the nice thing about taking grookey, is that because of his weaknesses, you end up leveling your team pretty evenly by always swapping him out of bad matchups. he's good for the playthrough experience.

Something that people seem to easily miss about Inteleon's signature move is that it has an increased critical hit chance.

Truthfully, the alternatives for Rillaboom are also quite numerous. You have the Applin evolutions, Roserade, Tsareena, the Oddish line, Maractus, Trevenant, and more. All 3 types have good, solid alternatives. Not that they are must-have types on a playthrough though

I love fire types but recently I have found myself drawn to the grass types and this list is an exact replication on my thoughts on choosing as I would choose grookey that is if I had the game 😅

I agree 100 percent,I chose Grookey as my starter and he was amazing during my play through,and the low speed of rillaboom didn't seem to effect me since he'd tank everything opposition would throw at it,while lowering there speed with his signature move beating drum

Well, weak in terms of hp and (sp) defense. Sweeping teams relies on speed and (sp) attack.
Intelleon is what is referred to as a 'glass cannon'. He's really good at dishing out damage, not so good at taking damage. Think of him as the Mage of the trio.

No mention of Court Change for cinderace, the speed stay makes him a real solid prankster-esque Pokemon. Plus the unreleased Libero, Cinderace is likely going to be the best of the 3 by the end of the gen

I think he's talking about if you're on the same level as the Gym Leader's Pokémon (which you often aren't in these games).

I'm ALWAYS overleveled in Pokémon games. Even in Gen V I ended up far higher level than the Gym Leaders, thanks to Lillipup's tendency to pick up Rare Candies, coupled with Audino's tendency to turn into a Metal Slime.

Rillaboom was Grass/Normal; Cinderace was Fire/Steel; and Inteleon was Water/Ghost ?
A great type: rire/steel
These dual typings could actually be good, they are quite an accurate description for each of them. Plus, the typings are more or less balanced.

Greninja in kalos was amazing but oshowatt in unova and poplio in Ahlola were not the best. ( I love poplio and he is one of my favourite pokemon but in reality, he isn't as powerful as litten ). However sobble is my favourite starter this region cuz I love high damage, glass cannon and quick pokemon.

Not only that but in the main game, he also has Fighting Type moves that he can switch to, and a few PP Ups can take care of the 5 move limit problem.
I finished the game with sobble as my starter, he literally never died once.

The game felt too EASY tbh. Smh I remember having to actually train before gym fights and struggling sometimes even if my Pokémon were stronger. Now it’s just ONE SHOT everything and it’s annoying

I chose Scorbunny and I wasnt a fan of his final evolution but when he evolved into it it's not too bad, the final evolution gets much better when you notice it's supposed to resemble a Soccer player

Glad to see Grookey won, I’m not a fan of most grass types but I always find myself preferring the grass starter over the other two (with a couple of exceptions) but good list and reasoning overall. I often find myself looking at the same issue you did when deciding who was the best. “If I don’t pick this starter type am I missing something or can I find a decent Pokémon of that type in the game”
