Great video. In 1994 just out of my apprenticeship I bought my first pair of Red wings, the "double boot". THE BEST waterproof work boot EVER, fight me. I can't find any mention of it anywhere on the interwebs. It was 2.... yes 2 layers of leather, insulated, 8" NO stupid speed hooks, I believe the first boots with their super sole, and they were oro rustit red. Things were a beast working construction in Massachusetts in the winter! Had them re soled and then they stopped making them. Had various pairs of Red Wings over the yearsone of them an 875, then kind of drifted over to Danner. Bought a pair of 8875's last week for causual cold weather days here this winter. They're the same red as the double boot, or as close to my memory as possible Thank you for the video
My man you're inspiring me with your outfits, especially where I come from in South Africa quality clothes are expensive and unemployment is high-I'm also an unemployed guy who likes vintage clothes, but I try my best to wear quality and unique styles like yours-Thank you for sharing-I'll be watching
Alright brother, thank you so much! I’m holding on to my heritage clothing that I bought a while ago. I’m not working right now myself so yes no new things for awhile. I wish you luck!!
I have both the 1907s and 875s. I love ‘em both. Like u, my 1907s are my beast shoes. The harder u beat them, the better the look and feel. Keep up the cool vids You should start doing cigar review as well.
Great review. when I was in America i bought my first pair of iron rangers copper rough and tough 2 years ago and was blown away by how they have improved with age. I'm going to purchase a pair of moc toes but I can't decide between the brown and the black. because of your videos and posts I've also got into bravestar selvedge jeans... which colour moc toes would you recommend? I haven't seen any reviews for the black leather. unfortunately there are no redwing stores in ireland. really love your passion for heritage clothing...I'm hooked!!!
Hey thanks Vince! The only black Moc Toe I’ve seen are from Thorogood and someone customized it to be all black. Pretty badass in my opinion. As you know I love the 875 Ref Wing and you can’t go wrong with it! I love UA-cam for allowing my vids to be shared worldwide. I love the classics and I know many do too!
@Stylish Grease Monkey an item of clothing that is common here in ireland is the flat cap. a good quality pig skin or 100% Cotton or tweed is something that has been handed down from one generation to the next. it really fits with the heritage style. have a look at "peaky blinders" as an example of what I'm talking about. redwings/ selvedge/ peacoat/ flat cap is a cool ageless look. prob not suitable to the weather in Hawaii..... I treasure my one from from grandfather...
@@vincecrean3139 Oh wow, that is so cool! I’m of Irish heritage myself with my grandfather being Irish. I grew up in an island and my mother is Filipino so I never did practice my Irish heritage. I love the look you described definitely and if I do travel to a cold weather place that I would definitely rock that look.
Hi sir, i remember you also have iron ranger 8085, i have IR 8111 size 8.5 D, im planning to buy the moctoe 875. Should i order the same size with my IR? Tia!
I’ve yet to research the significance of having white soles for this type of work boots but I am pretty confident based on facts that it has to do with versatility and safety. Versatility in a sense that most workers can transition from office to the work site and home without changing. Also it is a choice for many because of its style and comfort. It’s also required by most industry to wear a wedge sole while working for it lessened the risk of injury. As far as why it’s white, the only thing I can think of is that it reflects heat and keeps the inside cooler. I’ve gotten my 1907 really dirty before and I find it easy to clean to bring it back to white.
If you like RWs you should check out Nicks handmade boots. One of the PNW boot makers. They’re more expensive but they’re built like a tank and last forever. They still have boots out there from the 60s still walking around in the wild.

Love those moc toe boots, and really dig that well worn pair. Now that is a journey!
I love it Mark and thanks!
the reason i like beat up boots is the same reason i like vintage guitars. they've got stories written all over em.

Nice! Lucky you!!
the cigar makes the video. ty for the review. i was debating between these and the 10875 and i got the 875's
I prefer the 6 inch Moc also. Very nice!!
I love the old worn-out boots. I'm still rocking out a 23-year-old pair of Doc martins I have.

greetings from one red wing fan boy to another ....lol
Aloha!!
Clicked for the boots, stayed for the wheels, subbed to see more 👍
why do they use white colored outsole? I think black is better to hide any dirt.
