That's a great video. I like that you're considerate and think about the neighbours when blowing. My old dad has an early 70s suffolk punch which hasn't been run for around 20 years - every now and again I look for a 2nd hand scarifier cassette.
Prestige Lawn Care thanks Marc, all well cheers, they always look ruff after but 3 or 4 weeks 100×better. Hope your busy, but don't work to hard mate 👍👍
Another great job and I love your style of video as well as seeing the standard of work. I’d really like to see some tool reviews by you and also maybe some follow-up videos to show the later effect of the pruning, scarifying and renovating jobs you do. Cheers for all the effort on the videos and if you keep making I’ll keep watching so it’s a win-win. Cheers
Hi, great video, i have scarified a few lawns, i haven't used any moss killing chemicals, what do i do straight after, add grass seed or fertiliser? There's patches where lots of moss has come out. Ive seen various videos, some saying to grass seed others saying fertiliser and some just scarifying and not putting anything down?? Please can you advise the simplest best way in order to get a nice lawn in a couple of weeks. Thank you.
Great bit of work ( video + lawn ) doing some research for work on my own bit mossy lawn, would you recommend the best time of year to do this type of work?
Allen mccarthy thanks mate. I prefer to do it in spring or mid autumn, as there is good chance of rain and time for the grass to recover before the hot summer or cold winter 👍👍👍
Congratulations on 1000 subs! I've never used one of these so good to see. I still haven't got myself a blower! My Mrs has banned me buying anymore tools until September! Keep making the videos!!!
Joseph McCole thanks Joseph, 1k is because of people such as your self and it's very much appreciated😊. Haha I have a wife like that, but if a tool makes money, it's money well spent. Take care mate 👍👍👍
I would think a sandy lawn will have a more drought tolerant grass on it,those types of grasses do tend to be prone to thatch build up. On a lawn like that i would suggest hollow tinning and adding bulky material in autumn. Nice job.
Just subbed :-) can I ask a quick question? In your professional opinion what's the best fertiliser to put on the grass after getting all the moss and dead thatch out, my soul is very free draining so moss isn't really an issue, but i do confess to having OCD about my green lines ;-) am currently using proctors spring and summer lawn feed which does green the grass up a lot but just wondering if you know of anything better? Kind regards
Check the strength of your grass and roots. Using the blade if the thatch build up is really bad . Otherwise use the spring tines. The blades can be very aggressive, and could do more damage .
thegeordiefellwalker thanks Geordie mate👍. It's a good little machine for smallish lawn, and light so easy to put in and out the van. Take it easy mate 👍👍👍👍
Neusa C thanks neusa, just feed mate, there was no money in their budget for seeding and top dressing, but to be honest the grass was pretty good and no bare patches, but a top dressing would of been nice just to help get some body to the soil. Take care neusa 👍👍
As always mate a great video I got myself a small little hand held ever green hand spreader it's a great little yoke I'd highly recommend u pick 1 up I'd say they be 10 or 15 pounds with yer self's
Chris Blurton thanks Chris😊. Yes it's the toolstation one mate, I like it and so far so good, easy to us and light as well. Not a big machine, but ideal if you only do a few lawns like me. Take care mate 👍👍
jason Gardener yeah that’s what I was thinking, I’ve got a few clients who are asking to have there lawns scarified so I’m sure it would pay for itself quickly and looks like it does a pretty good job, keep up the good work mate 👍🏻 long may this sun last 🤞🏼🌞
I thought the best way to scarify a lawn is to cut it close first then airrate then cut again... And then over seed... But would you use top soil aswel???
Isabella & Jaidyns Garden Adventures hi, I only use a very general feed but as so Sandy the feed will wash through the soil quickly, so as I cut the lawn fortnightly, I spray a seaweed feed on through the season. 😊👍👍👍👍👍
Gary Chapman UK Gardening thanks Gary mate. It's a satisfying job to do, but the waste can be overwhelming lol. 1k subscribers cheers mate. Take care mate 👍👍👍👍👍👍
AdiPlaya thanks mate. The forecast was rain that night and it did, but if not, I always ask the customer to sprinkle the hoes pipe over in a day or so if stays dry. 😊👍👍
Well the lawn seems scarified during summer so in an abslolutly dry condition?? Not the best season to do this. Same problem with seeding, on a completly dry soil, very minimal work
RJC-Services thanks mate, I know, dislikes are frustrating, as send 4 to 8 hours editing and someone just press a button, but that's up to them. Just try to get edges best you can or at worst hand rake a little bit. Take care mate 👍👍
I think people are just confused at the difference, I literally had to look this up 5+ times to remember the difference lol. If I understand everything correctly, scarifying involves thatch on the surface and below soil, where as dethatching is only thatch on the surface. But basically scarifying is more invasive for the lawn since it's going under the soil.. however it allows the roots to soak up much more nutrients/water since thatch will no longer be in the way. I'm planning to scarify for the first time this week, wish me luck! :) The lawn is 9 years old and I know by the looks of it that the previous owner never took care of the lawn.. so there will be a lot of thatch to remove!
Great vid. I'm old fashioned too. 👍🤣

Saxilby Joe thanks mate 👍.
If you can find a scarifiering attachment would be cool and save a few £ too.
Thanks mate and take it easy 👍👍
Excellent job mate 🤜🏾🤛🏾💯💯✨✨✨✨🦿🍺🍺🍻🍻
Great video work, lots of good angles, good commentary, well done thank you. Good tip with the blower too.
Never stops amazing me how much comes out, I always love how in a few weeks the lawn picks up. Good job mate hope your keeping well.
Prestige Lawn Care thanks Marc, all well cheers, they always look ruff after but 3 or 4 weeks 100×better.

Jason I love your videos !,
Thanks for taking the time to do this video. Appreciate your advice. 👍

Take a look at the Earthway over shoulder spreader. I bought one for seeding and feeding small lawns. I used do it by hand, never again.
Mowtown NI cheers mate will do 👍👍
OMG so satisfying to watch. The lawn can 'breathe' again!
Glad I am not in the next door neighbours garden when that blowing is going on 🤣🤣🤣
Great job Jason. The waste is the worst part about that job and hills lol.
Green Barrow Garden Services thanks Matt, the waste is amazing and dust on this one, but satisfying one though.
Take care mate 👍👍👍

Nice work chap great wee vid
This is the model I have been looking for, can you please reply with the model? as some of my jobs require tines, blades or both! Much appreciated.
How do you "deal with" ant hills as you mention around the 2:30 mark?
Great bit of work ( video + lawn ) doing some research for work on my own bit mossy lawn, would you recommend the best time of year to do this type of work?

Great video I have recently done a lawn full off moss . What machine did you use . Regards David
Your client is fortunate that your local knowledge about soil conditions made for a better job.
Don't rub your eye's after spreading that feed!
Wayne Essar thanks Wayne 👍.
Your right, think it's one of them natural reactions, but shouldn't do it👍.
Cheers mate 👍👍👍👍
How do you rate Einhell as a brand/ tool quality?
OK ish, good for a couple of years at best, does a good job though 👍
Congratulations on 1000 subs! I've never used one of these so good to see. I still haven't got myself a blower! My Mrs has banned me buying anymore tools until September! Keep making the videos!!!

jason Gardener thanks for posting. It's really helpful for new starter's like myself.
thanks for sharing your important job. Aren't you concerned about heavily spreading moss through the blowing process?
More likely to blow more moss away from lawn overall than raking and treating moss before scarification will help right?
hi great video what feed did you use and do you water straight away ? thanks
I would think a sandy lawn will have a more drought tolerant grass on it,those types of grasses do tend to be prone to thatch build up. On a lawn like that i would suggest hollow tinning and adding bulky material in autumn. Nice job.
Did you over seeded after ?

what brand was your scarifying machine, do you have a link Jason
Dont you have a collection box for your scarifier? Empty it alot but surely more efficent and cleaner than blowing it about everytime?
When would you use the blades verses the springs? My home is 35 years old and I don't think the lawn has ever been scarified.
Check the strength of your grass and roots. Using the blade if the thatch build up is really bad . Otherwise use the spring tines. The blades can be very aggressive, and could do more damage .
@@Liam-hw5us Thank you for that advice. It is now our Winter, so I will leave this until Spring and probable do a core aeration first.
that lawn will look a million dollars .the einhell looks a nice light compact machine.good stuff mate.
thegeordiefellwalker thanks Geordie mate👍.
It's a good little machine for smallish lawn, and light so easy to put in and out the van.
Take it easy mate 👍👍👍👍
DO YOU CHARGE BY THE hour or for the job ? i never know how long a job will take so i charge by the hour ( dont seem to make much !)
Nice job Jason. Do you add seeds, or just fertilizer after all that.
Neusa C thanks neusa, just feed mate, there was no money in their budget for seeding and top dressing, but to be honest the grass was pretty good and no bare patches, but a top dressing would of been nice just to help get some body to the soil.

Noel Cahill thanks mate 😊.
I'll have a look mate, probably time I move in to the 21st century lol.
take care mate 👍👍
jason Gardener haha I always used the bucket myself man not everything new is great haha but I have to say I find the little spreader a great job
Another top video Jason 👍🏻 is that the Einhell that you get from screwfix/tool station? If so how do you rate it ?
Cheers
Chris Blurton thanks Chris😊.
Yes it's the toolstation one mate, I like it and so far so good, easy to us and light as well. Not a big machine, but ideal if you only do a few lawns like me.

What scarifier you using?
Is that in Norfolk?
Do you recommend iron sulphate or detergent
I would like to see this in a few weeks time. 👍
billy d was hoping to get a picture a week or 2 later, but when I was meant to go, it was heavy rain, so didn't get a chance, but will try again.
👍👍
How would you price this to a customer?
Where can I buy one of those machine
I thought the best way to scarify a lawn is to cut it close first then airrate then cut again... And then over seed... But would you use top soil aswel???
do you always feed it with the same stuff or does it vary depending on the condition and type of grass?
Isabella & Jaidyns Garden Adventures hi, I only use a very general feed but as so Sandy the feed will wash through the soil quickly, so as I cut the lawn fortnightly, I spray a seaweed feed on through the season.
😊👍👍👍👍👍
I’ve an acre to do!
It hasn’t ever been done.
18 years it’s been down and for many years wasn’t cut.
It’s gonna be a long job.
another great video mate. been doing a bit of that last wk..mad how much comes out! well done on the 1000 subs also you deserve it.
Gary Chapman UK Gardening thanks Gary mate.
It's a satisfying job to do, but the waste can be overwhelming lol.
1k subscribers cheers mate.
Take care mate 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi, what brand of feed did you apply
after you spreed feed do you rinse water on grass? or just living like that? great video👍
AdiPlaya thanks mate.
The forecast was rain that night and it did, but if not, I always ask the customer to sprinkle the hoes pipe over in a day or so if stays dry.
😊👍👍
That's an interesting machine, we have a lot of moss in our garden, I might see can I hire one out for a day
about £50 for a day's use. Blades or wire tongs spin at high speed
I would highly recommend doing it
Listen go to your local Lidl or Aldi and go to the aisle of crap. They sell them there for around £50 rather than hiring one for a day.
Good job mate!
Is that your own scarifier? Or did you hire it? I’ve been thinking of getting one.
Mike’s Garden Services thanks Mike.
It's mine, only small but ideal for the odd lawn job, it's a einhell (toolstation) 53cc.
Take care mate 👍👍
What scarfier are you using .
Neil Spedding einhell 53cc, 👍
jason Gardener cheers. Would you recommend it.
Neil Spedding iv only used this machine 3 or 4 times and had no problems, it isn't the most powerful but great on smallish lawn
How much does it cost for scarifying ?
What model of scarifyier is that
hi from the US- Rochester NY
👍
Well the lawn seems scarified during summer so in an abslolutly dry condition?? Not the best season to do this. Same problem with seeding, on a completly dry soil, very minimal work
Did you price in to scarify so many times?
How much money did you charge.
Enjoyed the video, from a humble honest man, got the thumbs up from me 👍👍👏
Greenman groundcare thanks mate much appreciated 😊.
Glad you enjoyed.
Have a top week mate👍👍👍👍👍👍
How do you deal with ant hills Ian ??
mcaddockful just make a slit with a spade, straight down the centre of the ant hill, and ant powder down 👍
jason Gardener good tip. So spade in, open up the hill, ant powder in then close it back up?
mcaddockful that's it mate spot on, in dry weather 👍
Super stuff pal 👍
It would be good to finish the video with a return visit some weeks later to see the results.
Totally agree, but unfortunately time and work load, sadly didn't give me a chance 👍
Looks terrible after doesn't it. Just means you've done a good job. If you think on show us the lawn in a couple of months, I bet it will look great
Can this be done when the lawn is dry, we haven't had any rain for a while so the lawn is pretty dry.
love how there is always one who has to dislike. Oh well. nice job, quick question, how do you scarify the edges. I have a hand scarifyer
RJC-Services thanks mate, I know, dislikes are frustrating, as send 4 to 8 hours editing and someone just press a button, but that's up to them.
Just try to get edges best you can or at worst hand rake a little bit.

I like to work. I can look at it for hours 😏
We call this “dethatching” in America for some reason.
I think people are just confused at the difference, I literally had to look this up 5+ times to remember the difference lol.
