Rhaenys has Targaryen as well as Baratheon lineage. If you look at both of those houses motto: "Fire and Blood" and " Ours is the Fury" it tells you all you need to know about how she wouldn't retreat, its not in her nature/blood to do so. A true dragon rider; through and through! To Rhaenys and Meleys, two real ones!!
All present Targaryen dragons Rhaenyra - Syrax Daemon - Caraxes Rhaenys - Meleys Jacaerys - Vermax Lucerys - Arrax Baela - Moondancer Joffrey - Tyraxes Aegon - Stormcloud Unclaimed: Seasmoke Vermithor Silverwing Grey Ghost Cannibal (Sheepstealer - depends on if this dragon has been cut) Aegon II - Sunfyre Aemond - Vhagar Helaena - Dreamfyre Daeron - Tessarion Idk if they will be cut but… Jaehaerys and Jaehaera had little Shrykos and Morghul
Aegon's a douchebag but you gotta remember he didn't want to be King and sees he is now a puppet. He told Aemond he would make a bad king and to let him run away, but Aemond forced him to go to the coronation. He told Alicent he didn't believe Viserys changed his mind about Rhaenyra and asked Alicent if she loved him because he thought she was just using him, and not only did Otto confirm his belief Viserys didn't name him heir, now Aemond and Alicent are both telling him to stfu and keeping him in the dark. All of his fears and doubts are coming true, of course he'd try and prove himself.
Yeah. There are only a few times I've seen Aegon truly happy. One was when he was crowned king and the people cheered him, the second when he was seeing his son in the Small Council(who he included to be different from Viserys, who had chosen his heir and never kept Aegon around)and the last was when he saw Sunfyre. Alicent couldn't even tell him she loved him when he asked and he said that Viserys never changed his succession because he didn't like him. He most likely believed his father never truly loved him, because Rhaenyra had all his love.
The reason Vhagar is able to surprise attack so well, is because She has been fighting for 170+ years. Shes fought next to The OG Aegon the Conquer. Vhager fought and survived basically theCivil War, World War 1 & 2, the Korean War, with the Campaign in Dorne being Vietnam lol. She got tricks for generation lol.
Yeah, people misjudge her thinking she’s just a lumbering big old beast. But she rode with the best of the best and has more combat experience and tactical training than all the other dragons combined. And Shipwrecker Bay proved she doesn’t need her rider’s input to get a job done. She’s something else.
I kinda see what Rhaenys may have been trying to do. She just took out Aegon, so all they have left is Aemond. Take out Aemond and that stops the greens in their tracks. All they would have is Halaena and her daughter but they couldn't go up against the Blacks with just Dreamfyre. So Rhaenys took the slim chance to take out or injure Vhagar, possibly reminded how she didn't do it at the dragon pit before. What makesnit sadder is that both dragons were ridden by her relatives. Vhagar was ridden by her daughter and Daemon/Viserys's father, while Meleys was ridden by their mother before Rhaenys. Should have gone with Daemon's plan of 2 against 1.
Aegon 2 had little or no experience. In a 2 on 2 fight someone can take out sunfyre first. Then Maelys and Caraxes could take out vhagar. Defeating Vhagar would be difficult but a 2 on 1 advantage would have guaranteed the win.
They really should have stuck to the books. Aegon flew Sunfyre for his coronation and the entire city cheered because it was so beautiful. Instead of that we got that dumb scene.
He didn't usurp his nephew. The throne was there for the taking. If he didn't return to Westeros with Visenya, Aegon 1.5 and Rhaena would have been murdered by poor fellows in Crakehall and the Warriors Sons would have stormed Dragonstone and killed Jaehaerys, Alyssane and Viserys'.... Aegon 1.5 was an idiot, his uncle saved his life and his family's lifes work and the first thing he does is steal a dragon and oppose Maegor and villainize him to further divide the realm. Maegor was based and the Gods have him their favour, he won a trial of seven 🤷♂️
"He can't die, it would be the end of the series!" Bruh, does Chris hear himself? There's a royal line of lineage. Aegon has two brothers. Nothing would be over if he were to die. Not even close!
Can't fly, can't walk, heavily burnt, clawed torso, fell from the sky, stuck in the forest far from home..... it'll take a miracle for sunfyre to still be alive after this episode
Criston is one of the few knights of his generation with actual battle experience, mostly because he's Dornish. That's why he's an effective battlefield commander. But he's an awful choice as Hand.
Criston calling her a w*ore for the 150th time was like.. dude. Have you tried saying that to a mirror? Not very boss still being bitter about the teen that dissed you.
I can't digest it, they keep showing Vhagar so stealthy. At Stormend the stealth attack is justifiable, but here? Iirc, this encounter was different in the book.
@@lewis0705 oh jeez I'm a total idiot. How could I have overlooked her mom, ya know the one we're all talking about in this episode. Yes, you're right and I need a nap or a cognitive test.
Aegon is seeming like a less insane version of homelander. His childhood exactly mirrors Homelander and how he craves love, by design. Alicent really made him King with no concern for him at all, and always wanted to rule through him, instead of actually helping
@@JimmySteller I have a theory that Otto craves power so much that he poisoned Jahearys children and even Viserys. Making it look like natural causes. He carefully planted Alicent having already figured out Viserys's interests and weaknesses. As you said he also ruined Alicent's life by twisting her mental state to evil levels.
Now Daemon’s plan of tag teaming with Rhaenys against Aemond doesn’t sound so bad. I know Rhaenyra wanted to avoid war, but Daemon was right about how to deal with the greens, hesitation is going to cost her more in the end.
Still think Aegon is more in the right than he knows. Daemon has Harrenhal, sure, but he doesn't have any real support yet. One dragon could probably take him out before he could reach Caraxes, if they were quick enough.
Targaryen don't burn is a myth. They do burn, all of them. Daenerys had the spell of that witch guarding her. And Aegon & Sunfyre both are still very much alive. They have shit to fuck 😂😂😂

Before this in the books, the only time Sunfire is brought up with Aegon is when he rides him/her around the city after being crowned.. I think is kinda hard since the book came out years ago most people assume many people know what happened since is like history and also Joffrey in GOT also Spoiled it in some way. But I understand your frustration, as a book reader I always try to avoid that and only explain things within the current episode.
Losing Rhaenys is devastating both in the story and the show as a whole. Eve Best was one of the greatest parts of this show and I'm truly gonna miss her.
Aemond's plan was just to ambush whoever came in from Rhaenyra's side to help Rook's Rest. He didn't plan on Aegon showing up with Sunfyre, but when he saw them clashing he took the opportunity to take them both out. Also Aemond was sheathing his sword because he saw the dagger on the ground. If Cole wasn't there, Aemond would've ended Aegon's life right then.
Aemond is a bitch picking cheap fights since the start first the eye then the brothel scene........he is salty at everyone and straight-up cruel. His dragon that he stole killed 3 dragons maybe that's why no dragon bonded with him in the first place they knew he was a problem.
The reason Rhaenys didn’t leave is cuz she also kinda want to prove herself, in the book it said there is a fair chance Rhaenys can beat Vaghar. And for the TV canon I think Rhaenys also feel a bit bad that she didn’t end the war back then where she had the chance to burn them all.

They fought above „Godseye“ a little island in a big lake near Harrenhal. Well… Maegor won on Balerions back against the much quicker dragon. But after these yeah. This battle in this episode was the first real fight of dragons against each other since than and old Valyria.
If there was another Aegon already why do they keep calling this Aegon the second ? Wouldn’t this (alicent’s son) Aegon be the third if Maegor the cruel killed Aegon the second?

For all Aegon's faults, he may have been drunk on wine and desperation to prove himself, but unlike Aemond, who wields the biggest Dragon in the world yet prefers hit-and-run tactics (like some Sharks that do it to Seals to avoid injury), Aegon fearlessly attacked a Dragon twice Sunfyre's size. Only wish to keep to the books where the Greens' Dragon ambush IS Aegon's idea.
I swear half of you either have read a different version of Fire & Blood or just confidently spouting off whatever comes to mind. The dragon trap was Cole's idea in both mediums. Aegon is pretty useless as a strategist at this point of the war.
The Andals brought the religion of the faith of the seven to westeros. The first men were there first and they believed in the old gods. They fought for thousands of years before the Andals took over most of the seven kingdoms except the north. Thats why the olds gods and most of the weirwood trees are still prominent in the north. The Targaryens dont really believe in the faith or the old gods either. They only act like they believe in the faith of the seven because when the Aegon the conquerer took over, the Andals were in power in most of the seven kingdoms and mostly everyone now believes in the faith except the north. Edit: Yes the Andals came from Essos. They were chased out by Old Valyria.

I feel the exact same way. She was my favorite character so much so that I’m ALMOST not interested in the rest of this story. She was such a fucking badass in every scene. Meleys was also my favorite dragon.
Suraj, All animals fight. Dragons would be no different. In conditions where Tagaryens or Valerians aren't controlling them, I imagine, they battle for territory, mates, etc.
Rana:(seeing Vhagar)"NONONONONO!" Me:(Green fan)".....Yes!" "If he's a true Targaryen, he'll walk it off!" I'm sick of that myth. Targaryen's aren't immune to fire. Book Dany only survived the one time thanks to the mystical causes that allowed her dragons to hatch. Later in book 5, she gets torched by Drogon and her clothes catch fire and her hair burns away, though she luckily survives, at least. Oh, don't worry. The best claimant, Aegon, still lives.
To be honest I don't really wanna hate him (yet), he's like a more sympathetic homelander with his fucked up childhood. If he wasn't a rapist I'd probably like him.
Daemon had the correct strategy from the beginning. He had ordered Rhaenys to ride with him so both could attack Vhagar simultaneously because she was so big & killing Aemon at the same time. Rhaenys answer was no, he couldn't order her because he wasn't king. Big mistake.
Exactly, first she missed the opportunity to end it all by frying the damn bunch of them Hightowers and their allies at the dragon pit; and then she just let her grudges towards Daemon cloud her judgement _she even successfully drove a wedge between him and Rhaenyra!!! Her death is heroic but she made really dumb decisions..
Did anyone not notice that amazing shot when Sunfyre was laying injured and SUN rays were coming through and there was FIRE all around. I think that was a superb shot.
RIP Rhaenys....Daemon kept accusing her of not "finishing the job" when she had the chance last season. Now, she decided to stay and fight till the end. Respect Queen ❤
According to the family tree I found online, Maelys (Rhaenys’ dragon) is Vhagar’s granddaughter (we will not be calling it grand-dragon google if you don’t know) so Maelys be fighting be grandma 😭😭😭
Rhaenys wanted to make sure she does everything she can this time, she was the first one to get blamed for not ending the greens when she had the chance. This was her second and a more "proper" chance, since it's already a war.
I kinda wish they stuck to the book on how this battle went. Meleys went out a true badass, taking on two on one and still whooping their asses instead of the one at a time that the show went with.
I think it would have been difficult to make that work visually. Sometimes what works in a book just doesn’t translate. This way we got Meleys taking on 2 dragons and making her mark on this war.

Jaehaerys and Jaehaera had little Shrykos and Morghul
You forgot Daeron the Daring
I mean it would've been 2 against 2. Aegon II wouldn't seat that out
Aegon 2 had little or no experience. In a 2 on 2 fight someone can take out sunfyre first. Then Maelys and Caraxes could take out vhagar. Defeating Vhagar would be difficult but a 2 on 1 advantage would have guaranteed the win.

Very true, this one is only on a larger scale and will have long lasting consequences for the dragons as a species.
And importantly, Vhagar actually participated in that war so she knows what she's doing.
Aegon is seeming like a less insane version of homelander. His childhood exactly mirrors Homelander and how he craves love, by design. Alicent really made him King with no concern for him at all, and always wanted to rule through him, instead of actually helping
