One thing I find indispensable is a small folding knife. In fact I carry two - one for personal grooming ( the tiny Victorinox) and a small Case folder for opening packages.
John Molloy’s book was the bible for the basics. I also had Alan Flusser’s Style and the Man. Nothing close to being a dandy with those guys. Straight advice for corporate situations, exactly what I lacked. 40 years later, it is hard to remember how little info men had on the fundamentals. My “college” was a service academy (US version of Dartmouth) and then six years as a naval officer. I knew corporations had their “uniform” and needed help to understand it.
Happy Birthday and all the best wishes! Another great video in your channel, really enjoyed watching your EDC update! Best regards and have a great weekend!
Hi Ash. Your costing me money.. I bought the Entourage 7 vintage amber sunglasses and LOVE them. Also bought the Pilot metropolitan pen. Love your channel, keep it going!! Stay Chap, Mark in Knoxville Tennessee USA
Hello Ash, I’m heavily into the EDC game myself. I like to match my EDC items and I got different items in a rotation. Like my watches, pens, wallets and so on. A very important item for me personally is a gentleman’s pocketknife. I carry pocketknives since I was twelve years old as an EDC item. And for a couple of years now I’m collecting mostly small and compact gentleman’s pocketknives. To carry a cutting tool is quite handy and I used my knives a few times every day. Opening letters, cutting boxes or some fruits. There are so many tasks a blade can do. Best regards, Claus
Great video Ash. Would agree with others here. Clasp knife would be paramount. NCIS TV shoe Gibb's rule#9 never go anywhere without a knife. Cheers Ron
I do carry a pocket knife, but unfortunately my employer has asked that I am not seen promoting the carrying of knives in my YT channel. Ridiculous I know, especially as my EDC knife is a small Swiss Army model which is 100% legal in every aspect, but while I remain in my present employ, I must observe their request.
Great video, as always Ash. These may be a bit too American, but I think that for your military look, a pair of Randolph Aviators as an alternative sunglasses choice, would be great. I got a pair recently from a pilot shop here in the UK and am seriously impressed with them.

Same here - although I have recently started to carry a Leatherman, mainly because it was a gift from my wife, but with the advantage that it has no blade.
My goto pens for the last 15 years, a Kaweco ball point pen and a Sheaffer Imperial IV Touchdown Fountain Pen (Easily over 20 years). I'm glad you are getting the message out regarding Kaweco, I have a steel, gun mental grey version, a great product.
The moment I saw the turquoise notebook, I was like, ah! Thats a Montblanc 😄Coincidentally, Montblanc paper is made for fountain pen ink, so you hit the jack pot. Anyways, fun video!
I’m 52 in may myself , love your channel, weird I have an iPhone 12 in blue aswell , I also use reuzel shaving products that I see you recently bought 👌
That was another very interesting video, Ash. In terms of other or alternative items for your EDC, I’d suggest that you consider a Davek Solo umbrella at some stage. They really are the Rolls Royce of umbrellas, and are amazingly sturdy in the worst of weathers.
I like the sunglasses. Here in Australia good sunglasses are a must and I have multiples of them. My current for good wear are Ray Ban Clubmaster Black marble polarised, a modern version of the classic Clubmaster. I'm a new subscriber and enjoying the channel. Cheers.
I suggest giving some thought to the Bullet by Fisher Space Pen for your second writing instrument. I have carried one in my front left pocket for the past 15 years or so.
Good video (and Happy Birthday). The thing in my everyday carry that is a real nuisance is the key ring. It doesn’t sit well in a trouser pocket and gets in the way wherever I put it. Ok so I have house keys, car key and keys for the allotment gates on mine, plus the Baby Swiss Army knife, so it’s in no way minimalist, but even when it’s just the two house keys it’s a pain. Any tips for getting round this? Hiring a servant to open the door whenever I return home is sadly beyond my finances!
I find I tend to use my car to travel to most locations, so I keep most of my required keys in the car and then I only have to carry the car key around with me. Cuts down on pocket litter and keeps the slacks looking sleek.
Howdy from a first time viewer in Texas. I really enjoyed your information and presentation. I know things are different all over the world and people in different parts carry different things. Sometimes because of needs and sometimes because of laws. Do you ever (are you allowed to) carry a pocket knife, small multi tool or just small tools (like a screwdriver and small pliers) with you or in your bag? What about a small flashlight? I prefer a small USB rechargeable, but also keep a little larger & brighter battery powered one in my bag.

Although I carry more stuff than I used to (no glasses yet at 59), I don't think I need to carry a hold all yet. I was thinking of a small men's leather satchel type bag. I'm not sure if this would be a bit hipster for the Chap look and wouldn't want to deform a jacket. Has anyone out there taken this route?
Goodmorning Ash. I really enjoy EDC videos. I’m also very specific in the things I carry everyday. The last time you did an EDC update you showed a pocket knife. Do you still carry the Pioneer Solo, or something else, or have abandoned the pocket knife entirely?

I would say that it depends on your habitual style. If you favour streetwear and millennial clothing it would be an appropriate option. If you dress in a more traditional manner, perhaps a casual briefcase or leather valise would offer a more age appropriate route. But remember, there are no wrong answers - wear what you like and what fits with your own life circumstances.

Ash, I think you can find the history of your Kaweco pen rather interesting. It was invented before the Great War (WWI) for German military personnel. Most of the pens were confiscated in 1917 because they were made of brass, needed for shells, so they are pretty rare. The contemporary ones are almost the exact copies of the original, the differences are minor. Greetings from Poland!
Hi Ash, That bag seems to be the male equivalent of a woman’s handbag, but no woman would carry a bag that large and heavy around with her everyday. Women carry bags which are generally unobtrusive, yet are attractive accessories. It must be very tiring carrying that much weight around everyday, also would it not give rise to comment to carry a bag that large? I would guess you probably leave the bag in your car, and don’t actually carry it around.
