for raising the technical stat, do you have to wait for everyone to join your party or can you start leveling it up as soon as you gain access to the dart place?
Alright, I'm very confused right now. I had to pause the game for a couple days so I don't exactly remember which books i read and which i didn't. Anyways, I am at rank 3 technical and have read the book the owner gave me, but playing billiards 2 times didn't make Joker even attempt the trickshot. Is your proficiency max? In addition to reading the book you're given at rank 3, you must also have rank 5 proficiency to attempt the trick shot for rank 4. As for the Jinbocho books, that was my mistake. Reading all of them unlocks the hidden technical rank but you can start reading them as soon as you unlock Jinbocho; something I wasn't aware of at the time.

I can’t believe i platinumed the game and didn’t even know about this. So wait, if the technical ranks are party wide, could you theoretically do this as soon as you finish the speed-reading book? hey man. just discovered your videos yesterday and they're awesome! just subscribed. keep it up! I do have a question however, I got technical rank 4 a few in-game days ago but there's no book in Jinbocho. Why is that?
Hmm, the first book should be there as soon as you unlock Jinbocho. The next ones won't appear until you have read the first one, and the final won't appear until you read all 5 previous books sold there.
I wasn't thinking of getting royal but after watching a few of your videos I'll consider getting it now. Were the dungeons made less boring to traverse? I kept getting stuck on the cruise ship because I kept falling asleep at the controller and making mistakes that killed the party.
That's not a major spoiler. Original game has been out for years now and the only way anyone who hasn't played the game would know it's the "old" final area (no longer the final area, btw) is if someone points it out. :P
As a beginner of the Persona series, do the books carry over to new game plus? Or will I be able to do the neat things that I learned from the books carry over to new game plus? I might not be able to do all the activities and social links in one single run.
It has been a while so I could be wrong on this but I don't remember them carrying over -- you have plenty of time at night though so that's the best time to read books.
@@Sleepyduo38 oh I'm not talking about optimization, just that the night time slot is the most free due to there being far fewer night confidants, so it's the best time slot for books since there is more free time. You can also read on the nights you come back from Mementos or a Palace, even the times you're forced to go via the story.
So, Billiards takes up time Darts takes up time Justice levels manually We have two new Confidants that level manually Is the extra playtime enough to still do all this and MAX all Confidants in a single playthrough (assuming you clear a Palace in as few days as possible)
It's actually 3 confidants that rank up manually since Akechi's has been completely reworked. You actually have plenty of time to max out everyone before you even get to the 3rd semester if you are careful with your time. In fact, on your first play through you can max all confidants, clear all requests, see every unique event, collect all collectables, read all books, etc; you can literally do everything except romance and friend zone each romance and two of the super bosses in one run.
@@stevenhiggins3055 Sorry. Been re-playing P4G to compare my thoughts on them so when I read Justice the first thing that popped into my mind wasn't Akechi, lol.
Sorry for how late I am to ask this, but say I put an enemy to sleep and want to maximize my technical damage. Barring the actual power of each skill, would hitting the enemy with a psy or nuclear skill do more damage than an almighty skill (like megidola)? For the sleep ailment, I know it says that psy, nuke, and "everything else" apply technical damage. Is the fact that the first two are categorized as sort of separate, more specific entities from the broader third one within the same list meant to indicate that they do something extra? Perhaps a bonus damage modifier or boost? Any insight on this?
The list is setup that way because Psy/Nuke technical off of almost everything, with the main changes coming from other damage sources. When doing technical damage, the amount of damage you will deal is determined by enemy weakness and resistances, ability damage coefficients, stats of the ability user, stats of the targeted enemy, passive abilities of the user, baton pass stage, baton pass level, and technical level. Therefore, assuming you are deciding between two abilities in which all the exact same conditions have been met the only deciding factor would be enemy weakness and resistance. Example: Psiodyne and Ziodyne both deal technical damage to an enemy suffering Forget. Assuming you are using Joker and have the respective Boost and Amp passive for both elements, and the Persona using those elements have the same magic stat, the only thing that could change which would deal more damage is whether or not the enemy was weak or resistant to one of those elements. Keep in mind that even in this scenario damage variation does exist so they may not necessarily to the exact same damage.
Thank you so much for the clear and detailed response. I want to build some sort of status applying trash mob cleaner/victory cry set for raoul but it's a bit complicated knowing what to prioritize and how to make hypothetical calculations. Luckily I believe I can understand it all very well now and know what i'd like to go with, so thank you so much again.
@@noxiebobo If you wanted to do that the best setup would be to abuse his unique sleep ability with Riot Gun since so few enemies resist/null gun damage.
Have some questions: If you hit a weakness at the sane time as antechnical, does your weakness damage boost get overridden by technical damage? Also if you have ailment boost and the ailment boost trait, do they stack and do they have any effect on skills that already have high chance of inflicting status ailments?
Weakness appears to be prioritized, but beyond that I can't be sure of the details. Skills and traits seem to stack as well (which makes the new party member a crit-hit goddess)
According to the wiki, weakness is prioritized unless the enemy is frozen. In that case, affinities with physical (null, repel, weak, etc) are temporarily overwritten and technical physical attacks will take priority
The story continues past the original game's ending. The groundwork for this is laid from the very beginning and is worked into the original game's plot so as to make it feel as if it should have been there all along. I can't really go into more detail without spoilers. As for confidant's, I mentioned this in the video but one confidant has been completely reworked, there are 2 new ones, and the others have received some changes, such as new abilities and reworked ones. Social stats are the same.
I'm currently doing Sae's palace (11/1) and I have not gotten to reading the books for jinbocho, I have already gotten the technical rank up to 4. Is it possible to get the hidden rank at this point? Just got to this part in Royal and I only needed to read one book to get the secret technical rank. Didn't even need to have reached that level of technical already, just found it in Jinbocho.
The book to start the hidden rank I believe can be purchased before reaching technical rank 4 as you said (this was pointed out to me by a viewer), but the book that actually gives the extra technical damage options should not be available until you've read the 5 prerequisite books.

The last tech upgrade is very poorly implemented. I maxed out my social stats before even buying those books and didn't intend to bother reading them. By the time I do I'll be at the end of the game. I guess it still beats spamming trips to the gym.
No it's not. P5R offers a lot of freedom in how you spend your time, and because of this freedom many ways to increase social stats and confidant ranks have been implemented, much more than is necessary specifically for cases such as yours in which the player chooses to use other means to acquire points. Just because you didn't buy the books until after you maxed your social stats using other methods doesn't make the system poorly implemented, it just means you prioritized other activities. All ranks of technical can be unlocked before the end of June if desired. If it takes a player until the end of the game then that is entirely on them, not the game.
This is a video talking about changes to Persona 5 Royal for which there are no major spoilers. for raising the technical stat, do you have to wait for everyone to join your party or can you start leveling it up as soon as you gain access to the dart place?
You can start whenever you want.
One question, can concentrate or charge be cancelled? Maybe by knockdown, allies all out or special ailment?
Does baton pass and technical damage boost carry over to ng+?
They do not.
Rozalin oof
Alright, I'm very confused right now. I had to pause the game for a couple days so I don't exactly remember which books i read and which i didn't.
Anyways, I am at rank 3 technical and have read the book the owner gave me, but playing billiards 2 times didn't make Joker even attempt the trickshot. Then i went to check out Jinbocho and it turned out I already read the first book you need for the "hidden" rank and unlocked the next 4 when i went there, but I'm not even at rank 4 technical yet.
I'm assuming I missed something major and probably stupid, but I can't figure it out
Is your proficiency max? In addition to reading the book you're given at rank 3, you must also have rank 5 proficiency to attempt the trick shot for rank 4.
As for the Jinbocho books, that was my mistake. Reading all of them unlocks the hidden technical rank but you can start reading them as soon as you unlock Jinbocho; something I wasn't aware of at the time.
@@RozalinGaming Yeah my proficiency is maxed. Weird, i guess i'll just save before and try again from time to time
@@Beambamosu Do you have the Pool Cue? And also did you read the book from the sports shop? You can buy both from the Underground Mall Sports shop in Shibuya (it's in the back of the mall, make a left and go straight ahead).
9 million yen hehehe good to see some of the olds strats still work even if we have to put in a bit more work
All of my money was gained via the new stamp system in Mementos.
@@RozalinGaming quick question is that stamp system faster or slower than the old max luck persona money farming, that took about like 30 mins to get to make money?
Ps: thank you for all your replies I really appreciate it :)
@@djmax5481 It's quicker in that you don't need to make a max luck Persona anymore. You can also gain a lot of XP through it. Essentially it's a system that eliminates the need to grind.
I'll be doing a video over Mementos changes, but the tldr is that with stamps you can increase the amount of XP and Yen obtained in Mementos to 200% and make it so that when you run over items while exploring Mementos you get 11 items total. These increases also apply to Ryuji's now useful Insta-kill ability.
I can’t believe i platinumed the game and didn’t even know about this.
So wait, if the technical ranks are party wide, could you theoretically do this as soon as you finish the speed-reading book? Or do you need to have all of your party members be at the pool table as shown in the video for them to be effected?
You don't need everyone to join to do this. Anyone not in your party will still get the technical buffs when they join.
hey man. just discovered your videos yesterday and they're awesome! just subscribed. keep it up! I do have a question however, I got technical rank 4 a few in-game days ago but there's no book in Jinbocho. Why is that?
Hmm, the first book should be there as soon as you unlock Jinbocho. The next ones won't appear until you have read the first one, and the final won't appear until you read all 5 previous books sold there.
so I am going to make a nice video explaining some changes. what does this video need for youtube? the two persona that look like genitalia!
How did you get that Multi Target Heat Riser Persona?
Attis with his Persona trait.
Rozalin so, how did you build him?
@@jackbuildersmasher6346 I fused an Attis and then used skill cards to remove his weaknesses.
Rozalin thanks. Starting NG+ and hoping to get a good Persona group
I wasn't thinking of getting royal but after watching a few of your videos I'll consider getting it now. Were the dungeons made less boring to traverse? I kept getting stuck on the cruise ship because I kept falling asleep at the controller and making mistakes that killed the party.
Uh, if you found the dungeons boring in the original then this game isn't for you.
Great video.
But why, if there are no major spoilers, are you playing in
The final area?
That's not a major spoiler. Original game has been out for years now and the only way anyone who hasn't played the game would know it's the "old" final area (no longer the final area, btw) is if someone points it out. :P
As a beginner of the Persona series, do the books carry over to new game plus? Or will I be able to do the neat things that I learned from the books carry over to new game plus? I might not be able to do all the activities and social links in one single run.
It has been a while so I could be wrong on this but I don't remember them carrying over -- you have plenty of time at night though so that's the best time to read books.
@@RozalinGaming sadly I don’t know how to be the most optimal for my first run, that’s why I was asking
I have this preordered but I wont play it till I achieve platinum in the original
I havent preordered it and I refuse to until I play the original
So, Billiards takes up time
Darts takes up time
Justice levels manually
We have two new Confidants that level manually
Is the extra playtime enough to still do all this and MAX all Confidants in a single playthrough (assuming you clear a Palace in as few days as possible)
@@RozalinGaming I said two *new* Confidants, and already had mentioned Justice before that.
But thanks for the info.
Dont mimd the change in the font size of the text, hardly notice it.
Entertaining and informative video, my question is how the story will be changed and how confidants and social stats will change
Granted makoto plus haru is strong enough already but I don't think I've finished any besides the first book due to focusing on the new confidants and social stats
You should have time.
@@RozalinGaming yup, kawakami hooked it up in class. Thanks!
is it worth just focussing on dizzy/ sleep seeing as everything gets technical damage on those ailments?
I use sleep from time to time but never really used Dizzy.
I have a question. Does this and Baton Pass ranks transfer over to new game plus like Social Stats?
Sadly, no.
Rozalin What exactly does transfer then? Just the same as the base game?
@@MeliariMelody Yeah.
Rozalin That’s quite disappointing
@@MeliariMelody Actually (completely forgot about this for some reason), any stat boosts to party members that are gained via the new Jazz Club feature carry over; and any skills gained that way can be learned from the confessional in the church as soon as it becomes available.
Do I/should I wait to get a lot of party members unlocked before playing billiards? Because I feel like it might waste a time slot to play with only a few party members unlocked, if I need to come back again to do the rest
I’m in the same boat - I only have half the thieves right now, but I’m not sure if it’s worth going to billiards now or wait until I have at least Makoto or Futaba.
Technical rank is party wide so even members not in your party yet will benefit once they join.

Can anyone confirm if the the fool perks carry on into new game plus and do we get the max persona slots from the beginning of new game plus like persona 4 and golden?
Nope, no Fool/slot carryover.
Wow this seems hard for me. It was hard for me to beat Persona 5 even on easy... and although I’m happy with the new things added to the game I have a feeling I’m most likely going to have trouble when playing Persona 5 royal. Only because I suck when it comes to persona games lol
Is there any visual indication of your technical rank like there is for batton pass rank
On the screen where you can see all of your party members there is a graphic that tells you your technical rank.
What's the title of the last book available at Jinbocho?
I don't know the official English title but you have to read all of the books that end up being sold at Jinbocho.
This might have been answered already but do these carry over to ng+.
Sadly they do not.
Is there a transfer system between base Persona 5 and Royal? I know P3 had something like that, not sure about P4 though
If you're talking about save data, no. Too many changes and additions for that.
I don't know where the sauce is, but if you bought the DLC or Costume bundles for P5, they should be availible for P5R for a measily 5 extra dollars.

Don't you think because of it P5R is too easy? I play on merciless and only bosses are a challenge because you can't inflict ailments on them. Of course enemies also can oneshot you but the main gameplay mechanics is ambush so they never have an opportunity to do so.
I think the difficulty level is fine. It rewards smart play and punishes stupid mistakes.
We Tech those...

I would argue that a comment about the footage used that provides context to said footage, which prior to said comment had no context and thus only people who knew about what was shown would understand where the footage is from, is more of a major spoiler than anything in the video.
The footage is also no longer from the late game. :P
