned right passed it. At Lowes. I may go see if my Lowes has it. I haven't had a Norfolk Pine for years and really like them. If I remember correctly they get some bugs (don't remember which). Seems strange seeing you out and about. Fun video
What?!? That's so cool! I would definitely buy some if they ever made their way here. I feel like I never seem anthurium at the big box stores unless it's the one with the red flowers.
I love tortum! Mine is a super slow grower... I think it might like higher humidity. But I think if I find a nicer bigger one for that price, I'd be tempted!
Im in Ohio. Home Depot had huge marble queens, heart leaf philodendron and brazils they were marked 50percent off. I saw tortum two in pot I passed them up. So fun to find deals
Before I buy a new plant from a store I go through all the leaves and stems 2-3 times, non-plant people must think I'm weird the way I look at that plant up close for like 10 minutes 😅

You have so much more to choose from, than we have here in Sweden. The prices are good too.
Thanks for the tour.
