There's not a lot on this subject in UA-cam, the Heritage Men's Style, so here I am starting it for us so we can discuss it.
Many men's styles are focused on current trends but I found myself going back to this heritage style over and over again. If you are finding yourself coming back to this heritage way of style then embrace it and let's do it right together.
This channel is about boosting men's confidence, especially men in their forties or later. It also applies to any men, I mean real MEN that aren't afraid to wear what they want!
Heritage Style for men and this one is focused on my love of jeans/denim shirts as a versatile item of clothing.
Please support and subscribe. If you are willing to go further and fund my heritage clothing adventure, please email me at chris.thomas.stone@gmail.com.

I agree with you. I miss seeing us as men dressed up. Everyone has their own style. But being raised at a time where I saw my Dad wearing a suit to work, or even casually dressed - still in leather shoes, pants with a belt. So don’t apologize for what you see and want to point out. I’m with you on the heritage thing and will continue wearing my style and dressing like I do. And yes there will always be a pair of Red Wing boots (several) in my wardrobe. Keep on making the videos.

As a man in his late 40s. I take pride in my appearance. Unbeknownst to me, I’ve been rocking the heritage style for quite some time. I just didn’t know there was a term for it. This style is comfortable and classy. I’ve become a man that cares about his cigars, whiskey, heritage style and good company. Aloha!! Keep them videos coming.

No apologies needed. I agree with you 100%. I'm always amused when I travel. First, I love seeing another country, state, city or community. Listening to a new accent or language, sampling the local fare and feeling a different vibe. The downsides can include the stress of being crowded on a plane, dealing with a cranky fellow passenger, delayed flights, etc. Fortunately for me, I've been a Yoga practitioner for ~30 years, and it does help me to navigate in situations that used to bother me when I was a headstrong young adult. I laughed about your observations of crocs and sweatpants. I sometimes feel that I'm watching a "shoppers of Wal-Mart" video when I see some of my fellow travelers. I don't expect folks to dress to a certain standard, but I do appreciate when they shower, wear clean clothing and make sure their breath is fresh. Anyone, can carry a comb and toothbrush on the plane. It really is all about self respect and respect for others.

Thanks Mark and you put my thoughts to written words really well. I've had to stare down out of control kids behind me when the parents just allow them to treat my seat as a punching bag. I traveled a lot while I was on active duty but have since slowed down a lot. I do plan to travel more in the next year or so now that the pandemic is no longer a huge deal. I still am annoyed by the TSA agents however and maybe I'll take on some Yoga too to help with my emotions haha.

I tried (and succeeded) to make my own “heritage” boots for wear in uniform. Took a pair of Corcoran Tanker boots, cut off all the straps, added coyote brown eyelets, and laced them up. Pretty much a coyote brown jump boot. Looked good and got plenty of…comments lol mostly good ones tho

I worked as a carpenter for years before it was suggested I buy Red Wing boots which I did and loved them. They became my best friend. I didn’t know about selvedge denim back then. I just wore Levi’s or whatever. I then switched to a IT career and hardly wore my boots as they were torn up anyways. In IT, I wore dockers, polos and crappy office shoes. When the pandemic hit and I started to work from home, I started thinking back to my Red Wing boots and how much I’d like to get another pair. I bought some 1907s and still wear them. On top of that, I enjoy selvedge jeans like Bravestar or Origin Maine jeans really is my preference. American-made is what I support.

Wow Josh! Thanks for sharing. Me too, I didn't really discover my style now not until my mid to late 40s. Prior to that I was lost. I've always wanted this style but I was too cheap at the time and not really thinking about the longevity of such goods as selvedge and heritage boots.
Congrats on the 1907 as your staple! As you know from my vids that it is also my staple and I beat that thing up like no other. It is comfortable for sure. We have the same taste because I also have the 877 and 8085 (other version of the 8111).... Keep up the heritage style!!

This is a great vid Bruddah…
When I fly back to Kauai family heritage from mainland home I often show up at the airport wearing a certain style of clothes to reflect my family’s history.
“Checkered” palaka shirt symbolizes my family’s early years toiling in the pineapple plantations.
Full-cut, heavy & sturdy khaki pants (Bill’s Khakis) represents my father service at NAS Kaneohe as an engineer during WW2.

You know, I was so excited when I found that Levi’s type 1, LVC at the flea market. I was over the moon! I got the same feeling when I bought my first pistol. On the way home my brother asked me if any of my friends knew what I was wearing. (The selvedge jeans, the old school work boots, the bandannas, etc. ) I said, no. Not really. But I’m ok with that because of the way I feel putting this stuff on. As to the airport, and public spaces in general, I think that most people put little to no thought into what they wear on a daily basis. Just basic. But as I grow older and get more into the heritage wear and history of this style, I’m more and more thankful that there are a handful of guys like you making cool, informative videos out there. Because, I’d probably still be wearing “casual Friday” garb. Mahalo, my friend.

Love the content brother! I've only seen heritage / workwear style up in the SF Bay Area or the Pacific Northwest. When I was in my late 20's I've always admire the look of older men who had these amazing looking denim outfits, you can tell they've curated their clothing over the years. Once I got into my 40's I wanted to mimic that style but didn't really know where to start. I could have gone the route and wear business casual look all the time, for both work and leisure. But that lacks imagination and personal style. Now I'm curious to put together a look that's heritage but can be worn for dinner occasions when out with friends.

Such a refreshing talk you are. Heritage is great clothing with function in mind. It has sense and was used both for effectiveness and style. These days many items are an imitation of classics but made only with 'Look' in mind. No functionality or comfort - except some new materials which are mainly artificial.
Great podcast my friend. Great talk and great Style!t

Aloha, I recently came upon ur vlogs while looking for RedWing Moc toe boot care. I get where ur comin from with regards to lifestyle. I especially gravitate towards the heritage look. I'm an older retired guy now living in the Philippines after being in Cali almost all of my life. What really got me curious about ur channel was because I had thought about wearing my RedWing 1907s again but was wondering how that would work out in a hot tropical environment. Then I noticed this dude (you) wearing 1907s and I noticed Hawaii right away. I've been watching ever since then (Only 2 days ago). Anyways, just wanted to intro myself. Gonna keep watching from now on. Enjoy the style u project and the tropical paradise of Hawaii. Mahalo.

Aloha and I apologize for the late reply. I took some time off of YT and social media. Yes, I wear my 1907 (as well as other boots) all throughout the year in Hawaii. I work in the garage all day and wearing jeans and boots help protect my legs from burns and cuts. It is especially helpful when I grind and weld metal which is almost a daily thing. I also ride a Harley, almost daily, to go to the store or meet with friends.
In addition to my lifestyle, I am also a veteran and have worn full gear in the middle of the heat of the desert and jungles so I am used to it. Embrace the suck as we say and things become easier.
No kidding though, you just have to rock it and never mind what others think of it. I do wear shorts, slippers, and T-shirts also on weekends and especially if I'm going to the beach. I also wear a pair of swimming trunks inside my pants whenever I'm out with my bike because sometimes I go for a swim just because.....
I grew up in the Philippines (Subic Bay) from age 7 to 17. My father was in the military and stationed over there. I was born in Travis AFB, Vallejo so we are kind of the same but opposite haha...

I live in the DC metro area and it’s rare to find another man wearing “heritage” clothing/shoes. On your other point, idk how old you are (I’ve only watched 2 of your vids) but I’m guessing about the same age as I am. When we were younger, people still “dressed up” to go traveling by plane. Now it’s like people don’t care anymore…shorts, sneakers, flip flops, sweat pants, pajamas, etc. Women used to dress classy, now it’s trashy. Back in the day, no one got kicked off flights for how they dressed. Now it’s common. I won’t even get into people’s behaviors like they owned the planes because they paid 200 bucks for a flight.

Nice to hear your observations are similar to mine. I often get heat from men accusing me of behaving like a snob because I dislike wearing sleepwear or lounge wear in the streets. To each his own. I wish men would put more effort on themselves rather than being comfortable with complacency.

@@StylishGreaseMonkey me too almost every time I bring up the discussions, I got "not everyone is style enthusiast like you" or "not everyone is as affluent to shop often" blah2, while we know that's not the case, i.e doesn't have to be fancy but it starts with good fit.

Not as big as I want it to. Here, there are men that do not own pants because there really is not a need for them. Heck, I even see motorcyclists on shorts and t-shirts! There are very few of us that rock selvedge jeans and heritage boots...

Well I have to disagree with you. I’m 47 and I wear my heritage 8111, 8085 or 1907 with khakis to work all week and the last thing I’m going to wear is a pair of boots on my day off or weekends. If I’m going to the airport you’ll def see me on my light weight Nike pants and a fresh pair of Retro Jordans. I grew up watching MJ play and i collect Jordans but just because I wear Jordans doesn’t mean my style is not the correct one for some people. I also own 11pairs of heritage red wings and 2 pairs of Nicks (real man boots) & Grand Stone.

I have no issues with Jordan’s and some lightweight pants. My dislike is towards what seems to be what the majority of old men having to wear what they ought to just wear in the privacy of their properties.
I like your daily work clothes brother! Keep on taking care of yourself the way you feel like! Thanks!

People can say the same thing about you. Who tucks the front of their shirt in when they have a belly like that. 10:59. No hating but who cares and just be yourself

Ouch man but you know IDGAF ! I’m absolutely not pretending to be the model of fitness on my own channel. Heritage style is not about that at all but hey like you said to each his own right?
I hope all the men with “bellies” sees my point. In all of this. Beer, cigars, and food….fkn love “em!

I recently went to the eye doctor, and saw this younger dude wearing a sleeveless shirt with holes in it and pajama pants. For real dude? These young bucks dont care how they look. Dude looked like he just rolled out of bed. Make an effort. It's absurd now.

I agree wholeheartedly! I guess the young guns depend solely on their vitality. Mature men have a balanced outlook in life including caring for themselves. Thanks for your comment!

So by your standards, everyone should be wearing a look that is out of most people’s financial reach, and that arguably peaked fifteen years ago? Okay.

I'm not preaching anything to anyone. This is pure entertainment and you do what you have to do to make yourself happy. I do what I do on my channel and it is up to my viewers to like it or not. Doesn't hurt my feelings at all. Thanks for watching and being here though!
