This is a weird recommendation but Arrokuda is a very good glass cannon. It evolves to a barraskewda at lvl 26 and by far one of my favorite gen 8 water types. A very high speed and attack but low others make this fish an amazing sweeper in the story. It gets: Throat chop, aqua jet, liquidation, ice fang, drill run and CLOSE COMBAT! And if you find a Swift swim Arrokuda, HOO BOY you'll outspeed everything once you have rain up.
GET NOIVERN It's the best. Also you can find noibat in the cave. Noibat evolves into noivern at lvl 48 It's worth grinding for, it has 123 speed as well
I've been using Arcanine this whole time! Base stat total of 555 and automatic extreme speed learned upon leveling up. Decent bulk and good attacking stats. Borderline legendary base stats 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I got Shield, and had a lvl 28 Arcanine when I got to the first gym. I used the move tutor to teach it Flamethrower, Extremespeed and Crunch. I did things in that grass gym that go against the Geneva Convention.
I got the charmander from one of those purple raid things and taught him flamethrower. Man he fucking ruined the grass gym but was my only good pokemon come the fire badge and that went down to the wire
@@onmas909 there's a little trick you can do that involves adjusting time and turning auto save off to cycle the raids with 1 wishing piece until you get charmander but I didn't have to do it as I got it first try with a wishing piece
Growlithe is also good to catch. Once you evolve it to arcenine he’s a beast. My arcenine (Lv. 72) can tank a hydropump from a lv. 78 Pokemon. For me a hydropump barely takes half his Hp. Arcenine can also learn really good moves, and with varied types as well. It can learn psychic, dark, fairy, dragon, fightin moves and so on.. I recommend getting a growlithe
@@Jessthemess18 a growlithe can be found in the very first portion of the Wild Area in sunny weather. Supe useful 'mon. I actually prefer them to vulpix
For anyone wondering, eevee's found in route 4, it's rare, of course, so it'll take quite the while. When you reach route nine (spoiler ahead) you get an upgrade for the bike you unlock which allows you to drive in water, in the Wild Area, there's an area only accessable by using the water bike in the most northwestern side of the wild area, there are big stones poking outta the ground, and at each one, there are each of the stones that help with eevee's evolutions. ALSO... Make sure you go there everyday, as some of the stones generate again, so you could get multiple stones each time and not just the first and only time you go there
Oh man that setup is such a killer. Especially once you get to corviknight and it can tank a few hits, setting up a couple of hone claws before sweeping teams always felt so good
Vanillite is hard to train mid-game, but pays off in the end. Of course, Ice is my favorite type, and I almost never turn one down. Crabonimable was the only one who was too unusable even for me. XD

Eevee can also be found relatively easily before the 1st gym and you can use the grass stone if you want Leafeon... if you don't have Grookey or Nuzleaf. Just be prepared to sit through a lot of Galarian Meowth's Yamper and Electrike appearing though which have a higher spawn rate.
Thank you so much for this information! I'm playing Shield, I picked Scorbunny as my starter, and none of the other Gen 8 grass types looked that appealing to me so I'll use Leafeon on my A team. I caught 2 Eevees this morning thanks to this tip.

For kicks I shoved my Grookey into a box and didn't look back having Wooloo with an Everstone as my partner Pokemon. Because it's cute. Also I wanted to see about trying a normal type. Pretty well rounded in defense. Also literally round. Lol. The rest of my team includes Sneasel, Toxtricity, Growlithe, Gyrados, and Ribombee. I recently cleared the third gym with my team around level 30. With minimal effort just by diligently trying to fill out my Pokedex it has been easy to stay 5+ levels above the gym Pokemon, making super effective moves 1-2 hit KOs for the most part. Though I literally scoured the entire wild area for two whole days the first time I got there to catch every Pokemon I could. It was a rough time but worked out.
Ended up with a team consisting of: Intelleon, Coalossal, Boltund, Mamoswine, Grimmsnarl, and Dragapult I would say Rolycoly is definitely one of the best early game pokemon.
I had a pretty solid team too! Rillaboom(grookey’s third evo) Corvaknight(rookidee’s third evo) Chandelure(litwick’s third evo, caught during the fire gym trial) Arctozolt(On route 6, fossil) Obstagoon(Galarian zigzagoon’s third) Dreadnaw(Chewtle’s evo, on route 2)
for time saving, the list of good Pokémon to catch early on consists of: Rookidee Blipbug Seedot Pancham Galarian Zigzagoon Rolycoly Electrike Vanillite Chewtle Vulpix these are two I would also recommend: Growlithe Eevee
Best: Vanillite. I still have it on my team. Ice types are super useful in this game, and I think it's really cute. Worst: Seedot. I had it on my team for a bit, but as my roster grew it was one of the first to get... Cut.
I would pick Yamper over electrike because it evolves at 25 into boltund and boltund covers so many types. It can learn all of the elemental fang moves, dig, play rough, and crunch. Even though it doesn't have the highest overall stats it is an insane physical sweeper.
I used Pumpkaboo from almost the very start :D and it's the first pokemon to reach level 100. I just find using it with Leech Seed the best way to catch pokemon for the Pokedex and it was one of the Pokemons I never switched out from my team.
I think Vulpix is a pretty good initial pokemon to have especially if you chose a water type starter, they level up pretty easy too. I despise having a Chewtle on my team, and would much rather wait until I've completed a bit of the game to be able to catch a Drednaw without the hassle of having a Chewtle.
We just not gonna talk about the ninjask you can catch in the wild area literally in the beginning of the game? One of the best bug types to have. It’s ability allows it to gain speed every turn AND it can learn dig. One of the best bug Pokemon ever made by gamefreak. The BEST reason to catch ninjask is to breed it and get a nincada egg and evolve it into shedinja. Shedinja is immune to every move that isn’t super effective and is a ghost and bug type, making it one of the hardest Pokémon to counter. Good video otherwise, but seriously missed opportunity to talk about ninjask.
The fact boltund automatically gets a boost to bite and crunch is pretty badass. Especially since you can supplement him with a magnet you can find early on as well. So what is Boltund good at? Fucking everything.
Him: “Top 10 early game Pokemon to catch in Sword and Shield” Me: *Laughs in over-lvled Inteleon oneshotting everything* Edit: Im kinda a madlad in over keveling pokemon so I managed to get inteleon before the 2nd gym.
Glaceon is absolutely great. I got it before the first gym by getting an Ice Stone from the Digging Duo and then catching an Eevee in Route 4. I taught it Hail and gave it an Icy Rock, and it basically carried me through the last gym by spamming Ice-Type moves and replacing the sandstorm with hail.
Not to mention, Obstagoon can learn Ice Beam. Which is pretty neat. Also it’s a Vulpix for Sword whereas Growlithe is the must have for Shield because they swap places. Lastly, this is the first Pokémon game where I actually have a 9 Pokémon team rotation that may grow to 10. I currently have Rillaboom, Ostagoon, Ninetales, Gyrados, Togetic, Corviknight, Raichu, Noibat, and Espeon....all before my fourth badge. This game is awesome
If I'm going to be able to catch any of them, I first need to catch a Nintendo switch!

As someone who started playing in gen 3 training any form of zigzagoon was weird for me but obstagoon was well worth it
Best: Pancham
Worst: I'm s c a r e d o f t u r t l e s

This vid helped me out so much and I’m
Going to get all these Pokémon when I hopefully get the game for Christmas
As someone who picked Grookey, I must say, catching Chewtle and Vulpix early on was VERY helpful
I m using seismitoad and he is great
I used Pumpkaboo from almost the very start :D and it's the first pokemon to reach level 100. I just find using it with Leech Seed the best way to catch pokemon for the Pokedex and it was one of the Pokemons I never switched out from my team.
Best: Zigzagoon Worst: electrike
5:20 you also need a dark type in your party to evolve it.
You can pick up an Eevee or Pikachu at the train station to Monostoke, but you must have a save file on your switch of Let's Go Eevee or Pikachu.
In through and my team consisted of:
Corviknight
Grookey Evo
Drednaw
Dragapult
Toxtricity
Centiscorch
This dude will jump on any bandwagon he can smh
houseeater56 what ever helps the bills
Lol doesn’t everyone? , you’re here right ? People cant play other games ? Lol gtfo .

@@Heavytripss no, everyone doesn't
i love catching and using gen 1 pokémon. it’s the childhood in me. i prefer them so much more.

Yeah the new ones r meh im all about the OG 151
Best: Rookidie
Worst: well, I don’t have 1 I love the whole dex but if I have to pick one.... Vanilite
Axew... he didn't even count axew, you can find him in the wild area and route six
Conpletly agree
I’ll use yamper for my electric
Yo Duck I prefer Toxel
boltund is awesome
My boltund can tank everything
It’s a beast!!
Boltund is OP
The fact boltund automatically gets a boost to bite and crunch is pretty badass. Especially since you can supplement him with a magnet you can find early on as well. So what is Boltund good at? Fucking everything.
Best Pokèmon: Shifty
Worst Pokèmon: Eletrike
One of the strongest on my current team wasn’t on the list. My mudbray has been a dominating force lol
Mine beat gigantimax Gengar by itself. That thing kicks booty
bastian xd yeah I keep him at the front of my party because most Pokemon I battle seem to be weak to all his moves lol
Mudbray lowkey In fully evolved form I love it can become a tank with every attack it receives also high attack
Best Pokeman: Rookidee
Worst Pokeman Seedot (my Opinion)
Him: “Top 10 early game Pokemon to catch in Sword and Shield”
Me: *Laughs in over-lvled Inteleon oneshotting everything*
Edit: Im kinda a madlad in over keveling pokemon so I managed to get inteleon before the 2nd gym.
Note:
You can catch corviknight In the wild area
You will be too low level to catch it in the early game though
You needed magikarp and growlith to tie in on top spot
I can't remember if growlithe was an exclusive but you can have an arcanine at the same time too...
I was so happy when I found growlith cus hes one of my favorite pokemon
10. Rookidie
9. Flipbug
8. Seedot
7. Pancham
6. Galarian Zigzagoon
5. Rolycoly
4. Electrike
3. Vanilite
2. Chewtie
1. Vulpix
0:55 How can we make a list of BEST & WORST without actually playing the game!

Best: Ninetales cause I'm biased. Worst: definitely the ice cream
Best: Every one, I love all pokemon.
Worst: None, they’re all amazing.
Jynx is fucking stupid
Vanilite is more fucking stupid than jynx.
ZidaneOfTantalus nahhh jynx is worst
I despise Patrat. Deep burning hatred.
Where is the digging Duo??
@@nunguninja near the locked daycare in the wild area
@@evagarcia865 great thank you
I caught oddish early and spent time evolving to Vileplume. Such a beast now
Reznor440 I just found a vileplume and caught it
@@briannahom9714 one of my best Pokemon atm. Where did you catch one? I'm only up to the second gym
Best: ninetails
Worst: skwovet
Bruuuuhhh he didn't even say Skovet he said...and I Quote..."Not Skovet he's NO good"
