25 Things To Do After Finishing Pokémon Sword & Shield

- This video will go over 25 things you can do once you've completed Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield! The post-game is what you make of it, with a wealth of options including getting involved in competitive battling tournaments, shiny hunting, and more!
Pokémon Sword and Shield walkthrough playlist: • Pokémon Sword and Shie...
1. Complete the post-game story that sends you travelling back to each gym to take on a Pokémon that has Dynamaxed and collecting the gym leaders rare league cards, defeat Sordward and Shielbert in a series of battles, catch the legendary Pokémon Zacian or Zamazenta depending on what game you're playing, and defeat Hop in one last battle. The game hasn't finished until you see "The End" screen a second time.
2. Pick up Type Null as a gift from the Battle Tower for completing the game.
3. Go to Hop's house in your home town and go to Leon's room, and receive a Charmander that is capable of Gigantamaxing when it evolves.
4. Complete six battles in the Battle Tower, where you will unlock the ability to check your Pokémon's IVs once you defeat Leon for a second time. You will also receive his rare league card for doing this battle.
5. Battle Marnie at Spikemuth for her rare league card.
6. Talk to Oleana in the Galar Mine for Rose's rare league card!
7. Talk to the Ball Guy outside of Motostoke Stadium for his rare league card!
8. Talk to the man that sells daily bargains in Stow-on-Side to get a Beast Ball - and make sure you visit him every day to purchase an incredibly rare item, things like Protectors, Quick Claws, and many items capable of making a Pokémon evolve.
9. Defeat Game Freak Morimoto in a battle in the hotel to the left in Circhester, he will give you an Oval Charm if you defeat him in battle, making eggs appear much more commonly.
10. Pick up your Catch Charm from the person next door to Game Freak Morimoto.
11. Complete your Pokédex! Not only will this unlock one more special prize, it has been made easier in this game as you can capture Pokémon not available in your game by participating in online raids for said Pokémon.
12. Once you have completed the Pokédex, 400/400 Pokémon, head to the same hotel, talk to the same person, and he will give you a shiny charm, which increases the rates of shiny Pokémon appearing by three times!
13. Now you have the shiny charm, shiny hunt! Obtaining shinies is the most popular thing to do in the post-game in the Pokémon community, and are an incredibly rare commodity. Shiny hunt for your favourite Pokémon!
14. Participate in max raid battles. If you catch the Pokémon you battle in max raid battles, they will have a guarantee of at least two perfect IVs, and five star max raid battles will have a guarantee of four perfect IVs, meaning it's so easy to assemble a large roster of Pokémon to begin breeding competitive Pokémon. Ditto is easily available from Max Raid battles and it's a great way to obtain one with four or even five perfect IVs!
15. Start breeding competitive Pokémon! There are various resources online that will help you get started, I'll link to them in the description!
16. Obtain the evolution stones and rare candy that respawn every day in the wild area, it will give you a little routine of things to do day to day!
17. Speak to the digging duo and see how many items you can get in a single expedition! This is a great way to farm rare items like evolution stones and fossils!
18. Obtain the Lucky Egg from the restaurant in Hulbury by delivering food to the residents of Hulbury for the owner!
19. Reach the Max Rank in the Battle Tower, and obtain the Battle Tower uniform, this is incredibly easy to do using the rental teams from the guy located to the right of the building!
20. Rematch the Pokémon league, which is essentially the Elite Four, to take on gym leaders again from the story! This is a great way to farm money so you can EV train any competitive Pokémon you have bred, make sure to use the Amulet Coin!
21. Make sure to get the apricorn balls from the Ball Guy located in each stadium, this was available throughout the main story, these Pokéballs are incredibly rare and are a good collectors item!
22. The weather changes daily in the Wild Area, so see which of the rare Pokémon have spawned depending on the weather for the day!
23. Collect all the Gigantamax Pokémon, available exclusively in raids!
24. Get your Pokémon to level 100, by using the candy you'll have received from participating in raids! This will make raiding by yourself a million times easier!
25. Participate in online battles and the ranked tournaments that The Pokémon Company will be hosting online over the course of the next year!

So that's how you get more poke-toys? I was hoping you could just buy them.
@@clabo44 Yeah every time you make 5 new curries then you get a new Poke Toy to play with in your camp. Example the WATAMEL BERRY ball is the next one your receive after making the curries.
@@auqustfire I wish too. It is easy if you just use one berry per curry. Each ingredient has 5 different curry flavors. The only hard one to obtain is the Giagntimix Curry, which I have only been able to obtain as an ingredient from Raid battles from a Gigantimax Pokemon. Also there are extra ingredients that are only obtainable from "wild Pokemon that enter your camp while you are camping" just speak to them.

As omeone with currently 170+ hours of having played shield and 30+ of sword (just finished that version + 8h of pokedex farming) i basically hunt pokemon to complete my pokedex which takes ages but feels so good in the end, farmed money to get the max amount possible then spend it all on clothes and repeat until i bought all the clothes possible in the shop, bought the dlc and finished it (planning on completing the two pokedexes of it too if i can) which takes up some time too and is rlly cool, andd shiny hunting which im still doing cuz its taking so long, ive fought 620+ wooloos and still no shiny, tho i only got the chroma charm (s that what it is?) today so yeah! Ill update if i remember more
Update: its been a second since i commented this but i jist remembered that im trying to complete the currydex!! Im more than halfway through (completed 70+ different curries) but im struggling a little with getting the berries i need and getting bobs can (?) because its exclusive to sword and im completing it on shield. I do have sword but i cant trade with myself bc its on the same switch soo yeah if u have sword pls trade witj me hdjdk anyways ye

Astro Ant mines was an eevee but luckily I got him out before I hit the fairy type gym , and got him to evolve to sylveon:)

It was very easy, I beat it in 3 days with a powerful team... some of the interesting parts are just given to the “adults”. Very boring in some parts sadly

I always try to get a living Pokedex but have each form of each Pokemon at lvl 100. It takes forever but it's the most completionist thing I could think of.

I only get my main party to lvl 100 and then complthe dex and other things. For example, getting marnies rare league card cause I love her. Things like that.

What sad is 55% of what you can do post games has been taken out for some reason.
Guardian Ash 5 star raid mons have guaranteed 4 IVs and it’s to get BP to buy mints, bottle caps, etc

This game was short I actually cried when I beat it I wish there were more can't wait to get scarlet and violet and HOPEFULLY it will be long
This really helped me out been playing Pokémon all the way up too ultra sun and moon and once it came too this I had no idea what to do after completing the game but I do really miss the old games after soulsilver and heartgold it wasn’t the same for me much but once again thank you!

I love the graphics and colors in this game, but the story was too short and the plot wasn’t like SM or USM. The enemy was hardly an enemy due to how quick they were defeated unlike the problem with Either Paradise and Ultra Beasts
They also got rid of the really confusing and time consuming caves and they didn’t put a bad guy team in like team galactic or whatever
Super Greyflash the main story doesn’t really start until the second half of the game though
To quote a wandering NPC in Hammerlocke “The Champion’s Pokémon are looking good!”
XL Bane if you want more story go to the slumbering woods at the end for extra if you haven’t already.
I really like how its not a typical plot tho. Its like instead of taking on a big bad team, you're just trying to take on the challenge and solve the mystery of the Hero. It was a refresing light hearted mystery. I loveeeedd the characters. (If you harm Hop, bye😌) The Pokemon and gameplay was amzing. I actually really like dynamaxing because im pretty sure its a reference to how giants are tied with European lore.The Wild Area and Max Rye Raid Battles are suppers fun aswell. This game was fun.
First Attempt to beat Leon. I almost got at 30% HP at Dynamaxed. Then he wrecked every Pokémon I had.
Then Second Attempt I beat him since I analyzed all his Pokémon Move-set. And I thought Dragapult was a Both, Fire, Water, and grass type Pokémon.
So basically, If you ever lose, you basically learn greatly from your opponents.
Leon is one of the only challenging things in this game and this is not exactly a bad thing
I literally got a tyranitar with trash moves, kept reviving my dead pokemon and killed his dragupult with sandstorm
Lmao I went in there with a Lvl 100 Dragapult and swept him so hard it was almost amusing
I caught Suicune before registering for the league and just one shotted every Pokemon until I was the champ 🤷
i rememer doing a psychic type playthrough. i had such underleveld pokemon but using held items and revives i finished it in 11 tries
I was playing pokemon since red/blue . I have one thing to say yes it is short but we all imagine as a kids to play in the big screen and the graphics are gorgeous.You missed old days to lost in the caves ? I Forgot them when i saw pokemon walking in the tall grass and actually i can see them ! Also Big Big respect to the music and the sounds of this game incredible atmosphairic and based of the theme of each town / area. Loved the improvements with active box everywhere / camps !Even the interaction in the camp is fabulous.Big Big fan ! Thx you Gamefreak for the beautiful memories since i was 13 ! And i loved that this game has also numerous pokemon from gen 1 at the start ! I enjoyed it so much !

Gotta admit, I'm amazed you managed to find 25 things to do in the game once you've finished the main storyline.
I mean, only like 5 of them are actually post-game stuff, but still.
26. Spend 3 hours looking for Eevee on route 4 and then realize you play pokemon sword so there is only 1% chance to find one.
Looked online where to find them and seriously 1st pokemon I seen there. Getting another was a pain tho.

To be fair, the last battle is actually pretty difficult. All my Pokemon were about 10 levels above his with full competitive movesets and I still has a bit of trouble.

Number 27: Complete the pokedexes from the DLC.
Number 28: Catch all legendary pokemon in Dynamax adventures.
Before fighting Marnie, go to the Inn in Motostoke, enter a room beside the elevator.
You’ll get a cutscene with Marnie in it.
Doesn't have to be before fighting marnie, i got that cutscene well after fighting her several times

yeah in pokémon moon the third thing (it isn’t a gym but i forgot what it was) it was really hard so you had to train a bunch (it’s on the ds by the way)
I fully support the idea of more difficult pokemon games but making the players having to grind more isn't the way to go. How about level-capped gym battles, trainers with crazy weather or moveset strategies, powerful held items etc etc?

I love the League cards and customizing character part of the game
I haven’t started my Violet game because i wanted to build and enter the competitive scene before I do. Brilliant Diamond? Takes you forever to level up, get mints & obtain botte caps.
For the first time in 3 years I finished Pokémon shield and I cannot believe how they just hand you everything you need to build perfect Pokémon, wish I known it sooner lol which is great. I just need to hatch a shiny 5IV Espurr and I can start playing Pokémon Violet❤️
2:00 The catching charm is available as soon as you get access to Circhester city if anyone needs it ASAP. You do not need to be the champion to obtain it.
I was coming to make this comment. I just stumbled across it as soon as I got to Circhester. It's helped out a lot for getting my dex filled so far.
And the oval charm too, you don't need to be champion to get it, you just need to beat morimoto in a battle

@@noah6114 if i remember correctly, there are 2 hotels in circhester near a fountain, go to the hotel on left side of fountain, and then just check every room in the second floor. He is the guy dressed as a cop in a room filled with 3 npc

It's ez shinies at like a 1/400 rate compared to the usual thousands, and not to mention that if the shiny is a pokemon in the catch combo then the combo will still live on and the shiny will have around 4 perfect ivs

Another thing you can do is use different Pokémon in camp to see how they interact

My favorite post game activity is getting a bunch of shinies/rare Pokemon, then surprise trading them off before deleting my file and starting over. Its an awesome feeling knowing that you probably just made someone's day, and it gives you a reason to start over and have more fun.

Respect man... I haven't found a single shiny in years of playing. Recently I did get Pokerus, which is nice, but... a shiny is so much more likely, yet I couldn't find one if my life depended on it.
If I ever find a shiny, even if it's a Pokemon I don't really like, I'll treat it like an ancient relic.
I once got a surprise trade of a shiny perfect iv level one scorbunny named "happy new year!" On new years night And it was the most amazing feeling! I've been surprise trading shiny pokemon since and it gives me the same feeling :)

hey i have finished the game entirely and this video has given me some ideas however the gameplay time was about a night so pretty easy. a tactic i went with is when you have the same type of pokemon as your opponent just use that time to revive dead pokemon. be sure to use it!
Another thing:
Find an antique Polteagiest. There are fraudulent and antique different types; apparently one of mine was antique since it unlocked in the Pokedex
HomeByMidnight Uhh I think that's automatically unlocked for you? Mine was unlocked in the dex as well, but I checked and I don't think I've had a antique one
@@pinkiebroker7032 Just like shinies and genders, antiques are only registered into the dex when you obtain or encounter one (similar to if you haven't caught the species but have encountered it, the model alone unlocks). So chances are, you have encountered/currently have one. The only best way to check is Dynamaxing the Pokemon to be able to see the symbol under it. Or it may be possible to catch a glance in the camp.
I have heard that an NPC battles you with an authentic one at some point, which is probably enough to register it in the Pokedex.

@@TaliesinMyrddin That's true. An antique Sinistea can only be evolved with a "Chipped" Pot, not the more Cracked Pot. So if you didn't use that item to evolve your Polteagiest, then there was never a chance it could be Antique Form.

Here’s a great way to farm evolution stones: Lake of Outrage stone circle.
Don’t even bother with anything else, these are guaranteed.

Another thing is to use Zacian/Zamazenta or Eternus (however you spell it) in battle tower to create more of a challenge.
as someone who is trying to complete the dex i call bs on raids making completing the dex easier gts was a way better method even if it flawed and filled with trolls

Agreed they really dont help as much as people think. Spawns favor specific pokemon veeery heavily and theres a number of pokemon that cant even spawn in dens to begin with.
GTS was a mistake, it was a breeding ground for hacked pokemons. Letting hackers easily able to trade is a bad idea. It's like you're saying that you're letting drug dealers sell their drugs to children.

It's funny seeing people try to squeeze anything that they can consider as something to do to make it sound the game has way more content than it truly has. Really, these are some of the most anemic, lowest content games in the franchise and this franchise has had some games with really low content.

You're not missing much. The rosters for Raids fill up fast, so most of the time you'll try to join and the game won't let you. They should fix it so the announcement goes away once it's filled.
Do you mean the gigamax raids? You actually don't need online for those. Just click on the "don't add members" button and the game will provide you with NPC trainers as suport.

If you dont have the expansion pass.
You could store your pokemons in pokemon home and start a new progress with your pokemons that you stored in pokemon home and get eternatus and zamazenta/zacian again and trade for them for other legendary pokemons you dont have.
Applin can evolve into both forms in both games. The pie form is gotten by giving it a special type of apple and maybe leveling it up I think? I'm pretty sure you can find the apple on "axew's eye" island or whatever its called. its in the middle of the first lake in the main wild area.
The only reason I know this is because I got both evolutions before I got Pokémon shield and I had wondered what the item was for before I figured it out.
I mean, you could just say in one number, "Collect all rare league cards from the npc's", not enumerate them one by one just to stretch the video

I know a lot of people think the story is bad, but I personaly really liked it. The main strive fir our characters is to beat the gym challenge to fight against the champion. After so many games where the gym challenges where just kinda...useless it's really refreshing to have them feel important for once becouse all characters put so much pation into them. While our characters go on on there journey to become the champ you have this ongoing mystery in the back, slowly burning away. A mystery legend with overcovered details, snepids of conversations, earthquakes and weard happenings which let you know that there is something going on from which the main character doesn't know yet becouse the adulds for once don't rest the regions future on the backs of literal children for once. And when you finally prove yourselfe and hell breaks loose it's great to finally see the full picture, step up and defete the evil to be able to reach your original goal and become the champion afterwards.
It also feelt really nice that the MC wasn't stupidly overpowerd in the end to just easily destroy whatever legebdary-godlike-pokemon was the end boss. I myselfe had my Pokemons around level 60-63, which is pretty high compared to the gym leaders. But my MC would have stooden no chance against the big evil if the two legendarys didn't show up to help me and Hop out.
The characters where much more interesting for me as well. Hop especially for once is a rival whos name I can actually remember becouse his and the MC's relationship was just so natural, while it always feelt kinda forced in the older games. (Specificly talking about the games from Black and White to fourther in the past since I haven't played Sun and Moon and X and Y yet)
While some may say the game is shorter, I'm pretty sure the main reason for that is that you don't have to grind as much as you had to in earlier games. Leveling your team up is much easier here becouse they all get xp in battles AND when you catch a pokemon.
But that isn't bad in my opinion. It finally gives me the motivation to actually fill up that damn pokedex becouse I wasn't stuck leveling up to fight some useles top 4 for days.
So all in all, I love this game. From it's natural story to the great character, amazing lokations and sound drack, to it's graphics. Pokemon Shield has landed itselfe as my number one favorite pokemon game. (Beating Pokemon Black which I mainly loved becouse of N, abd Pokemon Saphir which I mainly loved for it's "have a secret house" mechanic becouse I just can't remember what the story was about)
That part is loved the actual story with the evil team wasnt the shows like evolution show it better

Beeeding for perfect Pokémon is easy now. You just need a perfect or great and it’s good to go. You can change nature with mints, and if you want you can hyper train.

It seems like you could swap the names, almost. Giganta implies giant, while “dyna” implies dynamic, so the interesting change could be dynamaxing and just large transformations could be gigantamaxing. I suppose they decided gigantamax sounded cooler, and therefore would be a better end form name...
Inteleon doesn't get bigger with Dynamax, he just elongates and gets taller lol

You know, I once found a shiny Litwick during the Fire Type gym challenge and I wasn’t expecting it so I was quite shocked. It was early on in the game as well.

probably you getting it confused because it's actually imposible for that to happen without hacking, stamina guy does give 1 at times but skill guy doesn't give more than ~14. Don't take my word for it though I haven't done it more than a few hundred times.

There is so many new areas and it's just amazing. I get on those games and just get amazed by the things they do in it. While S/S it's mostly disappointing. (Its not bad but it never takes the extra step to make me say that's so cool.)
One thing i liked from b2w2 was the change in difficulty right after I finished it I set it on challenging mode
