    I loved when Andrew saw a movie and explains it to Avaryl. The only thing more magical is when Avaryl does it but has to explain the book, and the miniseries, and the first movie, THEN this movie.
    I feel like this video is an accredited class for some junior colleges.

    Fun Fact... or in this case I guess: Not So Fun Fact: The primary catalyst in the scary clown sub-genre was the serial killer John Wayne Gacy. Although he didn't dress as his self named clown personas, Pogo or Patches to lure his 33 adolescent victims (ranging from 14-21yrs old). He was soon dubbed "the killer clown" due to the fact he often preformed as Pogo/Patches at charity and children's events. His crimes took place from '72-'78. "IT" the novel was released in '86. PS I love u guys 😘!

And no Avaryl is not misremembering, the magical black person got the magical information from the magical native americans. This movie literally did that.

    The fact that Andrew, a gay man has never watched Carrie (1976), is criminal. If you like Mean Girls and Heathers, you’ll love Carrie. Get on it Andrew!
    BTW: The zombie driver was the other bully that Pennywise killed in the sewer in part 1. His name was Patrick. In the novel, he was a sadistic kid, who had the hots for his buddy. He was attacked by flying alien leeches and dragged off and eaten alive by Pennywise. Scariest part in the book. Totally ruined in the movie.

    As someone who read the book, I can clarify that many of the flashbacks were taken from the book but they didn't happen for them to get talismans. Just weird stuff in the town they encounter when they come back of stuff they remember from childhood. Probably the reason Mike didn't get a flashback is that his involved a racist bully poisoning his dog. Nobody likes a movie that kills the dog.

  • @spamwise249
    @spamwise249 4 роки тому +4

    They do split up and explore the town alone in the book, only to try and remember their childhood, not collect random crap. , It works there because the entire book (contents of the first film) is told in flashback while they walk around so we don't know in advance how bad it all was. If they'd used the books structure, which is already split in two parts, they wouldn't have had to waste any time making up new stuff to justify their treasure hunt.

    It also felt really weird how they made the guy who committed suicide a hero at the end. Suicide doesn’t seem like something that should be glamorized. And also for a movie showing how wrong bullying is, it seemed weird that their solution to beating Pennywise was bullying him. Pick a lane IT 2, pick a lane

  • @AmandaBackstreet
    @AmandaBackstreet 4 роки тому +4

    I enjoyed the movie (aside from how they beat Pennywise) and I cried at the end because of Richie & Eddie, but I can appreciate a movie roast. At least Avaryl stayed through the whole thing, instead of the time they walked out of "This Is the End" (2013) before the plot even started, smh.
    I never thought of It movies as being intended to be scary. They're more campy like Freddy Krueger movies, but with a greater focus on the characters and how they battle their own demons.

    I wish they had kept the original end to the old woman scene. Instead of a jump scare, she just realized that all of the apt was Pennywise in her head and she was really sitting in a decaying, abandoned building drinking sewage out of an old teacup.
    The adult portions were always the weakest part of the story for me. But they were still creepy whenever Pennywise was was tricking them into doing gross, terrible, or dangerous things by making them not be able to trust what they were seeing.

    1) You've mentioned this before: you guys should definitely review Drag Me To Hell for Halloween 2020!
    2) I remember reading IT when I was 13 and for some reason the underage "gangster banging" never struck me as that weird. Maybe 'cause I'm queer it was actually a relief to see a portrayal of kids having strange, taboo urges. Thankfully, the writing isn't explicit--the focus is on Bev's FEELINGS and not what they're all doing. And in the book King makes it clear that Beverly actually loves them all very much. IDK, I'm just saying, as an outcast weirdo who felt things he wasn't supposed to be feeling, THAT scene was something that made me feel less alone and out-of-place.

    • @theoddsalami
      @theoddsalami 4 роки тому +2

      Whodo Voodoo yea I understand why people get freaked out about that scene but it never struck me gross because it wasn’t about just sex it was more about Beverly overcoming her fear of her womanhood and taking power over it. To me it was kind of sweet because it was all consensual and out of pure love. I dunno if I’m missing something but that’s how I see it 🤷‍♀️

    I really liked the first movie, because making the child-arc into this 80s Goonies’esque vanilla-fantasy worked. It had enough spooky parts, but also gave the kids room to grow.
    The second movie felt like the first one all over again, but suddenly they are adults. Adult fears are different and in the book it was actually a point that their fears had evolved.
    It wasn’t just a witch, Beverly realises that her fear of the witch was linked to her father, etc.
    The second movie is just half baked.

    Listen I know this movie is a mess but I haven’t been able to stop thinking about my Actual Son richie tozier since I saw it, he’s the anxiety ridden gay rep I needed, considering I wore a rainbow shirt to go see it, then had a panic attack in the bathroom when it was over (what up ✌🏻)
