6:44 if you go back to the episode restless at the end of season 4 you'll see that there was a huge clue to this episode or possibly it was the inspiration. "Spikes like a son to me!" Slayer dreams are prophetic.
Even the same terrible suit. Though it was Xander's slayer dream.

I've seen this episode several times, but I've never frozen it on the shot of the Scoobies screaming at vampires. Totally worth it!

Its the fact that there's only 8 years between Anthony Stewart Head and James Marsters that's hilarious to me, I hope Tony was a bit miffed at this 🤣🤣🤣

After the last episode, there was no way that this one was going to top it. That being said, this episode works really well as a follow up to Once More, With Feeling.
One of my favorite episodes. It would have been easy to disappoint after OMWF but this episode is great. Tara was violated and she 1000% was justified in feeling the way she did at the end. Such a sad ending to one of the funniest episodes. Buffy does so well at the mood swap.
"I don't think this is going to work." Heartbreaking every single time.
Debt collecting. He's a shark. A loan shark. God, I only just got that nearly 20 years after seeing this for the frist time.
One of my favorite episodes, and it was a good strong follow-up after the musical!
How can you follow up Once More With Feeling? By deconstructing every relationship into a jumble. Love to see you laugh at this mostly funny episode. But then, the reality, and the Truth of the terrible things that came out last episode make for a bittersweet ending. Giles traveling alone, Tara packing her things, Willow filled with guilt. And Buffy and Spike happily smooching it up at the Bronze. What's not to like? Great reaction, my friend.

Never seen that freeze frame before with the scoobies screaming watched this episode many times but that picture I can not look at it and not laugh I look away then look back and I crack up Giles and Spike too funny
I love how much you love all of these characters. The best reaction videos are from people who fall in love with the things all of us fell in love with.

It's funny and inconsistent, but I find it really interesting to note which things do and don't survive the memory erasing spell:
Do:
General knowledge of the world.
Xander's low self-esteem.
Buffy's slayer instinct, fighting ability, and protectiveness towards Dawn.
Willow and Tara's sexual orientation and attraction.
Most personality traits.
Accents and some cultural biases.
Don't:
Personal memories.
Knowledge of the supernatural.
Giles and Spike don't know that they're British, and seem to assume they're American by default (this makes the least sense of anything in the episode).
Spike's bloodthirstines. My explanation is that the demon part of a vampire instinctively knows what it is, and pushes their human mind to feed as soon as they are made, but Spike's demon lost its memory and is just as confused as the humans, allowing his human side to be in control. (Could be a way to stop some vampires from being a threat without killing them? 🤔)
Combined with a certain episode of Angel, this can add up to a lot of interesting ideas about magic and memory. Both episodes are funny at first but then have serious consequences.

if u go back to “anne”, the season 3 premiere, buffy meets a girl and at the end gives her buffys fake name “anne”. that girls real name was joan! so buffy gave joan her name, and now buffy took her name. definitely intentional, knowing joss.

I don't think so. She went by Chanterelle in "Lie to me" and then Lily in "Anne," but I don't think we ever find out her real name.
No, Buffy saying "I feel like a 'Joan'" was in reference to Joan of Arc. Joss said as much during an interview. Lily/Chanterelle was in the entire episode of 'Anne', not just the end.
I love this episode so much
You probably caught it on edit, but the spell went wrong because of that spark that went flying into the bag of extra flowers (that Willow is a moron for leaving there even if the spell worked, since that's how Tara figured it out before).
