I'm forever in love with Soule's work from the early 00s era. This kinda music defines fantasy and worldbuilding within me to this day and will likely stay that way for life.

Soule is currently under attack by a #MeToo washout. He has wisely chosen to hunker down and ride out the storm. We may never see him emerge to work his magic again.
Afraid I’m one of the plebs associating Soule with only TES, never looked up other work of his, mea culpa. Sounds like he’s always had a knack for using volume, love his use of crescendo.
Although the history line of this game maybe be poor, everything else is a master piece... The music is brilliant and also the scenario's.Look like hand painted, such beautiful colors and landscape !! Great game!
I always equated Buldur's Gate with the intimate struggles of the Hero's Journey, but Icewind Dale was laid out as the cold, merciless life of mercenary adventurers. Those that venture to the Spine of The World dare not hope for beauty and freindship, only to survive one more day.
I'm thankful for this series, they still hold up and in my opinion better than other modern cRPGs :) I do have a question though, where were you able to download these maps in such high resolution? I'm been looking to use them for my own D&D sessions!
I agree. The reason behind this is because the motives and interest of the developers were founded upon integrity and a genuine desire to make the best game they possibly could. For example the lead developer and writer of Black Isle's Baldur's Gate had purposefully read every Forgotten Realms written at the time prior to writing the content for those games. You don't see that type of dedication in today's developers; and if you do, it is isolated to just that person rather than the entire team sharing the same fire. Gamers from that generation cared more than today's new generation of casual gamers.
"Jeremy, you're the god of fantasy music. Love you~ " The note says. It appears that beside the note lays an offering bowl to some kind of god. Could this "Jeremy" be a Daedric Prince of Song?
