that’s quite cool, we’re entering an era where baskets can be picked for the desired flavor profile extract to honor the bean terroir / roast sensory profile, or tame the shot for personal preference, etc. awesome video as usual btw!
@@mycoffeeshow111 man how have things changed over for both pour over and espresso for the home user over the last 10 yrs...day and night difference in all the (much better) tools and toys we have at our disposal.
Ordered a couple old/new versions of these, was pleasantly surprised by the sturdiness of them, even managed to get good shots, with a new bag of beans, without too much of a hassle. Definitely need to use wider cups, due to the "coffee rain", not a big issue. Two small things to note - they came super flat bottomed out of the box, but they bent a little, after the first use (although, based on what I've seen in videos, even Wafo and Weber baskets bend permanently). Other thing is that its quite a tight fit into my MaraX, (or assuming in any e61 grouphead). Not sure if its my IMS nanotech shower screen or the silicone gasket, that's making it harder to lock in, but otherwise, I'm looking forward to my morning ethiopian coffees from these baskets!
@@mycoffeeshow111 Out of the three I bought (galaksio, koncentra, spiralo), the spiralo might be my winner. (it's the wafo spirit clone i beleive) Very high flow, while the other two are similar or maybe even more restrictive than my IMS nanotech. But I've only tried two beans so far, let's see how they fare.
I've tried a couple of high extraction baskets but they don't seem to play well with my preference for traditional, dark roast espresso. I'll just stick my trusty, old VST basket. 👍
always enjoy your videos .......any upcoming reviews of the Timemore 078 (non S version) and their new S3 manual grinder? lots of praise (esp from lance hendricks) on the 078 (his 3rd favourite filter grinder after the EKG43 and EG1) but others (coffee chronicler's recent 1 yr update) feels it is better suited for lighter roasts...on the new S3 manual grinder it's supposed to offer good bang for the buck for being a good all rounder (but not for espresso: can't grind fine enough despite saying it can)
