  • Having had a zero day in Whitby the day before it was time to finally complete the Cleveland Way.
What was intended as a thruhike ended up as 3 section hikes.
Being dropped off in Scarborough late morning the weather was pretty grim, strong winds, raining and misty...
I set out along the South Beach until reaching the Spa and cliff hotel, the waves crashed against the sea wall.
Once I'd cleared Scarborough and reached the top of the landslip I was once again following the cliff edge however unlike the previous 3 days the ground was slick with mud rather than the dusty path I'd been using.
Briefly cutting inland prior to Cayton Sands the weather was pretty vile as I trudged along the road.
Back up to the cliff after an easy climb and I could make out Scarborough South Bay in the mist.
Then slowly but surely impressive headland of Filey Brigg with its impressive cliffs came into view.
A break in the weather saw the rain begin to ease as I approached ever closer to the finish line.
To once again reach the marker stone that was not only the terminus for the Cleveland Way but also the Yorkshire Wolds Way, which I'd completed back in 2019 was not only a joy but also a relief as the journey had been interrupted by injury so many times.
My 4th National Trail was now complete...
Filmed on GoPro Hero 9 and edited in Filmora 12.
    Music from Epidemic Sound.
