Persona 5 can get very overwhelming at times. I can be a perfectionist, but I think for my first playthrough I want to just have fun and try not to overthink everything. When I start overthinking the game it stresses me out and stops being fun. I would really like to not screw up the first dungeon though.
Yeah don’t worry too much. Videos like these are meant to be revisited just in case you want to understand a specific part of the game. There’s a lot to do and a lot of different ways to do it especially since NG+ is a thing.
I have been feeling the same I put the game down for a few months. Now I am back ! Baby! I casually listen to videos like this at work so I can have balanced gameplay. Thanks got the vids !
My mic was having issues while recording the audio and I couldn’t figure out what was wrong so I added more text so I’m not misunderstood. I really wanted to get this video out on time
I needed this video the velvet room is such a headache learning what monsters need to fuse with what and then learning how skill transfers work all that makes me wanna cry learning it
Being a casual gamer and very new to RPGs, I tried watching this before I started playing because I was already overwhelmed by other videos that I'd watched. Bad idea. However, now that I've played it for a few days this video makes a while lot more sense to me. Thank you for making it!
@@KDThreeSixtyOh no, don't change a thing! I think the level of your video was perfect for someone who had at least tried to play and got confused. I was as beginner as it gets.
@@KDThreeSixty Man, I just played another 10 or so hours in the last day and a half and I am so in love with this game. I'm actually amazed at how complicated I found it at first, considering it's technically my first "real" RPG. Thanks again for the tip videos. Would you consider making one specifically about fusion? I've got the basic idea from this video of how to use it, but I guess I'm kind of curious about how to use it properly (ie. what should I be aiming for?) Or maybe I should just stop overthinking it and keep loving the game as I've been doing :-)
Thanks for this video. It's my first persona, and after 18h, I'm still confused by the mechanics. Sometimes I want to stop playing but I feel I'm going to love this game... I usually love Japanese RPG like final fantasy. I've still not cleared the 2nd palace and feel I'm still in a giant tutorial. Hope I'll understand this game soon!
Dude I've had persona5 on Switch for a while and the timing to play it hasn't been right. Finally in a position to really give it a go - trawled a ton of videos for advice and yours was the BEST by a mile for where to start and understand the mechanics. Awesome job - thank you
I have NEVER seen in a vid essay that the game will tell you the cool tips like "Hey, a persona like X will be helpful" or "this location could help me with my Charm".. I am very early on in P5R still... Thank you SO much for letting me know this! I was very worried the game would not help me at all. This takes a lot of the stress away from missing events or something :)
I never played persona so I think ima finally play it only thing that makes me nervous is the limited time each day I’m used to doing a lot at one time
One correction, the one where your teammates gets talen hostages is very much in OG P5 as well. I've gotten help several times from other teams to rescue my teammates in my plat run. Same with the velvet room things you mention. Fuse by result and strengthen persona is in OG as well, and Network Fusion only being changed, but was still part of og.Unless you mean it's new in P5, as contrarey from previous titles like P4 and P3
Small correction regarding the elemental affinities and resistance hierarchy: Drain [element] is higher tier than Repel/reflect. I once tried to use a skill card to repel an element that a persona naturally drained and nothing happened; conversely, if I tried using a Drain skill card on a persona that naturally reflected something, the change would be reflected on their screen. So, from lowest to highest, the hierarchy goes: Resist/Str Null Repel Drain Otherwise, great video.
The basics of the mechanics should be easy enough for anyone that plays RPGs on a regular basis, and should be enough to get through the game, but these are good tips to bring it to another level.

I've only got about 20 hours on the game- but I've run into an issue: myself. I'm a pretty big completionist, and I don't like playing games with so many choices because I'm always worried I'm not playing it right. Particularly with this game I have so many deadlines and limited time- it really stresses me out. It got really bad after I was about halfway through May and discovered an optimization guide doing things I didn't know were in the game. That it doesn't matter that much? I spent most of my early time just studying in the evening periods and I didn't really spend my time wisely. It's a constant pressure because I know quite a few confidants leave at certain times and that the game can end early if you don't level up councilor fast enough. Any advice or assurance you can give me so I don't go crazy worrying about it? I'm about to start Palace 3 right now- around 6/15 or so I think.
Don’t worry, you have plenty of time to do stuff. And you’ll probably have most of the completionist stuff done before endgame. Just make sure you rank up counselor, justice, and faith before November. Also does that mean you’re going to complete the thieves den achievments? If so, don’t stress out about your first playthrough because finishing that requires two minimum playthroughs because of NG+ exclusive content.
@@KDThreeSixty I ended up taking a break from the game for a few days and am excited to get back to it. I really appreciate the advice, I actually forgot that I'll have so much time at the end, iirc, it's like a month or something of free time at the end anyway? Knowing that helps me relax. Again, thanks a lot for the advice.

Oh well, I am too far in to change lol. Noted (for me at least) don't play P5R like P3R. I will eventually get to new game plus and fix all my mistakes if you can call it that.
Amazing video! Very clear and precise. Since you have a 100% compendium completion, may I ask what is the most efficient way to go about it's process? I mean constantly looking up what we have and what we're missing seems to be a very tedious task. How did you go about it? Also how many total personas are needed for 100% in-game compendium completion? Can they be done in one playthrough? One small request; can you make a detailed video on the process of creating a powerful persona? Thank you!
Whenever I play a persona game I use something called a fusion calculator to keep track of what I do and don't have to fill up as much as I can in my first playthrough. You can organize your personas by things like level or arcana along with the calculator to keep track of what you do and don't have. The calculator also tells you every combo you can use to make a persona you don't have. In Persona 5 royal it's not possible to 100% in one playthrough due to one persona requiring new game plus. Getting the twins to rank 5 let's you make higher level personas for a fee. Since managing personas is expensive. My money guide can help you afford to finish it faster.
Hi. I actually knew about Fusion calculator, but was hoping there would be another way to track it in-game. If not, then no worries. I guess it would be a long and arduous task. I'm already 120 hours into the game and have 47% completion at the moment. Money is a non-issue as it's been maxed out as has my character & party level being 99. Since I spent most of the time on social aspect, I was hoping to get some directions on the combat/persona creation part. This is my first Persona game, so too overwhelmed by the amount of things to make note of at every turn. :P
